David looked at the passing skies and thought about how his life would change significantly from this moment onwards.
He thought about his parents and decided to become even stronger so he could secure a place for them in the new world.
The biggest goal in his mind was to gather the genes and clusters of the mutated animals he could find.
Even though he was scared and afraid of the creature he saw in the water, another side of him was also hungry, hungry for the creature's powers.
There was no reason for a normal sea creature to come to the sea side and just look around for a while then leave. Besides, the eyes of the creature, it seemed different somehow although he couldn't fully explain it he was sure that the giant sea creature was a mutated one.
If he were to devour a behemoth of that size then his strength would multiply many times over.
He smiled as he thought 'Just you wait, one day I'll be back for you.'
They reached their destination pretty fast and when he alighted he was shocked to discover the so called base was actually in the area between the slums and the populated area of the state.
"This is quite a nice choice of place to live in right?" David asked with a hint of doubt in his voice.
"We are in charge of the state's capital and all affairs that occur in it and this is the most strategic location to ensure we can react as timely as possible" Eric replied.
David nodded understanding the meaning behind his choice.
He followed Eric as they entered the bungalow in front of them, at a glance it looked normal and ordinary, fitting the environment around it.
Eric walked up to the door then pulled a key from his pockets and inserted it, turning the knob David entered to see what looked like a guest room with couches and a table for reception.
They entered then Eric opened another door that led to a hallway then he opened a certain spot on the floor revealing a staircase leading downwards into the floor.
Eric descended while David followed behind him.
After a while, David could see a room with a row of computers lined up and a girl furiously typing away at the corner. Besides that, there was also a boy of about nineteen years old on a couch with a phone in his hands.
He was so engrossed in what he was doing that he didn't even notice anyone was coming, with the rate his hands were tapping away at the screen, he seemed to be playing games.
There were also two other men in the room doing push-ups and squats while another man was punching at a bag in the corner.
The last of them was Nat who David had seen before, he was reading the newspaper in his hands without raising his head about the sudden entry.
"Alright everyone gather, I have an important announcement to make."
Everyone in the room turned to face them when Nat said those words.
"Wow, we have a new recruit" the girl who was typing away before said while skipping towards them.
"Hey, what's your name? My name is Jessica but you can call me Jessy"
She had purple hair cascading down her shoulders and a cute face, her age seemed to be about eighteen or nineteen, she was half a head shorter than David though.
"Finally, there's someone new here! I was wondering when I would stop being the recruit here, I finally have a junior to bully---, I mean guide."
David's mouth twitched when he saw the guy playing games suddenly drop his phone and shout out with glee.
The other men in the room stopped their training then moved closer to Eric.
Eric pushed David and said "This here is our newest recruit David, introduce yourself"
"Hello, my name is David please take care of me" David said the characteristic greetings for a newbie in an organization but the man punching the bag before said.
"No one's taking care of you here kid, help yourself you're not a baby"
Eric just smiled and said "Don't mind him, that's how he is"
After a while David was introduced to the team, the purple haired girl was Jessica, the boy playing games was called James, the two men doing exercise earlier were William and Charles while the guy punching bags was called Robert.
There were two other girls in the team but they had gone out a bit earlier so the whole team numbered up to nine, the addition of David made it ten.
And with the look of things it seemed that Eric was the leader with Nat being the sub-leader.
"From now on the enemies you will be facing will be far stronger than the low level lion you fought before, take note."
"If you are the leader here then why would you be dealing with low level mutants like the lion then?" David asked.
"The lion may be a low level threat but you should consider the consequences of releasing it into the university for a long time, it's quite troublesome."
"Ohh" David muttered.
He was still wondering what to do when the girl suddenly dragged him along to the computer sets on the table.
"I've been looking for a few extra hands on my project and you came just in time, time to teach you the basics and brush you up."
Listening to Jessica's words the others just shook their heads and left while James seemed particularly scared of her and quickly ran back to the couch trying to minimize his presence as much as possible.
