Chapter 159 - Chapter 159 ⭃ Felix Felicis and the Crup

"What is this..."

Cedric saw Kyle staring blankly at a thumb-sized bottle and curiously moved closer.

"Strange, there's no label on it." He frowned and asked with confusion, "Could it be that someone from St. Mungo's misplaced it?"

"With eyesight like that, how are you even a Seeker? You should retire now before you embarrass yourself." Kyle reached out his hand, pointing at the bottle and said, "Look carefully, the label is right here... huh?"

He suddenly froze before finishing his sentence.

Because he discovered that where his finger was pointing, there was nothing — the words that had been written there had somehow completely disappeared.

"There's nothing there... you must have been mistaken." After carefully examining the bottle again and confirming there was indeed no label, Cedric smiled and said, "By the way, the final Quidditch selection is in a few days. You should stop wandering around at night, or you might be too groggy during the trials and throw the Quaffle outside the goal posts..."

With that, he turned his head and started talking about something else with George.

"Strange..." Kyle muttered, looking at the bottle in his hand.

He was certain that when he first saw the bottle, there had been the words "Veritaserum" written in golden cursive script. But in the blink of an eye, these words had completely vanished without a trace.

"It can't be that I was really seeing things... well, I'll look into it more carefully later." Kyle shook his head, put the bottle in his pocket, and continued examining the potions in the box.

Compared to Veritaserum, the remaining potions were much more ordinary. Although some were quite expensive, they could all be found in shops.

Soon, there was only one bottle left in the box that hadn't been examined. It was placed in the farthest corner of the box, and the bottle was even smaller than the Veritaserum. When Kyle carefully took it out, a collective gasp sounded from those around him.

"No way..." Cedric's eyes widened in disbelief as he said, "Is that Felix Felicis?!"

Inside the bottle, the golden liquid swayed slightly with Kyle's movement. Cedric's eyes followed the liquid up and down.

"What? Felix Felicis!"

At this point, Fred and George also moved closer, asking curiously, "Is this the legendary lucky potion?"

"It has to be." Cedric nodded knowingly, "Although this is also my first time seeing real Felix Felicis, I've seen it in books. It looks exactly like this, and look, it's written right here."

As he spoke, he pointed to a label near the bottle's mouth that was barely larger than a grain of rice.

"It really is Felix Felicis!" Fred exclaimed.

Like Cedric, this was also his first time seeing real Felix Felicis. Before this, it had been like the Elder Wand from storybooks to him — the stuff of legends.

The three of them stared at the Felix Felicis in Kyle's hand, not daring to even blink, until they reluctantly left when there were only five minutes remaining before class.

Kanna also looked curiously at the bottle, though as she stared at it, it seemed increasingly familiar...

"Still don't remember? Don't tell me you've forgotten."

On the way to Charms class, Kyle took out the bottle of Felix Felicis again and waved it in front of Kanna.

"As a reminder, last year's Christmas gift."

"Christmas... oh, I remember now!" Kanna stopped in her tracks and exclaimed, "I recall Professor Snape gave me a potion bottle just like this. So it really was Felix Felicis."

"Not cold medicine anymore?" Kyle drawled.

Kanna seemed to catch his meaning; her face reddened as she turned away embarrassed, offering a quiet explanation.

After all, she hadn't known about Professor Snape's connection to the Prince family at the time, so her disbelief was understandable. Besides, what professor would give a student Felix Felicis as a gift? That seemed rather outlandish.

"Now you believe it, right?" Kyle asked with a smile.

Just as Kanna was about to nod, she suddenly thought of something and looked up at him with an unfriendly expression, "Wait, did you already know Professor Snape knew me back then? Have you been laughing at me this whole time?"

"You're overthinking it, really." Kyle shook his head and explained, "I only found out a few days before the holiday."

Kanna wrinkled her nose and asked, "Then how were you so sure that the potion he gave me was Felix Felicis?"

Kyle replied casually, "Because that's what Felix Felicis looks like."

"That simple?"

"Of course..." Kyle smiled and said, "Though it also has to do with the professor's personality. Professor Snape doesn't make those kinds of jokes."

The Hogwarts professors all had different personalities. If it had been Professor Flitwick who gave Kanna the gift, it might indeed have been cold medicine. He had done similar things before.

His father had mentioned during a casual conversation that Professor Flitwick once gave all the students staying at school for Christmas a Ravenclaw diadem. However, the students soon discovered it was actually chocolate, just molded into the shape of a diadem by the professor's magic.

"I see..." Kanna nodded thoughtfully.

Thinking about it carefully, she realized Professor Snape indeed wouldn't do such unnecessary things.

"Oh, here, this is for you." As they were approaching the Charms classroom, Kyle suddenly took a small bottle from his pocket and held it out to her.

It was the Felix Felicis that Snape had given to Kanna. He hadn't dared to keep it anywhere else and had been carrying it with him the whole time.

Kanna looked at Kyle but didn't take it.

"You're really giving it to me?"

"What kind of question is that... it's yours to begin with." Kyle laughed.

He had kept it for her before because she had been losing things, and it hadn't seemed safe to leave the Felix Felicis with her. Now that the thieving "rat" was gone, there was no need to worry.

Kanna still didn't move.

"What are you waiting for? Take it." Kyle urged when she remained motionless, "Class is about to start."

"I don't want it..."

"What?" Kyle was stunned, thinking he'd misheard.

This was Felix Felicis, after all...

"I said, I don't want it." Kanna suddenly smiled. Standing at the door of the Charms classroom with her hands behind her back, she said, "Since I gave it to you, it's yours now. I don't want to be a Crup with two tails..."
