"No!"
Alex loudly responded back, still looking his friend in the eyes.
Thomas was a bit taken aback. Raising his left eyebrow Alex's blond haired friend asked back.
"No? What do you mean, no? You clearly attacked and killed it. What was in front of you was a mere 'What if'. You died after attacking the goblin, this should've been the natural outcome, but no you defied it. Do you understand?"
Alex bit on his lip not knowing what he should say.
"What? Don't you have anything to say, barbarian?"
After taking a deep breath, Alex continued to look at his friend. While he was looking at Thomas, he was thinking about his father.
He was thinking.
Getting impatient, Thomas began to talk again: "Come on Alex, why are you not talking? Why are you not defending yourself? Do you have nothing to say after shouting 'No'? Are you accepting the fact that you did a grave mistake, or more accurately that you are that grave mistake."
Not minding Thomas' comment that he was a mistake, Alex was thinking about what his father said; The System told him to kill and so he did, there should be a reason why he got that mission. Not only that there was a reason why he got the mission to kill, there should also be a logical explanation to why he got the system.
Alex suddenly began to talk: "Like I said, No. I was ordered to kill or else I would have died, the system wanted me to do ..."
Thomas laughed loudly interrupting Alex.
"So what! you killed somebody, because you were ordered to. What happens if you are ordered to kill a real person? Hmm, are you justifying murder because you were ordered to. If this is your justification you are no better than a soldier who kills innocent civilians, because he was ordered to. You are nothing more than scum."
Not laughing anymore, Thomas had a stern expression. He walked closer to Alex, looking him in the eyes. In the cave was no except of the water droplets dropping down, in an irregular manner.
Alex looked down on the ground, he knew that he did nothing wrong, he knew that it was necessary, but why did he feel sad or even guilty. He was just trying to survive, to live.
'Dammit, why can't I think of anything, I just wanted to live.'
Alex was silent with an unsure expression all over his face, his body was shaking but then he regained his composure.
"Like I said, the system told me to do it. Why don't you ask the system why I was ordered to kill the goblin."
"The system? Which system, I don't know what you are talking about. I just see you and me and the goblin in this space. No physical entity called the system." Thomas argued.
Alex now looked at Thomas again, he also had a serious look on his eyes.
"Then explain to me why I was sent to this place and was ordered to kill, while my target had a weapon and I didn't. Maybe the goblin was just waiting for me to come and kill me, but we may never know. If it is true that the goblin is innocent, then you could say that we both were victims."
"Nonsense! You were the o…"
Before Thomas could reply Alex interrupted him.
"Blah, blah, blah. Yeah, I am the mistake. Things should've turned out differently. How often are you going to repeat yourself. I landed in a space of which I don't know the location of and with no way of knowing if I can escape."
After finishing his sentence, Alex feels his confidence rising. He felt more sure that he did nothing wrong. Looking at Thomas who was now smiling, Alex was confused but he didn't show it
"Excellent, my friend." Thomas said while clapping.
Alex continued to stare at his Friend. After several seconds, Thomas began to shine bright. Before Alex could react the light , he was already engulfed by it."
'So warm...'
Opening his eyes again, Alex lied in his bed again. Raising his head, he watched right and left seeing that he was in his room. As soon has he noticed that he was home, he dropped his head down on his soft, but really wet, pillow.
Out of Alex's mouth escaped a long, deep sigh of relief.
'I am safe... really safe.'
He pulled his blanket closer and closed his eyes. He didn't sleep he was just resting his body and mind. After some time resting he heard his door open, opening his eyes he saw his Dad.
"Good Morning." Alex said closing his eyes.
"... Morning? Alex, it's almost midnight. You've slept like a rock, I was worried that you would't wake up."
"What do you mean? How long has it been since you gave me the soup?" Speaking Alex noticed that his mouth was really dry.
"A day has almost passed since I last woke you up." His father replied.
"WHAT! So you're telling me that it's Tuesday Night?"
Alex looked at his father with an open mouth. He was flabbergasted, how could a person sleep for such a long time.
"I made some spaghetti for you, so go eat, take a shower, while I change your bed sheets. And close that mouth."
"Okay, Thank you." Alex said, walking to his father to hug him.
Going to the kitchen, Alex saw a pot on the stove. Looking inside pot he saw the spaghetti. Behind it he saw another smaller pot with plain tomato sauce in it.
Taking a plate, he filled it with the spaghetti with a generous amount of sauce and a big glass of water.
'Delicious!'
Not knowing if the dish was really delicious or if he was just that hungry, Alex devoured every last bit that was on his plate. Finishing his food he went to the bathroom and began to shower. He took a long warm shower, he enjoyed the warm embrace of safeness.
Going to his room, the thirteen year old boy, dropped down on his bed again. Even if he has slept for a day, he was already tired. How he was tired? Even he didn't know, but he knew that it was going to be a calm night.
