Chapter 480 - Vacation 3

The private jet touched down smoothly on the short runway, the wheels barely making a sound before the aircraft slowed to a gentle roll. Outside the window, the color of the lagoon was impossible to miss—layers of turquoise and deep blue blending together beneath the afternoon sun.

Lin Yi straightened slightly in his seat as the cabin door opened.

Warm air rushed in, carrying the scent of salt, flowers, and something faintly sweet. At the base of the stairs, the welcome awaited them.

Resort representatives stood in a graceful semicircle, dressed in refined island attire—linen, soft earth tones, subtle floral patterns. Each held fresh leis woven with care, their colors vivid against the afternoon light. At the center stood a woman with a calm smile and composed posture, her presence both professional and ceremonial.

As Lin Yi and Elizabeth stepped down together, the group spoke in unison, their voices gentle and welcoming.

"Ia ora na."

Elizabeth paused for half a beat, then smiled. Lin Yi inclined his head slightly, respectful. They have practiced for this. Together, they replied, carefully but sincerely,

"Māuruuru."

A flicker of pleasant surprise crossed the representatives' faces, followed by deeper smiles.

The leis were placed over their shoulders, cool petals brushing against skin. Immediately after, chilled towels were offered—lightly scented, refreshing—and crystal glasses filled with fresh juice, pale gold and condensation-beaded, were set gently into their hands.

There was no queue to join. This was the full VIP treatment.

Formalities were handled discreetly to the side, shielded from the main terminal. Passports vanished and returned swiftly. Luggage was already en route. Everything moved with quiet precision, as though the island had rehearsed their arrival.

Within minutes, they were guided through a private exit.

The lagoon revealed itself the moment the private speedboat pulled away from Motu Mute.

Its engine ran low and smooth, slicing through water so clear it looked unreal, as though the hull were gliding across glass rather than sea. The color shifted with every meter—pale turquoise near the shallows, deepening into rich sapphire where coral shelves dropped away. Sunlight scattered across the surface in fractured reflections, dancing against the polished teak deck beneath Lin Yi and Elizabeth's feet.

Warm air swept past them, carrying the scent of salt and tropical blossoms. Beneath the surface, coral gardens drifted by in slow motion, schools of fish flashing silver and gold as they vanished into the blue.

Elizabeth leaned toward the edge of the boat, curiosity pulling her forward. She lowered one hand slowly until her fingers brushed the surface.

The water was warm.

It slipped between her fingers like silk, leaving a faint trail of ripples behind it.

She turned back toward Lin Yi, eyes bright.

"Try it," she said. "It's incredible."

Lin watched her for a moment before following suit. He rested one hand over the side, letting his fingers skim the water. The lagoon parted easily around his touch.

For a second, he simply took it in.

Then he flicked his wrist.

A small arc of water lifted and landed squarely against Elizabeth's arm.

She gasped, then laughed, instinctively splashing back. Water droplets caught the light as they flew between them, brief flashes of silver against the blue.

"Hey," she protested, though her smile betrayed her.

Lin raised his hands in mock surrender, still amused. "You started it."

She reached out again, this time sending a careful splash in his direction. He leaned aside just enough to avoid most of it, though a few drops still caught his sleeve.

The boat continued forward, unbothered by their laughter, carving a quiet path toward the resort.

Ahead, Mount Otemanu rose sharply from the heart of Bora Bora, its jagged peaks covered in greenery. It dominated the skyline, a silent witness to the island's history.

As the boat drew closer, wooden walkways came into view, stretching elegantly across the water. Overwater villas stood on stilts above the lagoon, refined and understated, designed to blend into the landscape rather than overpower it.

Elizabeth stood near the rail, fingers resting lightly against the wood, eyes fixed on the horizon.

"This doesn't look real," she said quietly.

Lin Yi smiled beside her. "It truly is beautiful."

The speedboat slowed as it approached a private dock reserved exclusively for the resort's highest-tier guests. The engine cut smoothly, and resort representatives were already waiting.

They stood in a neat line, dressed in elegant island whites and soft earth tones. As Lin Yi and Elizabeth stepped onto the dock, fresh flower leis were placed around their necks, cool and fragrant. One of the attendants stepped forward, smiling warmly.

"Ia ora na, Monsieur Lin Yi. Ia ora na, Madame Elizabeth. Welcome home," they said in unison. Welcome.

