Chapter 16 - Can You Play Dirty?

Gael opened his eyes the moment he felt someone trying to take Kai from him.

When he saw that it was Andrea, he loosened his grip on the child, allowing her to take the child into her arms.

Kai, who woke up the moment his mother took him, suddenly began to cry.

"I think he is hungry. I will leave so that you can breastfeed him." Gael said, already getting up from the couch.

"There is no need. I have already messaged Aunty Hannah to bring his bottle." Andrea said, and right on cue, there was a knock on the door.

Andrea immediately rushed to answer the door with a smile, thinking it was Hannah, but when she opened the door, she saw Raya.

Although Andrea had never interacted with Raya, she still knew who she was because of the information Gael gave her on the Ashford family.

Raya was the daughter of the former president of the country, and two years ago, when a video of her in bed with Lucas went viral, both families decided to manage the situation by saying the two were already engaged, and the following week they had gotten married.

Her gaze fell on the bottle in Raya's hand. "Did Hannah send you?" she asked.

Raya nodded and gave the bottle to Andrea saying, "Your son is beautiful."

Andrea chuckled and replied, "Thank you, but he is even better when he is not crying so loudly."

Raya smiled and was about to hold the baby's hand when she saw a shirtless Gael going to the bathroom.

"I have to feed this little tyrant, but I will love it if we could talk some other time."

"I would love that too." Raya replied, forcing a smile on her face before Andrea closed the door.

After checking the temperature of the milk, Andrea places it on Kai's mouth and sighs in relief when he stopped crying.

"I can't believe you didn't even cry throughout the night. You must really like your uncle, right?" She said softly while watching her baby feed on the bottle.

She looked at the bathroom door to ensure it was really closed and whispered, "How will you like sleeping with him tonight as well?"

Andrea felt like she saw her baby's eyes light up when she asked him. A soft chuckle left her lips as she said, "You are so cute."

After bathing, Gael came out of the bathroom with only a towel tied around his waist.

He gently closed the bathroom door and watched as Andrea stood by the window, singing a lullaby to her son.

The sight reminded him of his mother. She used to sing to him every night before bed. Back then, he believed she loved him. But if she truly did, then why had she taken her own life?

"You have a beautiful voice."

Andrea turned to look at him, and seeing him in only his towel made her immediately turn back.

"Huh...you can go ahead and get dressed. I promise, I'm not looking." Andrea said, focusing her eyes outside.

Indeed, she stayed like that until she heard Gael's voice.

"You can turn around now."

Andrea turned around and asked, "Can I ask you a question?"

Gael rolled up his sleeves as he replied, "Go ahead."

"Why does your grandfather want me to take a position that used to belong to Diana? Does he want her to be the one to get rid of me?"

Gael raised an eyebrow in surprise. "You're smart. That's unexpected."

Andrea frowned. "What's that supposed to mean?"

"No offense, but all the girls my brother has ever introduced to me were… not very bright. I knew you were different, but I didn't expect you to be this sharp."

Andrea scoffed and said sarcastically. "Wow. Thanks for the compliment."

"You're welcome," Gael replied despite hearing her sarcastic tone.

"Gael!"

Gael chuckled but quickly cleared his throat when he realized his mistake. "You're right. Grandpa plans to use Diana to get rid of you."

"So my thoughts were right. The only reason he had accepted me in front of everyone was because of Kai. Was he scared that I might take Kai and run away?"

"Yes and no. Zarion High was built by my grandmother, and after she died, my mother became the director, and after her suicide, Diana became the new director of the school, and for ten years, she has not only been managing the school but has also been able to bring many influential people to her side by promising their children a bright future."

"So it is a school for the rich?"

"Indeed it is, but to give the less privileged a chance, the school gives scholarships to five lucky students who are less privileged."

"How generous." Andrea remark with a sneer.

"Despite your opinion, Zarion High has produced students who not only got the highest score in the university exams but also who have become prosecutors, judges, business moguls, and even the current president and his wife were once students of Zarion High. The school is not to be looked down on, and right now it is your ticket to rise to power."

"Grandfather has opened the door for you to take the school and, despite his intentions, show him that you cannot be easily taken down."

"But what about Kai? Who will take care of him?"

"I have already hired a caretaker for him, and she will not only take care of him but also protect him. She is good with martial arts and taking care of children. I got her from a trustworthy agency."

"Hold on, did you say martial art?"

"Yes, but she will have to pass your interview before I give it the green light."

Andrea nodded; her chest became heavy at the new responsibility that is currently waiting for her.

"Diana will retaliate because there is no way she will easily let go of a position she has held for ten years." She said, thinking of the battle that is ahead of her.

"Can you play dirty?" Gael suddenly asked.

"What do you mean?"

"A word of advice: if you wish to gain full control of that school, then you have to play dirty. Getting all those parents who are already used to Diana to suddenly like you is going to be tough, but if you are able to cross that bridge, then I can teach you how to use them to achieve whatever you want."

Andrea felt goosebumps after hearing Gael talk. It felt as if he was an expert at using people, and a crazy thought entered her mind: what if he was currently using her?
