Chapter 45 - Classes Part-2

[

Mana Child

A being deeply attuned to the flow of mana, capable of instinctively manipulating it at a level beyond trained mages. Mana Children often develop unconventional casting styles, breaking the normal rules of magic to perform feats others deem impossible.

]

Peter couldn't help but laugh—the description definitely didn't suit him.

He hadn't cast a single spell since birth.

Deeply attuned to the flow of mana? Not a chance.

Instinctively manipulating it? Maybe if you counted using Mana Sense via Split Focus.

He probably unlocked it thanks to his monstrous mana pool.

[

Knight

A warrior bound by honour, chivalry, and duty. Knights excel in both combat and leadership, wielding weapons with mastery and inspiring those around them. Some develop divine blessings or unique techniques that empower them in battle.

]

By this world's standards, Peter fit the definition—a warrior bound by honour, chivalry, and duty, at least by his modern sensibilities and moral code. Divine blessings seemed far-fetched, but his unique skills likely counted as unique techniques.

[

Spirit Magician

A spellcaster who communicates with and borrows power from spirits. Spirit Magicians form contracts with elemental or ethereal beings, allowing them to cast magic beyond their own capabilities. Their magic often has a life of its own, shaped by the will of their spirit partners.

]

Spirit Magic was an ideal casting method for Peter—at least until he settled on a personal magic system. Among the many techniques available, such as rune magic, elemental manipulation, intent-based casting, and spell skills, it felt like the best temporary choice.

[

Eldritch Summoner

A summoner who calls upon beings from beyond the known world. Their summons may be divine, demonic, or alien in nature, often possessing reality-warping abilities. Eldritch Summoners must tread carefully, as their power may come at great cost.

Spirit Summoner

A summoner who specializes in calling forth spirits rather than physical creatures. Spirit Summoners can bind souls, channel ancestral knowledge, and even invoke legendary figures from the past. Their abilities often provide immense wisdom, protection, or supernatural influence.

]

Peter wanted nothing to do with either of these classes. Eldritch creatures were too great a risk when he had safer and more reliable sources of power. As for summoning the ghosts of real people? That went against his moral code.

If he ever formed a summoning pact, it would be on his terms—heavily in his favour. He had no interest in making a contract like that with a sentient being.

He turned his attention to the last two Unusual-grade class options.

[

Weapons Prodigy

A rare combatant with an instinctive affinity for weapons. Weapons Prodigies do not need formal training—given any weapon, they can wield it with extraordinary efficiency. Their reflexes, adaptability, and mastery grow at an astonishing rate, making them formidable from a young age.

Prodigy

A gifted individual whose talent surpasses normal limits in multiple fields. Prodigies can adapt quickly, master skills at record speed, and possess an intuitive understanding of complex concepts, making them natural-born geniuses in magic, combat, or craftsmanship.

]

Both had Prodigy in their names, but Prodigy was by far the more valuable choice. It encompassed everything I wanted—a highly generalized class that would allow me to gain experience from every task. If I didn't have some Rare-grade classes available, I would have picked it immediately.

Finally, I turned my focus to Rare Classes.

[

System Contributor

An existence directly linked to the governing forces of the world's system. System Contributors have the ability to influence, modify, or even create new system functions, making them anomalies in the natural order. They might gain hidden knowledge, create unique skills, or alter progression mechanics that others cannot. Their very existence shapes fate, and their actions may have repercussions far beyond their understanding. However, this power comes at a cost—whether through external forces monitoring them, unknown responsibilities, or the burden of wielding an authority that even divine respect.

]

Peter was momentarily stunned after reading the class description.

That last sentence… That was exactly why he was so paranoid and cautious.

He had never shared his unique nature with anyone—because the last thing he wanted was to wake up one day in a lab, strapped to a table, experimented on, and tortured for his secrets. Even divine would be jealous of him.

Despite all the fancy words used in the description, it was a very specialized class. He would rather choose Prodigy compared to this.

He turned his attention to the second rare grade class.

[

Spirit Magi

An elite spellcaster who has forged an unbreakable bond with spirits, transcending the limits of mortal magic. Spirit Magi can channel, embody, and even merge with their contracted spirits, drawing upon their full power. Unlike traditional summoners, who merely borrow power, Spirit Magi become a conduit for spiritual energy, allowing them to wield unparalleled abilities. Their summons are often ancient or divine beings, possessing wisdom beyond human comprehension. However, mastering this class requires immense spiritual harmony, and failure to maintain balance could lead to disastrous consequences, including possession or loss of self.

]

It seemed to be an upgraded fusion of Spirit Magician and Eldritch Summoner. But with greater power came even greater risk—especially with a class like this.

Peter rejected it without hesitation.

Finally, he turned to the last class with an unusual name.

[

Joker

A gifted individual whose talent surpasses normal limits, yet instead of mastering one field, they spread their potential across many. The Joker is a jack-of-all-trades but master of none—versatile beyond measure but not yet reaching the peak in any single domain. Their rapid learning speed and intuitive grasp of complex concepts make them highly adaptable, allowing them to wield a variety of skills, weapons, and magic with ease. However, this adaptability comes at a cost. When true mastery is required, they may find themselves lacking the depth of a dedicated specialist. In the short term, their scattered focus can be a weakness, but those who persist and learn to weave their diverse talents into a cohesive fighting style can become unpredictable forces of nature, capable of overcoming even the most specialized opponents.

]

It was an upgraded version of the Prodigy class. That settled it—Peter knew exactly which class he would choose in the morning.

For now, though, all he wanted was sleep.
