Chapter 40 - Pages of the Past

Maya rushed over at Selene's whispered call, her footsteps echoing in the strange room. When she saw what Selene was staring at, her face went pale.

"Oh my God," Maya breathed, taking in the bloodstained clothes and the rippling black mirror. "What is this place?"

The room was as spacious as the others, but it felt empty and completely different from the others. The space was dominated by two main features: a large ornate mirror positioned against the far wall, its surface rippling like black water, and a huge bookshelf along the adjacent wall that stretched from floor to ceiling.

Selene knelt beside Lucian's shirt, her fingers trembling as she touched the dark stains. The fabric was stiff with dried blood. "This is his blood," she whispered, the reality of it hitting her like a punch to the chest. "Something terrible happened here."
