Chapter 54 - Chapter 55.

Sure enough, it was starting to get messy. But it wasn't the first time he'd faced such a situation.Ellis rubbed his brow helplessly and changed his approach, "Hungry?"

The demon on the bed didn't respond.

"There's that dessert you liked earlier in the kitchen."

The covers stirred slightly, but quickly regained their composure.

The corners of Ellis' mouth curved imperceptibly, his tone still flat, "I'll put it away if you don't want it."

As soon as the words left his mouth, Nyx violently lifted the covers and glared at him with an irritated expression, "No putting it away!"

Ellis: "..."

And what a demon to succumb to his personal desires. He didn't break it down though, he just stood up and headed towards the kitchen, "Wait."

Nyx cuddles up under the covers, bristles, and whispers, "Hmph, I'll count on you to know what you're doing."

By the time Ellis brought dessert from the kitchen, Nyx had already resumed his trademark lazy look, half leaning back on the bed, but with a few glaring hints of discontent still in his eyes.

He glanced at the dessert on the tray - it was that rich and slightly bitter tasting dark chocolate mousse he liked, with a glass of warm milk sitting next to it.He grunted and looked away, pretending not to care as he spoke, "Think you can bribe me with food?"

Ellis placed the tray on the nightstand, his tone flat, "It's good to be bought."

Nyx choked and immediately exploded, "You-"

Ignoring him, Ellis picked up a spoon and scooped up a small bite of mousse, handing it to Nyx.Nyx had wanted to mouth off a few more times, but the dessert in front of him was too tantalizing, and he hesitated for a moment before he finally opened his mouth and ate it without a fight.

The rich chocolate flavor melted in his mouth, and the familiar bitter-sweet mix made him feel slightly better. He grunted with a stiff upper lip, "I'm counting on you to know what you're doing."

Ellis didn't say anything, watching him quietly as he took bite after bite, his mood visibly easing.

After a while, Nyx finally couldn't help but break the silence, his tone still tinged with a bit of haughty defiance, "Do you really think that's going to keep me from getting angry?"

Ellis looked at him lightly, "You're already not angry."

Nyx: "..."

This dead ice cube!Still so hateful!

Nyx was so angry that he wanted to drop his spoon, but he couldn't let go of the dessert in his hand, so in the end, he could only give Ellis a hard look, and then lowered his head to continue eating.Although his mouth was unconvinced, his heart had softened a bit.

After eating, he lazily leaned back on the pillows, propped his face with one hand, and looked at Ellis with some playful eyes, "You ah ... are really quite strange."

Ellis raised his eyebrows, "Where is it strange?"

"Obviously being so mean to me, locking me up again, and almost crippling me."Nyx shook his spoon and said slowly, "But then you'd remember what I like to eat and make it specially for me."

Ellis was silent for a moment before speaking calmly, "Discipline and care are not contradictory things."

Nyx stared at him, a hint of inquiry in his red eyes, "Do you do that to others?"

"No."

The answer came so quickly, so quickly that Nyx froze. He looked at Ellis with some surprise, then suddenly smiled, "So, I'm special?"

Ellis didn't answer.

Nyx stared into his eyes, eyes that looked like they were trying to see through some secret deep inside him.He waited for Ellis to evade, for him to deny it coldly, but this time, Ellis just met his gaze in silence, his eyes not dodging, nor did he deliberately try to explain anything.

This silent acquiescence carried more weight than any words.

Nyx was stunned for a split second, then he slowly smiled, the curves of his mouth carrying a bit of the devil's unique cunning and smugness. He turned around and lazily retreated back under the covers, his tone pleasant and a little bit sappy with a hint of giving an inch, "Well, I'll begrudgingly forgive you a little bit, seeing as you have an okay attitude."

Ellis' voice trailed off as she looked down to gather her empty plates, "Who cares."

Nyx gave an inch and rubbed against the covers, laughing in a vague tone, "You rare."

Ellis didn't retort.

Nyx may have said, "Barely forgiven a little," but judging by how quickly he'd resumed trick-or-treating, I was afraid that forgiveness had been more than enough.
