Charles stared at Kaira after her offhand comment about Syris's weak flames.

If Kaira, with all her confidence, considered Syris an easy opponent, then…

What did that mean for him?

Charles, who'd fought Syris in the arena giving it his all, had felt the scorching heat of those flames, and while he'd survived, it wasn't exactly a walk in the park.

'If Syris is weak…' he thought, a knot forming in his stomach, 'then how weak am I?'

The idea made him frown, and for a moment, he wondered if all his efforts so far were just luck or if he really had something special, like Kaira seemed to believe.

Kaira, oblivious to Charles's inner crisis, leaned toward him with a bright smile. Her red eyes sparkled with enthusiasm, her expression so childlike she might as well have been asking for candy.

"Hey, Rian!" she said, bouncing slightly on the bed, making the mattress Creak. "Show me your powers now, please! I can't take it anymore…"
