Chapter 15 - CHAPTER 15

Two individuals prostrated themselves in front of me, both equipped to the top with masks and oxygen tubes attached to the cylinders on their backs. The blood did not stop, it continued to come out without stopping. I was starting to feel weak... dizzy...— Who are you...— I muttered with the little strength I had left on my body. The rumbles that were occurring inside the warehouse made me uneasy. What had they brought here? One of the hooded men punched me in the face, causing me to gasp for a few seconds. "You're going to pay dearly, you bastard," said his partner, who pointed his rifle at me. I coughed several times, spurting blood each time I did so.

Miyabi... where are you?— People like you should go to hell... The boss was right, what a character he is.— He began to walk around the place, in a hurry, nervously.— We should leave before the beast eats us too.— Yes... Should. A hooded man came too close to me, leaving our bodies just inches apart. My mind came to a conclusion to get out of this. I wasn't in condition but it was better than just dying. Slowly I reached into my small trouser pocket without them noticing. The individual grabbed the rifle on his back and tried to take it from me. "I'll take this as a reward," he said. I swallowed saliva, or maybe blood. The metallic taste of this one disgusted me, but it gave me to understand what kind of situation I was in. I did it. I took out a knife that I kept in my pocket and with a scream at the top of my lungs, I stuck it in his ribs. A cry of pain came from the mouth of the hooded man. With a quick and agile key, I managed to get up and place myself in a strategic position, returning my human shield to the hooded man. I placed the knife flush with his neck. His companion pointed the gun, desperate to save his companion. His companion trembled. His finger was glued to the trigger, pressing it lightly. "LET GO, YOU SON OF A BITCH!" his companion shouted, but he no longer sounded as confident as he did a few moments ago. The tension of the moment was remarkable. We were all in a fragile moment. An unknown ethereal being was destroying the warehouse as it approached our position. They show so much, here I was, doing everything possible not to die.— Who are you?— I asked, taking advantage of the circumstances to extract the necessary information.— Give you— Said the individual who used human listening. I stuck the tip of the knife into his neck, sinking it a little into it. Who are you and what are you doing here?— Man, we'd better tell you... otherwise he'll kill you," said the other hooded man. "This fucking madman isn't going to kill anyone. Can't see he's from Division 6? Shit... he had recognized who he worked for.— They are not allowed to shoot humans... only ethereal beings. If he killed me, I would be breaking the law. I had to keep the situation under my control, I couldn't let it eat my head off." "Do you think I care about the law right now?" If you don't unpack this razor is going to end up going through your windpipe... you'll know what you're doing..." He tried to sound rude, making him think that he would kill him if necessary. "We're from the red fang gang," the other guy said, resignedly. Didn't that gang disappear long ago after the conversion of its leader into an ethereal being?— I asked.— Yes, it disappeared, but it lived after being reconverted and rebuilt from the inside.— said the captured hooded man. Right now nothing was fitting for me. That band fell apart, I didn't hear anything about them lurking in the darkness again. Of course, this makes it a matter for the police and not ours. Suddenly the struggle in which we found ourselves vanished after what seemed like a huge slap of the ethereal being. The three of us were thrown a few meters away from the area we were in. The fall made my breath stop. My vision was blurry, my head was spinning. In front of me, the ultimate ethereal being. It wasn't Snow, it was something much more enjoyable, but enough to freeze your blood. It was huge, of an unearthly size. His gaze was fixed on me. He was dead. With a rallying cry that caused my ears to deafen, he attacked. Being a huge ethereal being, its attacks were slow, but deadly. I crawled as fast as I could to a place where his attack would not hit me, but it was too late. His blow caused the floor to break completely when a huge sinkhole. It didn't hit me, but my balance overcame and I fell into the void. I screamed and screamed and screamed, but no one came to save me. I was falling, once again today, there was an unknown void where there were no more, but boxes that I didn't know if they would cushion my fall or just let me die from gravity impacting the ground. That's when she appeared.

A blue flash flashed past my eyes at the speed of light in the direction of the ethereal being impacting against it, causing it to catch fire in huge blue flames. But that was not enough to finish him off. PAM. Finally I hit the lower floor, on cardboard boxes. I didn't die, or so I thought, but my eyes can't take it anymore. The view dimmed as I watched the spectacle Miyabi was putting on against the ethereal being. I closed my eyes. I didn't hear anything. It was over.

All darkness. A monotonous beep was all he heard, until suddenly. "He's waking up!" shouted a female voice, hurried. I felt her voice as if she were at the bottom of the sea, blurred and choked. Slowly a light entered my pupils. I opened my eyes as wide as I could at the speed I could afford. My vision did not clear but the voices improved their sonority. A beep sounded just to my left. A pulse machine. I swallowed hard, feeling a twinge in my throat. It was a horrible feeling. Yes, definitely, he was alive.

Hardly, but alive. I blinked several times until at last, I managed to stabilize my vision. Next to me, a pink-haired woman with glasses, a white suit and an unwavering seriousness. "You finally wake up, Lucas," Yanagi said, visibly worried but relieved to see me alive. My whole body ached, every inch I tried to move my muscles more pain I seemed to feel on me. I couldn't move, it's as if my whole body was broken.— Miyabi...? I said with muffled words. He killed that ethereal being by burning him alive.— He mentioned.I breathed a sigh of relief knowing that Miyabi was fine, but...— The mission...— An absolute failure. Ethereal activity has escalated like never before, and the purge we have executed has been of no use. It has been a failed mission.— And what about the hooded men?— One of them was crushed to death by the ethereal being, the other is alive, he is in the interrogation room but he is not cooperating. The red fang has regrouped and no one knew anything... What a disaster. Suddenly a blue figure appeared, entering through the door of the room and running towards me. He came up to me and slapped me on the shoulder with all his might. Because of my deplorable condition, I groaned in pain. "You're a fool! I told you not to die and you almost did!" he shouted, grabbing my arm tightly. Get out of here." Yanagi asked motherly. "I'm not going to leave him alone again." What had he given Soukaku out of nowhere? "We have to talk about work, Soukaku." "I'm part of all this so I have a right to be here!"

