The Dragonroot came free at last, heavy in his hands, its twisting body alive with a faint golden glow. Qi surged into his palms the instant he touched it, almost burning, but he tightened his grip.
"Got you," he whispered breathlessly, stuffing the root carefully into his satchel before tying it shut.
Only then did he chance a glance up. Goyeon was still dancing around the beast, nimble and tireless, but Wooyun knew he couldn't keep dragging things out. So he got up and yelled at his little companion, "Go for the kill!"
At those words, Goyeon struck the beast with a hit so deadly that Wooyun could feel its pain even from where he was standing. The beast keeled over, its large body falling to the ground with a loud thud. Then, the most unexpected thing happened. Its body started to disintegrate right before his eyes.
Wooyun glanced between the fallen beast and Goyeon, his eyes blinking and wide. "Uh…did that really just happen?"
