The 5 remaining were completely shaken to their core. After all, Troy had just returned to his unconscious wife. Cynthia had just witnessed her brother and his best friend kill in cold blood.
It was a chilling, deadly reminder of what the world was becoming. That there wasn't any more light or good. That there was simply the living and the dead.
Turning to his sister, Adam hugged her tightly as he asked, "Are you OK? They- they didn't do anything, right?"
Shrugging, she said, "Well, they did a lot actually. That's why they're dead, idiot brother."
'That's cold...' Adam thought, but laughed all the same. If her snarky self was returning, maybe it would all be ok.
Turning to Faye, he offered a smile as he said, "Thanks."
She flashed a smile of her own before replying, "For what? You think I'd let this asshole die?"
For a moment, they forgot about the apocalypse.
