Chapter 57 - Chapter 057: Does Killing Need a Reason?

Hiss...

All around,

The sound of people sharply inhaling echoed.

They had already recognized that the unknown figure was none other than the tyrant of Pigeon Island

The captain of the Mad Shark Pirates

Mad Shark Squeak!

Bounty: 210 million Berries!

And rumor had it, he recently got in touch with Drought Jack from the Beasts Pirates.

But then, they looked at the one who injured him and couldn't believe their eyes.

A Marine—Just an ordinary-looking Marine, nothing special at all.

Kisame landed on the ground,

Without hesitation.

He raised Samehada!

"No!"

Squeak, his entire right arm a bloody mess, his expression changed drastically and he tried to evade.

But Kisame used to be a swordsman! A famous one at that!

Samehada was too fast!

There was simply no chance for Squeak to dodge.

Panicking, Squeak instinctively activated his barely-mastered Haki, covering half of his body in a layer of black armor.

But the black was... murky!!

It wasn't the gleaming, jet-black armor like Zephyr's!

"Hmm?"

Kisame paused in surprise. Didn't Zephyr say Haki was incredibly hard to awaken and control?

And now, barely out to sea, he'd already run into two Haki users?

Damn, this thick-browed, honest-looking old man, turned out to be a liar too!

Why are there liars everywhere!?

"Your Haki is way worse than that fraud Zephyr's!"

Kisame only had a basic understanding of Haki from Zephyr, But as a seasoned warrior, he could still tell the difference.

He ignored Squeak and added even more force to Samehada.

Squelch!

Another slash, vicious barbs tore off a large chunk of flesh from Squeak's waist.

You could practically see his kidney inside!

Damn — with that strike, Kisame almost went from swordmaster to kidney thief.

Grotesque, horrifying wounds spilled blood like a broken dam. It splattered on the ground, soaking into the soil.

The stench of blood mixed with the reek of rotting fish, slowly spreading through the air.

"Go to hell!"

Having his kidney slashed, Squeak's eyes turned bloodshot in an instant.

He sprang up and slammed down a massive fist with wild fury.

Boom!

Kisame didn't take the hit head-on. He retreated with Samehada, dodging effortlessly.

The ground erupted—dust flying, chunks of earth blasting apart.

To be fair, the guy did pack a punch.

He could probably demolish a house or two without breaking a sweat!

And Kisame also realized something, With just physical combat, it would be tough to finish this guy instantly

Squeak had some insane vitality.

"DIE!"

Squeak charged again.

But Kisame was ready. Calm hands. Confident heart.

A grin spread across his face, revealing those cold, sharp fangs.

"Big guy, you're way too slow."

As he spoke, his figure flickered, vanishing right in front of Squeak's eyes.

The pirate froze.

In that moment of hesitation, Kisame reappeared, Right at his flank again and at the same time, Samehada followed with a terrifying burst of speed.

Too fast.

So fast, Squeak's clumsy frame couldn't dodge at all.

He could only watch, wide-eyed, as that monstrous weapon sliced into his side once more.

Squelch!

A flash of dark energy burst across Squeak's midsection, tearing away a chunk of bloody flesh.

Splat!

BOOM!

No flashy explosion. No epic scream.

Just the chilling sight of Squeak dropping to his knees, clutching the intestines spilling from his abdomen.

Those giant shark-like eyes — now filled with pure terror.

And as he knelt, blood gushed out in waves.

The once-ferocious Squeak, now collapsed on the ground, desperately scrambling to shove his innards back in.

His breathing turned frantic. Blood foam bubbled from his trembling lips. His wide-open eyes were filled with fear and disbelief.

To the surrounding onlookers, The whole scene was terrifyingly silent.

The man who once ruled Pigeon Island…

The pirate with a 210 million Berry bounty, Mad Shark Squeak

Had just been gutted in public.

The chaos of the moment started to spiral.

