Chapter 324 - Chapter 324

The reason for all this talk was just to provoke the opponent—to force them into revealing their Pokémon early so that he could formulate a counter-strategy. After all, the opponent had already sent out one Legendary Pokémon. Who knew if he had a second or even a third up his sleeve?

If it was just one or two Legendary Pokémon, then Nathan would stick to the plan he came up with the night before and proceed accordingly.

However, if the opponent really brought out a third Legendary Pokémon, he would rather give up on earning the highest-tier rewards and opt to use all three of his own Legendary Pokémon as well.

"Sure enough, power breeds confidence. But that confidence of yours is going to shatter starting today!"

"Come out—Zapdos!" Gregor shouted as he threw a Poké Ball, summoning the Legendary Electric-type Pokémon that had already appeared in battle yesterday.

The moment Zapdos appeared, the livestream chat completely exploded.

A barrage of comments flooded the screen, almost covering it entirely.

"Nathan, that's just the first one! Next… come out, Darkrai!"

Another Poké Ball flew through the air. This time, it was another Legendary Pokémon—Darkrai, the embodiment of nightmares.

The moment Darkrai appeared, everyone present felt a flash of their deepest fears surface in their minds. Fortunately, the sensation lasted only a moment before disappearing.

Darkrai!

Nathan immediately felt a headache coming on. Why did it have to be that one? Among the Legendary Pokémon, Darkrai was considered one of the most troublesome.

Compared to Entei and the others—or even Zapdos—Darkrai's abilities and move set were nothing short of infuriating. It was the kind of opponent that could make even the most seasoned trainers pull their hair out.

"What's the matter? Feeling scared? If you feel like this is too much, you can just admit defeat now. At least your Pokémon won't have to suffer," Gregor said smugly, laughing as he noticed Nathan frown slightly.

"Scared? Of course I'm scared... but what I'm scared of is you pulling out a third Legendary Pokémon."

Nathan feigned fear as he replied, but Gregor didn't seem to realize it was just an act.

Indeed, strong Pokémon often make their Trainers arrogant, dulling their instincts and judgment.

"Hah, our country—Calica—only sent two Legendary Pokémon into the tournament, and I've already shown both of them. But just these two... can you handle them?" Gregor boasted arrogantly.

Idiot. A total idiot.

Nathan hadn't even sent out a single Pokémon yet, and the fool had already given away his full strength.

This move was as brilliant as it was foolish.

Still, upon hearing that, Nathan did feel slightly relieved.

Victory was within reach.

Now, the only thing that remained to be seen was whether he could still secure the best possible mission rewards.

-----------------------

Despite his arrogant words, Gregor went ahead and released his third Pokémon anyway.

His third was a pseudo-Legendary Garchomp.

Despite being Dragon and Ground-type, Garchomp's speed was far superior to many other Pokémon.

Its fin-like wings looked small, yet they could easily carry its body through the air—and fast, too.

"Well, Nathan? I've given you a chance to forfeit. If you still want to continue this battle, then don't blame me for what happens next," Gregor said, shrugging as Garchomp landed beside him.

Nathan gave a faint chuckle and sent out Mewtwo and Frosmoth.

The moment Gregor saw Nathan only bring out a champion-tier Frosmoth and a pseudo-champion, he burst into laughter.

"With this lineup, you think you can beat me? That's just wishful thinking!"

To him, it was absurd.

The difference between Elite-tier and Champion-tier wasn't just a single step—it was a massive leap in terms of strength.

But Gregor's arrogant laughter didn't bother Nathan at all.

Instead, Nathan quietly took out one more Poké Ball. A flash of white light later, the elegant and powerful Suicune appeared on the battlefield.

Another Legendary Pokémon had entered the fray, prompting gasps from those still lingering on the main island.

Legendary again!

Nathan had actually brought a Legendary Pokémon into the competition as well!

As expected, this genius Trainer never failed to surprise people.

However, just in terms of sheer strength, Nathan was still slightly outmatched—after all, he was one Legendary short.