Yanagi sighed, tired of Soukaku's behavior and the situation we were in. she's disappointed, Lucas." She said in a sad tone. What have I done?" I asked worriedly. It was my first mission with Division 6 and I had already disappointed the leader.

"She's not disappointed by what you've done, Lucas, rather by what you haven't done." Yanagi commented. Soukaku continued to grab my arm but this time he lowered his gaze in sorrow.

"You think you could have done more, that you could have tried harder," Yanagi continued. "I couldn't do anything more..." Murmuré.La situation I found myself in wasn't in my favor in any way. Two hooded men attacked me, one of them shooting me in the shoulder, leaving me almost helpless and badly wounded. He is practicing with his sword in the training room... she doesn't want to be disturbed." "You should go talk to her." Soukaku said in a low voice, almost inaudible. I looked up at the ceiling, taking a long breath as I processed in my mind everything I had just heard. From my point of view, I think that my performance, although not outstanding, should have exceeded expectations.

"About the person being questioned..." I'd like to ask you a few questions." I said. Harumasa takes care of that.— Let me talk to him, I'm sure I can get something out...— You can't even move.— He snapped.Soukaku grabbed me tighter, forcing me to look at her— Don't do stupid things that will cause you more damage, please.— Her look was one of torture and pain. It was incredible the trust we had managed to gain in such a short time, and we haven't had much contact...— I insist.— I said.

Yanagi stared at me, then led her to a notebook on her lap. He began to look at the notebook with entertainment. "You have 20 minutes," he said. "Then you have to go back to this room." She got up from the chair in which she was sitting and went to the door that led to the exit into the corridor. Soukaku stepped aside, offering his hand to help me up. It wasn't going to be of much use because Soukaku doesn't have great strength and I weigh a lot, but I wasn't going to turn down the opportunity to shake his hand... Why did I think that? I grabbed his hand gently. It was warm, like a summer sunset. As I turned my body to be able to sit on the table and stand up, I noticed how all the muscles contracted with each other, as if they did not know the word "Physical Effort". Or maybe they knew her too well. My shoulder gave me disturbing that made all my hair stand on end. At least, getting something good out of all this, my legs hadn't suffered any damage..."Are you sure you can handle the pain?" Soukaku asked, putting his other hand on my belly in case I fell on my face."Sure.— I affirmed confidently, hiding the real pain I was going through. I slowly rested both legs on the floor and stood up. I staggered a little as I took my first steps. It felt like my legs were jelly, but the pain in my shoulder was worse. A burning reminder that all had not gone well. Soukaku didn't let go. "Come on, slowly but firmly. You're more fucked up than a drunk in the snow," he murmured, trying to relieve the tension with his usual humor. We walked down the aisle in silence, passing members of the Division who looked at me with a mixture of respect, surprise... and pity. I hated that look. The same that is given to soldiers who survive, but barely. We arrived at the interrogation room. Opaque glass separated the main cubicle from the observation post. Inside, sitting at the table, was the hooded man who had survived. No mask. Short hair, scars, lost look.

Harumasa stood on the other side of the glass, standing with his arms folded. He looked at us harshly. "I don't authorize this," he said dryly, without moving. "Harumasa, I just want to ask you a few questions," I replied in the firmest voice I could muster. It will only be a minute. The officer looked at me angrily, but ended up pulling away without saying more. Soukaku was left out. I limped in, facing the guy who almost killed me. The hooded man recognized me immediately and smiled, a wry grimace. the hero who did not die. Felicidades.Me sat down in front of him. He didn't have the strength to play."Who is the new leader of the Red Fang?" The guy let out a bitter laugh. "And you think I'll tell you?" he asked, cocking his head. Your knife isn't here to help you this time. I looked him straight in the eye. My tone was low, just a whisper laden with menace: "I don't need a razor. I just need you to speak before she does," and I nodded toward the training room. For a moment, his smile faded. I knew who I was talking about.— Miyabi...— Exactly. You know what it does to uncooperative enemies? It does not kill them. He cuts them. Part by part. Silence settled between the two. The hooded man swallowed. "His name," he said finally. We don't know his real name. They call it "Elite shadow". It is said that he was an ex-soldier... That clarification left me stunned.— Do you know which faction he was part of?— I asked, resting the elbow of my good arm on the table.— We don't know anything.— He answered.— What is your main objective? The hooded man leaned back on the back of the chair and looked away. "I'm not going to be a toad," he replied renegade. Maybe I should ask Miyabi to intervene as soon as possible..." "NO!" he exclaimed, noticeably frightened. "Unpack it at once then!" It is ok... Our goal is to destroy Division 6, leaving it without any assets so that chaos reigns in the cavities. I looked up at the crystal where Harumasa and Soukaku were waiting. I couldn't see them, but they could see me, and I think our reaction has been similar.— That made you think you could do something like that...— There are very dangerous people in the band. People much more dangerous than us. Destroyers... annihilators... You are all dead, listen to me. Sooner or later the big fish will pull the necessary strings to annihilate you without leaving any evidence of it. My stomach churned at that statement. Thank you for cooperating... I got up from my chair, barely balancing and left the room. Well done.— Harumasa said.— They love us... Kill...— This is not good, not good at all. They come straight for us. But... Who?
