"Teacher," Drake called from his seat, his wings twitching restlessly. "Why is Kelpie's house so far away? What if we reach late? What if the fishes eat all the snacks before us?"
Before Alina could answer, Boo gasped dramatically from above. He had somehow freed himself from the seatbelt and was spinning like a startled jellyfish. "What if we reach so late that the fishes fall asleep and snore bubbles? I can't handle that sound, teacher!"
Felix looked unimpressed. "Fishes don't snore, Boo," he said calmly, licking peach sugar off his finger. "They open and close their mouths because they're breathing."
Boo turned, utterly scandalized. "Breathing? I thought they were singing silently!"
The entire bus went quiet for half a second, then Drake burst out laughing so hard that he fell sideways in his seat again. "Singing silently! Hahahaha!"
