Zane's POV~
Somehow, I knew Alfie was going to ask about what's going on between Simon and me. The signs were all there....my expression, Simon's tension... everything pointed to an unspoken truth hanging thick in the air. But I didn't expect things to escalate this far. Especially not so fast.
The soul swap felt like a blessing earlier...saving me from collapsing under sheer terror but right now? Right now, it's a curse. A cruel, ironic curse.
Because what the actual heck is happening?
I mean, I wasn't even planning to tell Alfie the truth that Simon is a vampire. Why would I? I'm not ready to witness the death of all the Alphas… or the servants in this mansion. No one is.
But then Alfie asked and I had no choice but to lie. But i knew Alfie wouldn't fall for it. He knows me too well. He sees through me, even when I wish he wouldn't.
