The special group that had gathered with the sole purpose of eliminating Max had finally decided to move together.
It had become clear that Dipter wouldn't be enough to defeat Max on his own. Each time Max survived another attack or proved himself capable of handling the people surrounding him, the image they had formed of their opponent changed.
Max had become more dangerous in their minds than they had originally expected.
Even Chad, who knew very little about fighting, could tell that it would be nearly impossible for Max to win against all of them. At least, not without someone helping him.
That was why Chad was desperately trying to do whatever he could.
Compared to Jett and Darius, no one had considered Chad much of a threat. Because of who he was, the men guarding the hostages hadn't even bothered to tie him properly.
That carelessness had given him a chance.
