Riyala could feel hundreds of eyes on her as she moved around the nests, and she could almost taste Fenrir's intensity from how much he was growling at the dragons around them! The mother dragons and wyverns were curled up in their nests with their tails wrapped around their children to keep them safe, and there were various male dragons and wyverns standing around and watching over the females. They were all looking at Riyala with distrust in their eyes, and Riyala knew that a single mistake here would mean the end of her life.
Another memory from when she was younger suddenly resurfaced in Riyala's thoughts. It was a memory of her mother before the day she was meant to go into the forest to select her wyvern. She had asked her mother if the dragons in the forest were going to have lots of treasure, just like the dragons she had read about in stories. But her mother had shaken her head at that question and answered with a smile.
