Chapter 43 - Sun Dragon vs Storm Dragon

As Veldora's wings spread wide, kicking up winds that tore through the jagged rocks around us, Ramiris, Veldanava, and the six Primordial angels wisely stepped off to the side. The sky above still raged with storm clouds, thunder cracking like a war drum.

Veldanava raised a hand, forming a protective barrier around their viewing area.

"Best not to stand between two true dragons," he said with an amused smile."This should be fun."

Ramiris folded her arms with a concerned pout."Hmph, show-off dragons," she mumbled, but her eyes were glued to the scene.

I stood at the center of the storm-blasted mountain, still in my human form. I didn't need my dragon form yet—not for this. Not for Veldora's first test.

My coat fluttered behind me, flames faintly licking at the edges of my boots as the sun's light bent toward me, despite the raging clouds. I didn't move. I just waited.

Veldora hovered in the air, crackling with excitement.

"You're not even transforming?" he called out, half-laughing."You're gonna regret that when I blast this whole place to rubble!"

I simply smirked, eyes narrowing."Try it, hatchling.""I'll show you how a Sun Dragon fights—with one hand tied behind his back."

And with that, the ground shattered beneath us as the storm roared—The clash of true dragons was about to begin.

"Light Mode!" I yelled, and in an instant, my body was engulfed in a blinding radiance—pure, golden light surged around me like a second skin. The storm darkened skies were ripped apart by the brilliance I unleashed, forcing even the Primordials to squint.

Time seemed to crawl to a halt for everyone else.

For me?

Everything slowed.

I moved faster than thought, faster than the flash of lightning overhead—because I was the light now. My form blurred into photons, slipping through the air with the speed of a sunbeam.

In my hand, I compressed a burning sphere of solar energy—a miniature sun, pulsing with devastating heat, focused like a Rasengan. It roared quietly, light humming as it turned the air around it to plasma.

"HAAAH!"

I appeared right in front of Veldora, mid-sentence, before he could even finish blinking.

His eyes widened in disbelief."Wha—?"

Too late.

BOOM!

I slammed the sun into his gut.

The blast was immediate—a shockwave rippled across the mountain, flattening trees miles away, sending debris and lightning scattering like confetti. Veldora's massive body was flung backward like a comet, smashing through several craggy mountain peaks and exploding through rock like a missile, the heat of my blow cauterizing the wounds as they were made.

Ramiris' jaw dropped. The Primordials… even they raised an eyebrow.Veldanava? He chuckled.

"Impressive… He didn't even flinch."

Dust clouded the sky where Veldora had vanished.

I stood in the crater, breathing evenly, light still crackling around me.

"That's one." I said, eyes locked on the horizon.

"Now get up, little brother—show me if you're worthy of that roar."

Veldora's roar echoed through the mountains like thunder amplified a hundredfold. His draconic eyes burned with fury, and he slammed his foot down, cracking the earth beneath him.

"You bastard!! I'll beat the crap outta you!!"He lunged at me, fists glowing with wild storm energy, the wind itself tearing apart the air as he charged.

But—

Too slow, lil bro.

I vanished a split-second before his blow could land. He smashed into nothing but afterimages.

"Over here."My voice came from behind him.

He whipped around, lightning snapping off his scales, but once again I was gone before he could touch me. He swung again—missed.

And again—missed.

Every time he tried, I dodged with almost lazy precision. Sometimes a half-step, sometimes just a tilt of my head. Too slow. Always too slow.

"Tch—STAY STILL!!" he snarled, storm aura flaring like a hurricane gone wild.

I reappeared mid-air above him, hands in my pockets, grinning."C'mon, Veldora. You're supposed to be the Storm Dragon, not the Whiff Dragon."

The Primordials chuckled quietly from the sidelines. Ramiris was holding in a laugh, even as her wings twitched in excitement. Veldanava watched calmly, a knowing smirk on his face.