"Impressive. You actually have a Legendary Pokémon too," Gregor said with visible surprise.

"But with just one Legendary, what makes you think you can win against me?"

"What makes me think so?" Nathan grinned mischievously. "You're about to find out."

The referee, looking at the sheer number of high-level Pokémon on the field, began to get nervous.

"I suggest everyone leave the island…" he mumbled.

There were three Legendary Pokémon, one Champion-tier Pokémon, one nearly Champion-tier Mewtwo, and a pseudo-Legendary Garchomp.

If this battle went all out, the level of destruction would be unimaginable.

The safest option? Get far away from the island—or better yet, abandon it entirely.

Everyone got the message loud and clear. Without arguing, the spectators turned and ran.

The last time Nathan and Fujiwara Taka had battled with just two Champion level Pokémon, they completely destroyed a tournament arena.

Now, with this lineup, there was no doubt:

When the dust settled, the island would either be underwater… or reduced to nothing but rubble.

"Suicune, I'm counting on you to stall those two Legendary Pokémon for me, even just for a short while,"

Nathan whispered to Suicune, who nodded firmly and locked eyes on Zapdos and Darkrai.

Meanwhile, Nathan kept his hands busy. He activated Mewtwo's Mega Evolution, transforming it into Mega Mewtwo X.

"Frosmoth, use Mist! Cover the entire island!"

Nathan was well aware that he was at a disadvantage. If he wanted to flip the battlefield in his favor, he needed to create an opening—an advantage.

The first step? Take out Garchomp.

Frosmoth flapped its wings, releasing a dense mist that soon enveloped the entire island.

On the edges of the battlefield, visibility was still somewhat manageable. But in the center, you could barely see five meters ahead.

With their vision obstructed, Gregor didn't panic. Instead, he gave a command:

"Zapdos, use Thunder! Full-island coverage attack!"

Zapdos screeched, flying into the air and unleashing bolts of lightning across the island at random.

Explosions echoed nonstop as lightning struck from the skies.

The people who had just evacuated the island breathed a sigh of relief.

Good thing they left when they did.

If they'd stayed any longer, they might not even know what hit them.

With the entire island blanketed in fog and random bolts of lightning raining down, how could anyone dodge?

Amid the chaos, Nathan's three Pokémon split up.

Thanks to Mewtwo's exceptional sensory abilities, it was able to maneuver through the fog with ease.

Despite the lightning raining from above, not a single bolt touched Mewtwo.

Both sides were on the move.

No matter how arrogant Gregor had been before the battle started, once it began, he could no longer take Nathan lightly.

Soon, Mewtwo caught a glimpse of Garchomp retreating through the fog.

Clearly, Gregor didn't want to lose a Pokémon too early in the fight.

But once Mewtwo had locked on, escape was no longer an option.

"Use Aura Sphere to pin it down, then follow up with Mega Punch!" Nathan ordered.

Mewtwo quickly launched an Aura Sphere.

It struck the retreating Garchomp, making it stumble.

Before Garchomp could recover, Mewtwo closed the gap and landed a crushing Mega Punch, slamming the pseudo-Legendary deep into the ground.

"Oops—caught you!" Nathan said playfully.

Gregor, sensing his Garchomp was under attack, immediately sent Darkrai to assist.

If one of Nathan's Pokémon was near Garchomp, then the goal was simple: have Darkrai arrive in time, and he might not only save his own Pokémon but also knock out one of Nathan's.

But getting Darkrai to Garchomp was no easy task—because Suicune was already in pursuit.

A beam of Bubble Beam shot through the mist, cutting off Darkrai's path.

Suicune stood in its way, refusing to let the nightmare Pokémon pass.

Darkrai dodged the beam and locked eyes with Suicune.

"Damn it! Nathan's Pokémon are a real pain!"

"But I've got more than one Legendary too…"

Gregor muttered, shifting tactics.

He ordered Zapdos to descend and support Garchomp from the air.

Now that Suicune had its hands full stalling Darkrai, let's see—how will Nathan stop Zapdos?
