Chapter 210: You Call Me Father??
"I heard you were pleading for my whispers."
"You..." Delphi stared blankly at the black-robed man before her. Karsus, the Dark Lord who had stood out in her most desperate moments, striking down the Ministry of Magic! Although she couldn't see the eyes beneath the black robe, Delphi felt as though she saw a pair of eyes gazing at her.
She had seen his appearance countless times in her dreams. A stormy night, the Black Lake overflowing, a Dark Lord's throne... Fragmented and complex scenes appeared repeatedly in her mind. But the one revered by all living beings... was always this man!
Delphi initially didn't know why she dreamt of him. It was only from Knockturn Alley that she learned about Karsus being wanted. —She saw this man, hidden beneath black robes and death, once again.
Delphi had an extremely strong premonition. Follow him, follow this man! She would cleanse herself of all impurities, standing openly before everyone, in a posture the entire world dared not look directly at! With Karsus! Receiving universal adoration! All living beings would submit!
At that time, no one would ever dare to mock her lineage or sneer at her origins! Those Blacks who had cruelly refused her help when she was on the verge of starvation—what a load of pure-blood family nonsense! And no one would ever dare to insult her again, calling her nothing but a disaster who shouldn't have been born!
A few months ago, she learned from Mr. Borgin that the Death Pilgrim—Karsus—had actually declared that she was his acknowledged, most trusted follower! Delphi was utterly shocked when she heard this news!
In her eyes, Karsus was a god who would eventually overturn the world! He was on a completely different level from her so-called father, Voldemort!
The title "Dark Lord" simply didn't apply to Voldemort! He was just an incompetent fool who couldn't even manage his own daughter, and who was even killed by a baby!
Too many people were propagating the fear of Voldemort. But his name wasn't Voldemort at all! His name was Tom Marvolo Riddle! The true Dark Lord! Should be Karsus!
Although Karsus had not appeared frequently before the world, he seemed to have materialized out of thin air. The Ministry of Magic was powerless against his use of Dark Arts!
This further solidified the visions Delphi had seen in her dreams. Karsus would eventually become a god! And all she had to do was follow him! Follow a deity greater, more extraordinary, and more illustrious than the fool her mother had once followed!
Snap back to reality, Delphi was still so shocked that she almost forgot to breathe, holding her breath, witnessing the black-robed deity before her. "It's really you..." Delphi's voice was almost shattered into dust.
Dylan raised his hand and waved gently. The wand that had fallen to the ground instantly floated up, landing directly back in Delphi's hand.
"Are you surprised by my arrival?" Dylan approached the woman, his steps carrying an elegant sense of oppression. A cold wand tip pressed against the woman's chin, then lifted it. The force was light, gentle as a lover's caress, yet it sent a current of shivers down Delphi's spine. —She felt her legs turning to jelly.
"Rummaging through trash in this dilapidated house—are you perhaps searching for Voldemort's arrogance?" He continued, "It's time to wake up, my little Death Eater. Look at the one you should truly pledge allegiance to."
Delphi's breath hitched. Her mind exploded with a resounding boom. "Father..." Unconsciously, a word escaped her lips. Delphi herself was stunned.
Dylan's eyes, hidden beneath the black robe, flickered. What was this?
Dylan narrowed his eyes. "Don't use that loser's title. From today onwards, you only need to know—" Dylan's fingertip traced Delphi's lips, magic surging. He deepened the effect of the Dark Mark. "I am your King."
Although it was unclear whether Delphi was truly Voldemort's daughter. He vaguely remembered that Delphi was supposedly born before the final great battle ended. Yet now she looked almost twenty years old, already a grown woman. This seemed completely illogical.
Delphi gripped her wand, the Dark Mark pulsating beneath her skin, seemingly connected to her heart. Feeling the touch on her face, Delphi suddenly began to laugh, a strange light reflecting in her eyes.
