Chapter 454 – Ripples
"Elira…is here?"
The Ruler demanded, its words sounding more like a self-rhetorical question than anything else.
Around them, the sea of shadows refused to settle. They rustled and churned, like a man writhing in pain on the ground, before surging skyward in a harrowing manner, then crashing back down like thunder.
The whole room seemed to fold into itself, shrinking and expanding, formless like shadow.
The four dragons gritted their teeth, gulping back any kind of complaint as they did their best to lower their heads, their knees still pressed against whatever the ground truly was.
Only the Ruler was unaffected.
The being sat upon a throne unseen by all, save for a formless mass of shadow whirling and twisting upon itself, oval-shaped, with tendrils of smoke-like darkness writhing outward like hundreds of men's hands trying to grasp something.
But there was something else within that living shadow.
It looked like eyes.
