Gabriel took another step forward and stopped in front of the first corpse, his gaze steady as he looked down at the unconscious body. He crouched and placed one hand on the cold armor.
It was not really needed, but it was a habit he had grown used to by now, which sometimes made Anna, who was watching him quietly from the back, wonder if her master had a strange interest in touching the dead.
Gabriel's fingers pressed lightly as if confirming it was real, and Anna stood behind him in silence, hands folded together, eyes fixed on his back, waiting for his next command.