She looked somewhat deranged. —Quite like Bellatrix. It seemed one thing could be confirmed: at least Delphi was Bellatrix's daughter. As for who her father was... that remained questionable.
"Yes, my Lord." Delphi knelt on one knee, her silver-blue hair falling, obscuring her expression, but unable to hide the boiling ecstasy in her voice. "I will dedicate my all to you. I swear it on my life."
Dylan stepped back, maintaining a certain distance between them. Otherwise, this girl kneeling on the ground would have her head right at his crotch. —This posture would be a bit too strange. Dylan snorted softly. "An oath? Merely gold plating that mortals put on their chains—they are even cheaper than life itself." Dylan looked at Delphi calmly. "Rise."
Delphi hastily pushed herself up. "No, I will follow you steadfastly!"
Dylan lowered his gaze, observing her shoulders, which trembled slightly, seemingly from not being believed by the one she worshipped. When he had controlled Delphi with the Imperius Curse earlier, he had already learned most of her life's memories.
How to put it... it was quite tragic. It perfectly illustrated the hardships an antagonist might suffer in childhood. No wonder her mind was so twisted. That "Father" just now had completely bewildered him. He was only thirteen!
Thinking for a moment, Dylan changed the subject. "The blood diamond, found it?"
Delphi trembled at his words. "You... how do you know about the blood diamond?"
Dylan sneered. "Mortals always love to hide secrets in the shadows, but shadows are also my domain." Delphi pursed her lips, looking ashamed. "Forgive me, Master, I couldn't find it."
"Fool!" Dylan casually cursed, maintaining his persona. —But honestly, this feeling of casually cursing someone and being flattered for it is actually quite nice! No wonder Voldemort always wanted to conquer everyone.
No wonder Professor Snape could be an undercover agent behind Voldemort for so many years without being detected at all. Nothing else. It was all thanks to sweet talk!
Dylan stood straight as a blade, raising his hand. Tiny golden lights floated. His wand drew a spell symbol in mid-air. A burst of mental power erupted, sweeping through the entire house.
Peeling wallpaper, cracked wooden beams, and dusty corners. Every place, whether Delphi had searched it or not, was completely surveyed by Dylan from a mental perspective.
Not long after, a loose brick in the corner emitted a faint golden light. Dylan glanced at Delphi. "Go, take it out."
Delphi paused, then quickly walked over, squatted down, and moved the brick aside. Beneath the brick lay a copper box covered in green rust.
The lid's engraving featured some vine patterns. Delphi touched the copper box, her face lighting up with joy. Carrying the box, Delphi returned to Dylan's side. "Master..."
"Open it." Delphi's hand, which had been about to offer the box to Dylan, paused, then retracted. She then gently lifted the lid. Instantly, wisps of black light seeped from the box's seams. The bottom of the copper box was lined with some velvet. Dylan immediately recognized it as Unicorn velvet!
Above the velvet, a rhomboid blood diamond, deep red to almost black, lay in the center. —It was set in a twisted, thorny silver setting, with eight facets cut extremely irregularly, like fragments violently gouged out by sharp claws, possessing a beauty of violence and brokenness.
The dark red symbols on its surface seemed to flow like living things. Upon closer inspection, these symbols resembled the veins of a heart, or perhaps a twisted Unicorn. When approached, a faint shriek could be heard, as if one were hearing the wails of a trapped Unicorn.
Within the diamond, congealed black blood drops floated. Dylan snapped his fingers, and light appeared. Under the light, the outline of a shattered Unicorn emerged, then quickly faded.
"This is the Evernight Lament." Delphi stared at the blood diamond clutched between Dylan's fingers, her eyes gleaming. —This diamond felt like it was born specifically for her! This insane design, these twisted patterns. They spoke directly to her heart!
"A cursed object made from a Unicorn's heart, does it deserve to be called 'Evernight'?" Dylan scoffed. If he had to say, the Unicorn's curse was indeed continuous, so in a way, it could be called that.