Elizabeth responded first. "Māuruuru."

Lin Yi echoed her a heartbeat later. "Māuruuru."

The leader of the resort entourage introduced herself as Moana. She then ushered them inside.

From the dock, the resort unfolded naturally. Pathways of polished wood led across the water, guiding them toward their villa. The lagoon beneath their feet was impossibly clear, sunlight reaching all the way to the sand below.

They were heading to the Four Seasons Resort Bora Bora, one of the most exclusive and storied properties in French Polynesia. Built on a private motu directly facing Mount Otemanu, the resort had redefined island luxury when it opened—pairing architectural restraint with absolute privacy.

Designed to coexist with nature, the Four Seasons quickly became a benchmark for ultra-luxury travel, hosting royalty, heads of state, global icons, and private individuals who valued discretion as much as indulgence.

Its most prestigious villas—royal and presidential estates—were positioned for complete seclusion, offering direct lagoon access, private infinity pools, and unobstructed views of the island's iconic peak.

Their villa stood at the end of a quiet stretch of walkway.

As the doors opened, the space revealed itself slowly—high wooden ceilings, cool stone floors, and glass walls that vanished at the touch of a button. The interior flowed seamlessly into the outdoors, where an infinity pool mirrored the lagoon beyond it. Below the deck, fish drifted lazily through the water, visible without effort.

Moana gave a quiet introduction—how the terrace opened, how the ladder led directly into the water, how dinner could be arranged at any time, though neither Lin Yi nor Elizabeth was listening closely. Their attention had already been claimed by the view.

The bedroom faced the lagoon directly, the bed positioned so the first thing one would see upon waking was water and sky. Every detail spoke of intention.

When Moana finally withdrew, the villa fell quiet.

Their luggage had already been unpacked.

Clothes were laid out by category. Shoes aligned perfectly. Jewelry was placed on velvet-lined trays. Even their preferred fragrances had been misted into the air.

A chilled bottle rested in an ice bucket, condensation forming along the glass. Fresh fruit, perfectly cut, waited on the table. The staff gave a brief,

Silence returned.

They stepped onto the deck together.

The lagoon stretched out endlessly, shallow blues near the villa deepening into darker tones farther out. Somewhere in the distance, a boat passed slowly, leaving barely a ripple behind. Lin Yi sat back on one of the loungers, exhaling, the weight of travel finally gone.

Later, dressed in their swim wears slipped into the water directly from the deck.

The lagoon was warm, calm, and welcoming. Floating side by side, they let the world slow down completely.

As the sun dipped lower, they showered and changed into light clothing.

Moana soon returned.

"With your permission," she said, "we have prepared the sunset meal."

She led them to a different area of the villa with a deck. Low cushions had been arranged beside a small fire bowl. A sommelier poured a chilled bottle of Dom Pérignon—rarer, older champagne while a tray of delicate amuse-bouches appeared: caviar, sea urchin mousse, paper-thin wagyu slices.

A soft conch shell sounded once, then twice, carried by the breeze.

The sun slipped behind the horizon.

...

The evening air had cooled slightly, carrying the faint saltiness of the lagoon and the soft, rhythmic pulse of waves against the villa's stilts. Lanterns flickered along the deck, casting a warm glow over the private dining pavilion. Every detail had been curated for Lin Yi and Elizabeth—linen tablecloths, polished silverware, and crystal glasses that caught the last light of sunset.

The chef appeared from the shadows of the villa's kitchen with a food trolley, immaculate in his white jacket. A subtle bow, a polite nod, and he began.

"Welcome, Madame Elizabeth, Monsieur Lin Yi," he said, his French accent soft and deliberate. "My name is Mana, Tahitian for strength. Tonight, we embark on Le Voyage du Lagon, a French–Polynesian grand tasting experience, inspired by the sea and the island."

He gestured elegantly to the first amuse-bouche.

"Ahi Tuna Tartare, Vanilla & Lime Zest. Hand-cut, local tuna with Tahitian vanilla oil, finger lime pearls that burst like tiny stars in your mouth. And here," he lifted a small brioche, warm and golden from the trolley, "Brioche Gougère with Smoked Coconut Butter. A delicate balance of air and smoke, to awaken your palate."

Elizabeth sampled the tartare first, eyes lighting up at the delicate interplay of flavors. Lin Yi nodded appreciatively. They allowed themselves a brief pause, sipping Champagne and letting the flavors linger before moving on.

