Chapter 211: Lynn: No Thanks, It's No Big Deal
Regis is absolutely trustworthy.
In fact, his character is more righteous than most nobles.
And Regis isn't Dettlaff.
Dettlaff is a classic example of someone severely lacking love.
So, if anyone shows him kindness, he pours his heart out to them.
Even Regis could see that his "lover" had dumped him, yet Dettlaff insisted his "lover" was kidnapped.
When he discovered the situation was worse than Regis described—not just a breakup, but being used—Dettlaff couldn't accept it. He immediately went dark, wanting to destroy this world that had Yennefer (or rather, the person who caused his pain, to mirror Obito's Rin, hence the "world with Rin").
Compared to Dettlaff, Regis is different.
He's seen more of the world than Dettlaff has eaten rice; he wouldn't be love-struck like Dettlaff and fooled by Syanna's simple tricks.

As the group crossed the Yaruga River, keeping the Mahakaman Mountains consistently on their right.
Heading north, when they reached Vizima, the capital of Temeria, they felt a sense of timelessness.
They had only been away from the North for a few short months.
Yet, it felt as though a very long time had passed.
Considering the group didn't intend to stay long in Temeria, and due to their large numbers, they didn't enter Vizima. Instead, they stayed a night in a village outside the city.
When night fell deep enough for everyone to be asleep.
Lynn, alone, left the village and headed to Vizima Lake nearby.
The cold lake water covered his ankles.
At some unknown point, everything around him had changed.
The village by Vizima Lake and Vizima city in the distance had vanished, leaving only the endless lake surface, submerging his ankles, and an impossibly large full moon in the sky.
Beneath the full moon, a beautiful maiden in light gauze, with bare jade feet, stood upon the lake's surface.
"Lady."
Lynn bowed.
The Lady of the Lake's voice carried an indescribable magic, making the listener feel light and ethereal.
"I thought you wouldn't return."
"I promised to return the Grail to you, and I wouldn't break my word."
Lynn felt a bit sheepish.
He had originally planned everything out.
Take the Holy Grail, go back and heal Duchess Anna Henrietta. Once everything in Toussaint was done, then on the way back North, pass by Lake Selavy and return the Grail to the Lady of the Lake.
What he didn't expect was that Fringilla would open a portal, sending him and Syanna directly to the Yaruga River Valley.
If it were just him, he wouldn't mind retracing his steps.
But the problem was, he also had Syanna with him.
As he had once warned Syanna, she was the Child of Disaster exiled from Toussaint. If she returned to Toussaint, it would not only put her in danger but also threaten Duchess Anna Henrietta's rule.
That's why Lynn didn't go back but chose to return the Grail at Vizima Lake.
The Lady of the Lake seemed to read his thoughts.
After hearing the witcher's explanation, she showed no anger.
Instead, she beckoned.
The Holy Grail flew out from his runic leather satchel, sinking into the lake water.
"Young warrior, you have proven your courage and honor through your actions. Now, I will bestow upon you a sacred mission."
"This mission is not mandatory; you may refuse if you wish."
Lynn recalled the game plot of The Witcher 1.
He could roughly guess what the Lady of the Lake's sacred mission was.
So he performed another knight's bow: "Lady, of course, I am willing to fight for you."
A look of satisfaction appeared on the Lady of the Lake's beautiful face.
"You truly did not disappoint me... I suppose you can guess that the monster I want you to face is the Evil God Dagon."
Without waiting for Lynn to speak, the Lady of the Lake continued.
"But you need not worry. The Evil God Dagon is not a god in the true sense. His presence in this world is merely a projection that arrived here through a serendipitous coincidence. His true body is an unimaginable distance from this world."
"Of course, even if it is just a shadow of its former self, Dagon's power is not something you can currently contend with."
"Therefore, I will not ask you to waste your life in a futile sacrifice."
"I hope you will further enhance your strength and gather more allies before formally attempting to slay the Evil God Dagon."
"Once you successfully defeat the Evil God Dagon, I shall bestow upon you supreme glory and reward."
Lynn responded without hesitation, in a solemn tone.
"Yes, noble Lady, I shall not fail your expectations."
Reality is not a game.
In the game, the reward for completing a god's quest was only a single Aerondight sword.
But if he could forge a good relationship with a deity in reality, wouldn't there be more benefits?
Furthermore.
Although the known world where people live seems to have been conquered by humans.
In fact, the known world where humans live is only a part of this complete world.
Many unknown dangers still lurk in The Witcher world.
For example, the Unseen Elder who resides in Toussaint.
Or, for instance, the "Master Mirror," Gaunter O'Dimm, who left a deep impression in The Witcher games.
Their powers are not something mortals can contend with.
Especially Master Mirror.
His influence on mortals is not only physical.
It also extends to mental and even fundamental, law-based corruption.
Therefore.
Before Lynn had a way to resist such corruption, seeking the protection of a benevolent deity, or even forging a deeper connection with one, was a wise approach.
Lynn's response pleased the Lady of the Lake even more.
A few more sparkles appeared in her eyes.
She chuckled softly, and her figure suddenly appeared before the witcher.
Without waiting for the witcher to react, she extended a soft, fair hand and gently stroked the witcher's face.
A gentle, subtle fragrance accompanied the goddess's soft voice.
"Noble, brave, fearless... You are practically the embodiment of the Five Virtues of Knighthood. Now, close your eyes, warrior, and accept a small reward from me."
....
When Lynn returned to the village where they were staying in the morning, he unexpectedly saw Geralt practicing swordplay at the village entrance.
It was as if Geralt was specifically waiting for him.
Seeing Lynn return, Geralt put away his sword: "Where have you been?"
Lynn didn't answer, instead posing a question.
"Why are you out here?"
"Couldn't sleep in the middle of the night, and noticed you weren't in bed... Did you go to the city?"
Geralt gave him a knowing look, the kind men understand: "Next time, you can call me. I know which places in Vizima are best for a man to relax and aren't expensive."
The White Wolf's suggestion was met with an eye-roll from Lynn.
