"Heh, I'm not afraid of trouble, only that trouble finds me," Kai said warmly, heading towards the venue. Tsunade and Jiraiya exchanged glances, their expressions grave, and quickly followed.
"Lady Tsunade, what's the plan?" Tozai asked urgently.
Tsunade stopped, turning back with a cold gaze. "Tozai, stay out of this. I don't want any more Senju casualties. Return to the clan compound."
She quickly caught up with Jiraiya. With Kai's arrival, a storm was brewing over Konoha. A single misstep could lead to disaster.
In the dark depths of the Root headquarters, a flickering candlelight illuminated a shadowy figure. The rhythmic tap-tap-tap of a cane echoed down the long corridor.
"Danzo-sama, Uchiha Kai has returned. The Hokage election summit will begin immediately," a shadowy figure appeared before Danzo. Behind him, Orochimaru, his face pale, his crimson tongue flicking out, said, "Everything is prepared. It will be a spectacle."
Meanwhile, in the Uchiha compound, three gaunt elders, clad in Uchiha robes, their Sharingan eyes glowing menacingly, emerged from Fugaku's mansion.
"Elders, he's back. The summit will begin," Uchiha Ishi reported. The security force, though often suppressed, had many informants.
"We know," Uchiha Elder said coldly. "We've waited a long time. The Hokage position is ours."
Uchiha Ishi hesitated. "Elder, will the plan work? What if he refuses?" The Blood Asura's ruthlessness was legendary, even within Konoha. He doubted Kai would comply.
"Don't worry. We have leverage. He's arrogant, but not heartless. He'll become Hokage," Uchiha Hu said, a sinister smile playing on his lips.
Kai's arrival sent ripples through Konoha, from the upper echelons to the common folk, all converging on the venue.
Tsunade glared at Tozai, who stood awkwardly nearby. "Tozai, didn't I tell you to return to the clan? Why are you here?"
Tozai, the most talented Senju of his generation, chuckled wryly. "Lady Tsunade, this is the Hokage election summit. I'm a Senju representative. And I want to see who becomes Hokage."
"What's that supposed to mean?" Tsunade glared. "Are you saying you're better than me?"
"Lady Tsunade!" Tozai looked to Jiraiya for help. Even the Senju clan found Tsunade, the most talented of the two Hokage's descendants, difficult to handle. Before the deaths of Dan and Nawaki, she was reasonable, but now she was different.
"Tsunade, Tozai is twenty. Everyone else has kids. Stop lecturing him. He's almost a jōnin," Jiraiya interjected. "Footsteps are approaching. Kai's been silent since arriving. Go check on him."
Even though ranks were inflated during wartime, Senju possessed superior physiques and strength. Jiraiya's words carried weight. Tsunade glared at Tozai before going to Kai.
"Thank you, Jiraiya-sama," Tozai said wryly, looking at Kai. "Jiraiya-sama, have you made a decision? I believe Kai isn't evil."
"Really?" Jiraiya glanced back. "You've met him and seen that the Blood Asura is different from what people say. We've made a decision, but things are unpredictable. We can only minimize conflict."
Tozai fell silent, clenching his fists.
Kai paid no attention to the outside world. Invincibility was lonely. He wasn't invincible yet, but he liked adding spice to his monotonous life. If there was going to be chaos, he wanted it to be a tempest.
"Ding! Detected host has learned Hell Stab: Finger Nukite. Activate instant max-level?"
The system's voice echoed in Kai's mind. He'd been too busy to examine the jutsu scrolls he'd collected. He hadn't expected anyone to carry valuable jutsu scrolls, let alone forbidden techniques, onto the battlefield. But Kage-level shinobi weren't predictable. They didn't believe in defeat or death. Kai had luckily obtained four forbidden jutsu scrolls from the Third Raikage. The first was Hell Stab: Finger Nukite, the strongest spear.
"Activate instant max-level."
"Please wait!"
"Congratulations, host! Hell Stab: Finger Nukite max-level achieved. Acquired Lightning Release Secret Technique: Hell Stab: One-Finger Nukite!"
Kai smiled, reaching for another scroll when Tsunade sat beside him. At almost thirty, she still looked like she was in her early twenties, her skin flawless, her scent delicate.
