Charles leaned back slightly on the bed, a mischievous smile still on his face after Kaira's flustered reaction.
The way she'd blushed and covered her face over the sweat mark on the sheet had him amused, but he also felt a strange warmth in his chest.
"Well, Kaira," he said, crossing his arms with a playful tone, "how are you gonna help me, then? Did you come to save me from the trial with your 'divine backup' or what?"
Kaira, still standing after her embarrassed leap, squinted at Rian, as if trying to figure out if he was teasing again.
Then, with a nervous throat-clear, she pointed to the pillow she'd left on the bed.
"I came to give you this!" she said, her forced enthusiasm failing to hide her shyness. "You know… so you can sleep well before the trial."
Charles blinked, processing her words.
She came to give him a pillow?
Truth was, neither this room nor his previous one had a pillow for him to use.
He burst out laughing, leaning forward.