Squeak's gruesome state even made the nearby children burst into tears.

Kisame's face remained expressionless as he stepped forward, lifting Samehada once more…

Squelch!

The massive shark head rolled to the ground,

Its wide eyes still frozen in the terror of death.

"T-The boss… is dead?"

"He's a monster!"

"Run! Get the hell out of here!"

The pirates who had been frozen in shock at the bar entrance finally snapped out of it after witnessing their captain's execution.

In an instant

Chaos erupted.

And it wasn't just the Mad Shark Pirates who were present — there were pirates from other crews here too.

The moment they saw Squeak, the Mad Shark captain, dead on the ground, they quietly slipped into the crowd, trying to disappear.

As for the Mad Shark crew themselves? Easy to spot.

Whoever was running the fastest — those were the ones!

At that moment, Kisame turned his head, Glancing at the scattering pirates. He paused briefly in thought, then a knowing, cryptic smile crept across his face.

Do you need a reason to kill?

Do you?

Or maybe… you don't?

Maybe…

Killing really doesn't need a reason at all.

Especially when it's a bunch of pirates.

No hesitation.

Kisame's figure vanished on the spot.

———

Five minutes later.

The tavern was still the same old tavern.

Except now it was a little more broken and right outside the front door, pirate corpses lay strewn in messy piles.

Blood trickled along the grooves in the earth, soaking into the soil.

The air was thick with the overwhelming stench of blood, so sharp that people nearby were gagging, covering their mouths.

Kisame glanced down at the bodies, Shook the leftover flesh and blood from Samehada, Then pulled out his den den mushi to call the port soldiers.

Samehada was a mess — totally unsuitable for wrapping up anything.

So he didn't bother.

He slung the sword over his shoulder,

Turned around, and stepped back through the gaping hole into the bar.

———

Inside the tavern,

The woman was still standing at the counter

But those long, beautiful legs were trembling uncontrollably, as if she could collapse at any moment.

She had witnessed everything.

And as Kisame reentered the room, That graceful, mature body began to tremble in fear. Even her enchanting, elegant face was now twisted with a terror that had taken root deep inside.

"The Mad Shark Pirates… are gone…"

With both the captain and vice-captain dead,

There wasn't much else to say about what happened to the rest.

Watching the entire Mad Shark Pirate Crew — over a hundred men, get wiped out in just a few short minutes, How could she not be terrified?

Outside the tavern,

Corpses were everywhere.

Especially those streaks of blood soaking into the earth,

They probably wouldn't wash away anytime soon.

Her bar had been smashed to pieces.

At this rate, she might be dealing with ghosts by nightfall.

The woman was furious — furious that her tavern was wrecked.

But when she looked at the one who caused it all, her anger was drowned by fear, Especially when her eyes landed on that spiked club of his…

That thing was lethal, no doubt about it.

THUMP!

A dull thud echoed through the air. Grace nearly collapsed, her heart pounding like a drum.

She looked up at the emotionless Marine standing in front of her.

Kisame stared down at the terrified woman:

"We had a deal. The head is yours, the intel is mine, You're not going to go back on your word, are you?"

He gave Samehada a couple of sharp flicks, cleaning it off — more or less.

But bits of torn flesh still clung to it, and thin trails of blood ran down through the grooves.

Like a wet umbrella being folded after the rain, Before long, a dark red puddle formed on the floor.

Grace's beautiful, frightened eyes locked on that puddle, her entire body trembling.

She'd seen her share of danger in the New World…

But this?

This kind of storm?

This was off the damn charts.

"O-Of course!" she nodded quickly.

Break a promise?

This man had just annihilated an entire pirate crew tied to the Beasts Pirates, and without blinking.

Would someone like him really care about a single, defenseless woman?

And she highly doubted he was the chivalrous type.

Right now, provoking Kisame was the same as asking for death. Unless she had a death wish!

"Talk," Kisame said coldly.

"Where is Doflamingo?"