However, Dylan carefully observed this "Evernight Lament." He felt an extremely strong curse power emanating from this diamond. His index finger gently tapped the diamond's facet.
Instantly, the dark red runes on its surface suddenly began to churn like boiling hot oil. The twisted thorny flowers on the silver setting also abruptly burst forth with sharp thorns. The Unicorn runes, like venomous snakes, crawled up his wrist.
Dylan sneered, then backhanded Delphi's nape. The latter was startled, letting out a gasp. The runes, however, moved from Dylan's palm to her throat. Dylan directly applied this curse power to Delphi.
"Ah!" The girl instantly fell to her knees, a silent scream welling in her throat, and spiderweb-like bluish-black patterns appeared beneath her skin. Clearly, the curse had taken effect.
The blood diamond, made from a Unicorn's heart, was rumored to be able to influence and twist a Unicorn's mind. But to use it, one would inevitably be affected by the blood diamond first.
In an instant, a strong sense of palpitations caused by the curse surged through Delphi. She felt as if a mountain was pressing down on her head, warning her not to do what she shouldn't! But why? What was right? What was wrong? If she wanted it, then it was right!
Delphi gritted her teeth. Since she had decided on her faith, she was already prepared to sacrifice herself for it at any time! It was merely enduring the pain of a curse for her Master. She could bear it, and she must bear it! She must become useful, so she wouldn't be discarded!
"Curses always seek a host, but by understanding a curse, one can guide it." Dylan flicked the remaining runes from his palm, looking at Delphi's pained little face, and pointed his wand. "Analgesia Charm."
Magic surged, and as it swept past her brow, it scattered a shower of silvery-grey light. The pain brought by the Unicorn curse instantly receded from her pupils, leaving only a dull numbness. Dylan saw that her expression was quite alright, so he ignored her, instead lowering his gaze to study the blood diamond in his hand.
"Unicorn blood, and specifically heart essence." Dylan gently sniffed it. A sweet aroma wafted up. But it was mixed with an unpleasant stench. —The smell was like a Dark wizard who stayed in a laboratory every day and never bathed for ten years. Dylan frowned. Truly disgusting.
"Something made by Dark wizards centuries ago? Heh, those fools thought they could refine perfect creations using the blood of sacred creatures, and they even injected their obsessions into it. Don't they know that the backlash from pure creatures will turn their obsessions into sludge?"
The thorny silver setting beneath the diamond had ancient Dark wizard family blasphemous runes carved into each spike. The silver part, having been immersed in curse power for a long time, was entirely permeated with a sickly bluish-grey hue.
"However, such a creation has survived to this day with such powerful magic, able to use human souls as fuel. It's a pity that the Unicorn blood burned their obsessions into defective products." Dylan sensed the power of the blood diamond.
The curse power within it was already somewhat chaotic. However, to use this diamond to influence Unicorns, this chaotic magic might actually have a surprising effect. Of course, when this diamond was originally designed, it might have been intended to directly control Unicorns.
But there had been no rumors of such a thing for hundreds of years, so at that time, the diamond probably wasn't very effective. Let alone now. It could only be used to corrupt, not for targeted interference and control.
"—This thing is just a biting piece of scrap metal now, but it does contain some twisted runes, which is rather interesting." Dylan's Erebus Nexus itself possessed extremely terrifying distorting power. Even Dementors were affected by seeing it. So Dylan naturally understood this kind of power perfectly.
"Perhaps if I research it, this blood diamond can be further refined." Dylan thought to himself. His current alchemy level was not low. After all, he had even figured out the principle of the Time-Turner. Understanding it was one thing; being able to create it was another. Otherwise, Dylan's level might even catch up to old Dumbledore!
Dylan was about to stop manipulating the blood diamond's power, place it back on its silver setting, and return it to the copper box. However, as he looked at the thorny silver setting, his gaze suddenly froze.
This thorny silver setting seemed to have not just one slot for the blood diamond in his hand. Besides that, there seemed to be two others!
"Strange."
