Chapter 42 - Morikawa’s family reunion

"Hello, sweetheart. Is it good time?" — Morikawa Masaru, Tomoki's father.

"Yeah! Tomoki already left for Edomae-san's house." — Morikawa Haruka, Tomoki's mother.

"Then it's a good time to start."

"You're right. I've been waiting for this~."

"It's kind of hot in here... mind if I join too?" — Morikawa Sayori.

"We're not here for that… unless Masaru-kun wants it too." — Morikawa Serina.

"Hey! What are you all doing? Don't leave me out!" — Morikawa Mizuno.

"Haha… I wonder what Tomo-kun would say if he saw us like this." — Morikawa Yuna.

"..." — Everyone fell silent.

"He'd hate it. He doesn't like the fact that I have more than one wife."

"But he usually wants to be spoiled by you. I was surprised when you two fought. What happened, Haruka-san?" — Sayori.

"I don't know. Ever since he graduated from junior school, I feel like he changed." — Haruka.

"Maybe it's just a rebellious phase. He's still a kid." — Serina.

"The last time I saw him in the park, he was still the same kind boy we know. Don't worry too much." — Mizuno.

"But I remember the day we picked up Masaru-san… The way Tomoki looked at us gave me chills. It was like—" - Yuna.

"He was in disdain. He made that face when I asked him if he wanted to move with me. I thought he was being childish, but… he was just worried about Haruka. I realized that too late. No wonder he's disappointed in me."

"No, darling, he doesn't see you that way. If he did, he wouldn't have tried to talk to you that day." — Haruka.

"There's no way he hates you! You're the kindest and most caring father in the world!" — Sayori.

"She's right. We all know you're doing your best. Have more faith in yourself." — Serina.

"I bet he still wants to hang out with you. You're the best dad ever!" — Mizuno.

"Fights happen. What matters is making amends, right?" — Yuna.

"Thank you, everyone. I don't know what I'd do without you all."

"Masaru~" — Haruka.

"Masaru-san~" — Sayori.

"Masaru-kun~" — Serina.

"Masaru-tan~" — Mizuno.

"Masaru-nii~" — Yuna.

They all kissed him.

"So, what's the plan? We could all just live together again." — Sayori.

"She's right. And we promise not to push Tomoki anymore. We've reflected on that." — Serina.

"Yeah… we feel bad about what happened. If I had a son, I'd have reacted the same way." — Mizuno.

"We really missed you, Haruka-san." — Yuna.

"I'll think about it. I need to talk with Tomoki first. But what about your daughters? Are they okay with it?" — Haruka.

"Mine's fine. She doesn't talk much, but she's not against it." — Sayori.

"Mine misses your son. After all, she's his big sister." — Serina.

"No problem here either. Mine is totally fine!" — Mizuno.

"Uhmm… mine's okay, but since she's really spoiled by Masaru-nii, when she heard about the fight, she hasn't seen Tomo-kun in a good light." — Yuna.

"I'll talk to her again, Yuna. She needs to understand it's not Tomoki's fault—it's mine. I want all my children to get along."

"..." — Everyone fell silent again.

"Hey, I heard Tomoki's getting along with Edomae's daughter. He's aiming pretty high!" — Sayori.

"He's not that kind of boy! It's too early for him to get involved in romance." — Haruka.

"Well, he's kind to women and cute too. When I heard he got a scholarship to Sakurazai Academy, I was shocked. Your son is amazing. My woman's intuition says—she fell for him." — Serina.

"Serina-chan, it's not intuition when it's that obvious. Any woman would fall for a man like him. Just like we did." — Mizuno.

"But Mizuno-san, we're talking about the Edomae family! Never in my life did I imagine we'd be connected to them somehow. If Serina-san is right, Tomo-kun's a lady killer."

"Hahaha! That's my boy! But I'm a bit worried about his safety, going alone to the Edomae house. I'm more surprised you let him go, Haruka." — Masaru.

"~Sigh… Tomoki really trusts her. And like Serina said, she loves him. From what I've seen, she would never dare to hurt him. But Tomoki's awareness is lacking. No… more like he lost it after graduating junior school..." — Haruka.

"Well, if he marries her, at least he's financially secure." — Sayori.

"That's a valid point. But that's not everything. I bet she won't let him have more than one wife." — Serina.

"If I'm not wrong, Edomae Akane, the current company president, is the only wife of Edomae Elias. A lot of people say how lucky he is to have such a powerful woman." — Mizuno.

"It's true he doesn't have more than one wife. And there's not much info about him either. Somehow, Tomo-kun is now involved with them." — Yuna.

"If it were the Tomoki I knew before, I'd be worried—especially you, Haruka. But after talking to him… it's clear he has no interest in a polygamous relationship. And that's not out of fear—on the contrary, he respects women. Right, Haruka?" — Masaru.

"Yeah… how can I say this? He's still clumsy, but he's matured so much. He stands up for the people he cares about. He's become strong and reliable. Honestly, when he stood up for me that night… I was happy. It meant he acknowledged everything I did for him." — Haruka.

"About that… Haruka, is there another man you've been talking to? Tomoki said there was a man who loved you, someone he even admired." — Masaru.

"No, darling. I've never talked to another man besides you. That part worries me… Who could it be?"

"It's already rare to find a man like Masaru-san. But the one Tomoki described? That's on another level." — Sayori.

"It's really a mystery. Who is this guy? Well, maybe it's better not to dwell on it. Someday, Tomoki might tell us." — Serina.

"Not to mention, he said the man was already dead, right? That's what it sounded like." — Mizuno.

"Maybe it's your father, Haruka-san?" — Yuna.

"Then it's even weirder. First, he only met my father once when he was a baby. And second, he's still alive. I really have no idea who that man is." — Haruka.

"I hope my son tells us someday. Now, is there anything else we need to talk about?" — Masaru.

"No, besides… it's already lunchtime. I made something special today. Let's eat!" — Haruka.

"Yay! I love your cooking!" — Sayori.

"I brought some desserts too. Let me go get them." — Serina.

"Let me help clean the table." — Mizuno.

"Just like old times, huh, Masaru-nii?" — Yuna.

"Hahaha… you're right. Thank you, everyone. I'm really blessed with wonderful wives." — Masaru.

"That's our line!" — all the wives said in unison.

And so, the Morikawa family shared a wonderful lunch that day.
