AVERY'S POV
"I guess that's our cue to leave," Kyle said, standing slowly and stretching the stiffness from his limbs.
Leah followed his lead. "Yeah, come on. Let's give the family some space."
I winced at the word family, but didn't correct her. Across the room, Adrian made no move to stand.
"We're leaving already?" he asked, reclining further into the edge of the window like this was his living room. "I was actually hoping to stick around, maybe see how the family drama unfolds—"
Before he could finish whatever nonsense he was planning to spew, Kyle, Leah, Greg, and I all turned to glare at him in perfect synchronisation.
Adrian raised both hands in surrender, his grin unfazed. "Alright, alright. I'm leaving. Geez."
"I'm still in the hospital," Leah grumbled as she grabbed her hoodie. "Don't do anything I wouldn't do."