Veldora gritted his teeth, eyes narrowing."Oh you're dead now!"

Good.

As Veldora inhaled deeply, his chest expanded with swirling storm clouds and searing heat gathering at his core.

"Take this—STORM FLAME BREATH!"He unleashed a torrent of purple and blue fire, infused with both lightning and wind, scorching everything in its path as it barreled toward me.

But I didn't move.

Didn't flinch.

Didn't blink.

I stood there, bathed in blinding fire, the entire mountain trembling under the weight of his attack.

And yet... I didn't burn.

The flames curled around me like harmless gusts of wind, dimming, flickering, and finally fizzling out—like candles before the sun.

I stepped forward through the dissipating smoke, completely untouched.

"Little brother..." I said with a smile, my voice calm and amused, "you've got quite the battle IQ."

Veldora blinked in confusion. I walked closer, light gently emanating from my form, warping the air around me like a sunrise bending the horizon.

"But using fire... against the Sun Dragon?"I tilted my head with a smirk."That's like throwing water at the ocean."

His jaw dropped. Ramiris was trying not to laugh behind her hands. Even Guy Crimson gave a rare low chuckle, while Veldanava shook his head with a grin.

Veldora's expression turned into a stubborn pout."Tch... okay, okay, that one's on me."

I raised a hand."Now my turn."

In an instant, I closed the distance again—light bending around me as I appeared right in front of Veldora, my sun-charged hand just inches from his chest.

His eyes widened for a second, then instinctively clamped shut, bracing for the impact.

But the hit never came.

The energy around my hand flickered and vanished.

Instead, I reached forward and lightly bonked him on the head, ruffling his spiky mane with a calm smirk as I laid my hand there like a teacher scolding a rowdy student.

"Veldora," I said, grinning, "our elder brother, the Six Primordial Angels… and maybe your future sister-in-law are all watching."

I tilted my head toward the sidelines where Ramiris crossed her arms and turned away with a tiny pout, cheeks puffed and slightly red, pretending she hadn't heard a thing.

"Gotta show off a bit."

Veldora blinked, the fire of battle draining slightly from his eyes, replaced by confusion... then realization… and then an indignant "HUH!?"

Everyone else burst into laughter—Veldanava let out a hearty laugh, Cornu chuckled darkly, and even Fledway cracked a rare smile. Ramiris, meanwhile, tried to look annoyed... but a faint smile tugged at her lips.

"You tricked me!" Veldora shouted."No, lil bro," I said, turning around casually, "I styled on you."

Veldora's rage exploded across the battlefield like a hurricane unleashed.

"YOU BASTARD!" he roared, eyes glowing bright purple as his wings flared open wide. Storm clouds gathered in a blink, thunder booming like the drums of war, and then—black lightning began to crackle and rain down violently all around us.

The ground shook. The sky was torn.

Even I blinked for a moment, genuinely impressed."Tch... that's not just lightning... that's primordial storm energy." I thought, my body already shifting, my light magic wrapping around me instinctively.

I jumped off Veldora's head at the last second, just before a bolt struck—BOOM!The area where I'd stood turned into a crater, molten and steaming.

From the sidelines, I could see the Primordial Angels watching with clear interest.

Feldway folded his arms, a slight grin tugging at his lips.Cornu nodded, eyes narrowed.Dino, of course, was yawning like always, but I saw it—he was watching closely too.

No demons around. Just us and the big boys.

"Alright, alright!" I called out mid-air, dodging another flash of deadly lightning."You're mad—I get it! But maybe try not to vaporize the mountain while proving your point?"

Veldora didn't respond. He just let out a guttural roar, sending wind shockwaves in every direction. I narrowed my eyes.

"Looks like I riled up the dragon for real this time."Time to turn up the heat—literally.

Veldora's power was off the charts, but mine… was absolute control.

"Alright, Veldora," I smirked, my voice echoing through the storm, "you want to see what your big brother can really do?"
