Chapter 8 - There would be consequences

As I walked down the dimly lit hallway, the soft glow of the wall sconces cast a warm ambiance, illuminating exquisite artworks that told stories of their own. I paused to admire a striking painting, its bold brushstrokes and vibrant colors captivating my attention.

My thoughts drifted back to the staff room, where the tension from meeting my new colleagues still lingered, the delicious food had made me feel welcome. But the encounter with Sophia and Mark still lingered in my mind, leaving me with a sense of unease. Shaking off my thoughts, I continued towards the boss's office, my destination for the afternoon.

As I pushed open the door to the boss's office, the room's silence enveloped me like a shroud. The young master was nowhere to be seen, but the scent of leather and wood polish wafted through the air, hinting at his presence. The silence was almost deafening,I felt my heart skip a beat ,I quickly reassured myself that young master was probably having lunch, well the least I could do was to do my job to distract me from this errie room

I began my work, My fingers moving with precision as I quickly located the cleaning supplies at the far end of the room I started sweeping and mopping the room. The cleaning supplies seemed to hum with quiet efficiency, their scent mingling with the subtle aroma of leather and wood polish that permeated the space.

I quickly moved on to arranging my work space and the young master space ,I mistakenly stumbled on the table leg that when my eyes landed on a stack of invitation cards behind the boss chair, their intricate designs and subtle scent of lavender beckoning me like a siren's call. I felt a flutter in my chest as I bend over and picked up the card from the stack ,my curiosity got the better of me. I felt an inexplicable flutter in my chest as my fingers traced the embossed letters the invitations were to ball being hosted by Young Master, black card with gold intricate designs that seemed to glimmer and a subtle scent of lavender. I wondered where the ball would be held and what the purpose was behind it.

Suddenly, I heard faint footsteps behind me. I spun around, my heart racing, but there was no one there. The silence seemed to stretch out before me, and I felt my skin prickle with goosebumps. I quickly placed the invitations back where I found them, my mind racing with questions and why did I feel like I was trespassing on forbidden territory?,why did I feel like I was being watched

As I finished arranging the desks, I couldn't shake off the feeling that I was still being watched. I glanced around the room, but the shadows seemed to hold secrets, and the silence was oppressive.

I heard the door creaked open, and a tall, breathtaking figure stood in the doorway. He stood before me, his eyes narrowing as he gazed at me. His tailored black suit seemed to absorb the light around him, making his piercing gaze all the more intense. His eyes narrowed as he gazed at me, his expression cold and unforgiving, yet his piercing gaze sent shivers down my spine. He was dressed in a tailored black suit that accentuated his muscles , his white shirt crisp and starched, with a silver dragon brooch adorning his lapel.

His scent wafted towards me, a subtle blend of leather and smoke, with a hint of something sweet and spicy. It was intoxicating, yet intimidating.

"Ah, Miss Jennie, what a pleasant surprise," he said, his voice low and smooth, like honey dripping over dark chocolate. "I see you're making yourself feel at home in my office." I felt a flush rise to my cheeks as he walked past me, his eyes fixed on mine.

As he approached me, his presence dominated the room, and I could feel the weight of his anger. "I see you've been snooping around ," he said

I felt a shiver run down my spine as he walked pass me, his eyes fixed on mine. "I was just...trying to get some work done," I stammered, feeling a flush rise to my cheeks.

He paused at his desk,he raised an eyebrow, his gaze lingering behind the chair where the invitation cards were .," he said, his voice dripping with disdain. "Those invitations are private, Miss Jennie. You'd do well to respect boundaries," I nodded, feeling my heart pounding in my chest. He walked briskly from his seat towards me

As he stood beside me, his presence dominated the room. I could feel the weight of his anger, like the force that threatened to crush me.

"I...I didn't mean to intrude," I stammered, my heart racing.

He leaned in close, his breath whispering against my ear. "You'd do well to be more careful in the future, Miss Jennie. I don't tolerate disobedience or disrespect."

I nodded, feeling my heart pounding in my chest. He stepped back, his eyes never leaving mine.

As he stepped back, his eyes never left mine. "You have work to complete, Miss Jennie. I suggest you focus on that rather than meddling in what doesn't concern you and touching things that don't belong to you " I nodded, feeling a sense of relief mixed with anticipation . I knew I had to be more cautious

He tapped a button on his table as he sat at his desk ,Mr Reg, his loyal butler , appeared behind the door . "Sir, may I come in ?"

The young master nodded, and Mr Reg strode towards the desk, his eyes fixed on the invitation cards. He picked one up, and without a word, he lit a match and held it to the card. The paper crackled and burned, the flames consuming the invitation.

The young master's eyes never left mine, his gaze piercing and intense. "Some things are better left untouched, Miss Jennie," he said, his voice low and menacing.

I nodded, feeling a sense of unease wash over me. But I couldn't look away from his eyes, those piercing orbs that seemed to see right through me.

"You may continue with your work Jennie and Reg you can go," he said, his voice cold and detached. "But be warned: any further...indiscretions will not be tolerated."

I nodded, feeling a sense of relief mixed with fear. I knew I had to be careful around him, this young master with the power to make me tremble.

As I returned to my work, I couldn't shake off the feeling that I was being watched, that the young master's blue eyes were fixed on me, piercing through my very soul, I couldn't help but feel a sense of unease. The young master's words still lingered in my mind, and I couldn't shake off the feeling that I was being watched. I tried to focus on my tasks placed on my desk, but my mind kept wandering back to the invitation cards and the ball.

As I started sorting documents for my work, I couldn't help but glance at the young master, who was sitting at his desk, his eyes fixed on some papers in front of him. He seemed lost in work, and for a moment, I forgot about the tension between us ,he looked up, his piercing eyes locking onto mine. "Miss Jennie," he said, his voice low and husky. "I trust this wouldn't repeat it self in the future or else there would be consequences Kitten, ...you are dismissed for the day."

I nodded, feeling the air turn cold ,a shiver ran down my spine. "Yes, sir," I replied, my voice barely above a whisper.

As I stood up and left the office, I couldn't help but wonder what lay ahead. The young master's words still lingered in my mind, and I knew I had to be careful around him. But a part of me was drawn to him, to the secrets he kept and the mysteries that surrounded him.

As I stood in the hallway, I hesitated, weighing my options. Should I head back to the staff room, where the staff would likely try to probe me for information about myself or threaten me or should I retreat to my room, seeking some solitude to process the events of the day?

The staff room seemed like a hub of gossip and speculation, with all the interaction and disgust glances still fresh in my mind. On the other hand, my room offered a quiet refuge, a place where I could reflect on myself and how my day went ,young master's words and actions without distraction.

As I deliberated, my feet seemed to make the decision for me, carrying me towards the end of the hallway that led to my room. The soft glow of the hallway lights cast long shadows on the floor, and I felt a sense of relief wash over me as I ascended the stairs.

Perhaps some time alone would help me clear my head and make sense of the mysteries surrounding the young master and the ball. I reached my room, pushed open the door, and stepped inside, feeling the quiet calm of the space envelop me
