"Once the liquid is heated to thirty degrees, put in your ingredients, one after the other, after a one minute lag each".
-Three stalks of samsara grass,
-Three petals of the casted flower, and
-Five leaves of the azure mint.
Now if I don't put the ingredients in the correct sequence, I would risk the potion going three ways. One it would be a dud, two it'll become poisonous, and last but not least, it'll explode on my face. So I was extra careful with the sequence. Once I had done this steps, then came the next which was closing the lid of the cauldron, while increasing the heat to ninety degrees. After I closed the lid, I noticed that numerous cadets had already come to this point. Honestly this potion wasn't that hard to make, I doubt any one would even fail to succeed.
"BOOOM!" It seems I spoke too soon. A cadets cauldron, or rather the concoction exploded, to the point that the pressure sealed lid came off and hit his face.
"Argh!" he screamed before slurping on the floor. I ignored all sound around me, and after five minutes, the cauldron was ready to be opened again. Once I opened the lid, the liquid inside the cauldron was divided into three distinct parts. One part golden, one was bluish white, and the last one was mint green.
Now all that was left to do, was to add the serene dust. I remember clearly in the steps, it said, 'a pinch of serene dust'. I sprinkled the golden dust all over the three distinct liquids. If it releases black smoke, it means it succeeded, if it doesn't, it means it's a dud, and if it explodes, it means it's poisonous.
"Alright her we go, the moment of truth"."Hisses!" the potions started releasing black smoke, and were slowly melding together. Until all that remained was a glowing golden liquid. I placed a tube at the faucet at the lower bottom of the cauldron, and the golden liquid flowed into the tube.
"My very own healing potion" I muttered with pride. I corked the tube, and called for the instructor's attention. I had heard other cadets who had finished theirs do the same.
"Instructor Connor" I called.
"It seems we have our twelfth cadet. A hundred points for..." she trailed off.
"Adam Walker" I gave my name. Over at the front, I saw Owen giving me a thumbs up. So I also replied with one. It seemed he had also succeeded. To be honest if Owen had failed, I wouldn't be surprised. He wasn't particularly an academic student.
I soon forgot about Owen's matter, as a ping alerted me, I had received a hundred points. One could never have too much points.
After the little practical session that netted me a hundred points, the instructor went on to explain that every class, we would try a new potion. And that it would be best for us to practice in our free time. But for that we would have to buy the ingredients with points. It won't be free like in class.
By the time the four hour class ended, my eyes had already started to feel droopy. "Man a four hour class is too long!" Owen commented as we came out of the academic block.
"Tell me about it" I drawled. Frankly towards the end of the class, many would be in between the real world and Morpheus' realm.
Couldn't they have done two different classes, with a one hour break between them?
We separated when we got to the dorms. When I got to my dorm, the first thing I did was crash right into my couch. "Thank goodness I don't have any training session with Aurora today" I muttered.
After an hour of twisting and turning on the couch, I finally decided to get up. A man's gotta do what a man's gotta do. The reason I had taken a break from Aurora was because of my personal training. Or more specifically my second bloodline.
During the past weeks, I realized that it was easier to use second bloodline on myself, than on other people or things. I also figured out an easier way for me to utilize my second bloodline. Now I can't be pronouncing the sentences of the origin language during a fight. Any capable opponent would deal with me by that time. So I shortened the words I needed to speak by making up for it with my intent.
Imagine a sword that was certain to hit me, but suddenly fails, because I use my second bloodline to suddenly increase the distance between the sword and my body, thereby making it miss. Sure it takes a lot of essence, but it was worth it.
My only limitation was my essence, but there were so many ideas I had come up with. For example imagine an energy attack about to strike me, and I say —flowers—, then the energy attack suddenly turns to flowers. Just imagining the theatrics was enough to make me grin.
Alas I was still far away from that, maybe until I reached rank 2. But for now, I could already teleport, just by saying the —displace—, and using my intent to visualize where I want to be teleported to. But I hadn't yet shown it to anyone, and wasn't planning to anytime soon. Because then I would have to explain it, and I wasn't keen on talking about my second bloodline's capabilities.
Sure I could lie that teleporting was my second bloodline. It was probably fine since the once two bloodlines that have been deemed as rare was now so common. There are at least twenty cadets in the special class with two bloodlines. The top ten included. How did I know? Well when I use the origin sight(origin sight is what I call the sight he uses to see the characters/symbols of the origin language), everything, and I mean everything appears to me in strings and sequence of characters. I could see everything about everyone like I was reading a book, or a code.
Though I haven't reached the level where I could tell what type of bloodline a person had, that information was currently beyond what I could see. Still I could tell how many bloodline a person has. I guess it was some kind of tactic understanding that I wasn't aware of between people holding two bloodlines to keep it under wraps.
I didn't want to be the first to break the status quo, so I still didn't intend on people finding out I could teleport. I got up and entered my closet, —display— I muttered waving my hand. I also figured out that subtle actions like waving my hands can help in precise execution in the command. My clothes and my clothes only unhung themselves and started to levitate before me. I chose one to wear. —equip— I said once again, and the clothe on the hanger was now on my body, while the uniform on my body was now on the hanger.
It wasn't that I was too lazy to change myself, okay maybe a bit too lazy, but the reason I was doing this was to make using the abilities second nature to me by including it in my day to day activities. And it was working pretty well, it was taking less and less essence as the days go by, and more finesse and ease. Even though the reduction in essence consumption was minimal, it was still progress. If it was before, this two commands I initiated would have drained me of half my reserves, but now after repeated use, it only drained about 28% of my reserves. Now I had to go train, but first I need some supplements.
You see these past few days, I had also learned a little something, 'an eye for an eye', the principle of equivalent exchange. It was just as it sounds, I could exchange something for another of equal value. And the thing is, it requires no essence, unless if what I want to exchange is less than what I want to exchange it for, then my essence would compensate for the rest. I went into my kitchen and brought out several ingredients, after that I muttered —exchange—. The ingredients before me warped and disappeared, leaving me with a bowl piping hot meal. "Magnificent" I muttered, I would never get enough of this. Only about two percent of my remaining essence was used.
After eating my fill, I stretched for a bit before I muttered —displace—. I found myself in a mountainous region, it wasn't the same mountain in our morning course, but it was infact the closest mountain to the dorms. It was about three hundred miles away from the dorms. On the day I delved this far from the dorm, I only risked coming here knowing that I could teleport back at anytime, given I still had enough essence. The more distance I teleport, the more essence it takes.
"Now time to finally get this training started" I muttered.