Chef Mana returned to the table, presenting the first course with a flourish. "Line-caught mahi-mahi," he explained, "cured gently in coconut milk with Meyer lemon and sea salt, finished with cucumber ribbons and micro basil. A refined homage to the Polynesian classic."

Elizabeth closed her eyes, savoring the cool, subtle tang of citrus against the sweetness of the coconut milk. They lingered over the course, allowing the flavors and ambiance to settle before the next indulgence.

.

Foie Gras Mi-Cuit, Pineapple & Rum Compote

"Lightly torched foie gras, paired with vanilla-rum caramelized pineapple, served on toasted pain de campagne," Chef Mana explained, leaning in slightly. "The sweetness of the fruit tempers the richness of the foie gras."

They paused after each bite, the warm breeze carrying faint Polynesian music from the shore. Elizabeth found herself stealing glances at Lin Y, while the chef discreetly refreshed their Champagne between courses.

.

Blue Lobster à la Vanille

The lobster tail arrived, vibrant against the elegant plate. "Butter-poached lobster, Tahitian vanilla beurre blanc, coral lentils, baby fennel. The beurre blanc is delicate, yet carries the essence of the island," Chef Mana said, eyes gleaming with pride.

Elizabeth's gasp at the vibrant colors was mirrored by Lin Yi's appreciative nod. They took their time, savoring each bite, letting the experience breathe before moving on to the next.

"Delicious," Lin said, wiping his lips with his napkin. "You have excellent cooking skills."

.

Fourth Course

Wagyu Beef Tenderloin, Hibiscus Jus

Chef Mana explained carefully, "A5 Wagyu, slow-roasted taro purée, grilled asparagus, finished with hibiscus-red wine reduction. Earth and fire—strength and softness on the tongue."

They let the richness linger, sipping Champagne between bites, speaking softly only to share impressions.

.

Intermezzo – Fraîcheur

Green Mango & Lime Sorbet

"Mint-infused, with a whisper of sea salt. " Chef Mana said. They paused longer here, enjoying the sorbet as a refreshing palate cleanser and the calm glow of the lanterns reflecting on the lagoon.

.

Dessert – Le Rêve Tropical

Tahitian Vanilla Mille-Feuille, Passionfruit Coulis & Gold Leaf

"And lastly for dessert, Mignardises of coconut macarons, dark chocolate truffles infused with rum agricole, and candied papaya."

Chef Mana watched silently, then quietly stepped back as Elizabeth and Lin Yi savored the final, decadent moments of their evening.

As the last golden flakes of the mille-feuille disappeared and the mignardises vanished one by one, Lin Yi set down his glass and turned toward Chef Manu.

"Chef Mana," he said, his tone warm and sincere, "this meal… it was extraordinary. Thank you for every detail, every flavor."

Elizabeth nodded, her eyes sparkling in the soft lantern light. "Absolutely. Every course was perfection. Thank you for such an unforgettable experience."

Chef Manu's expression softened into a proud, modest smile. "Merci beaucoup, Madame Elizabeth, Monsieur Lin Yi. I am honored that you enjoyed the meal. Preparing it for you both has been a pleasure. Truly." He gave a small bow and then stepped back, allowing the couple their private space once more.

Lin Yi and Elizabeth lingered at the edge of the pavilion, gazing out over the calm lagoon. The water reflected the last traces of twilight, soft ripples catching the villa's lanterns like liquid gold. The gentle sound of waves lapping against the stilts, the faint fragrance of tropical blooms, and the distant calls of seabirds created a serene symphony around them.

Elizabeth rested her head against Lin Yi's shoulder, taking a deep breath. "I don't want this night to end," she murmured.

Lin Yi kissed her temple lightly, his hand brushing her hair back. "Neither do I," he replied softly. "But tomorrow, more adventures await."

They stood for a moment longer, taking in the spectacular view, letting the quiet luxury of the evening sink in. Then, hand in hand, they made their way toward the villa's interior, the private corridors softly lit, guiding them to their bedroom.

Inside, the bed looked inviting, with crisp linens and a faint scent of tropical flowers lingering in the air.

They had their bath and brushing of teeth before, they settled in, and soon drifted toward sleep, knowing this was only the beginning of a truly unforgettable escape.
