Chapter 2 - Chapter 2 – The World of Sheep

The foster home was small. Clean. Quiet. It had white walls, warm lights, and soft couches. They gave me a room. They gave me clothes. They gave me a bed.

I hated all of it.

None of it felt real.

The humans here smiled too much. They spoke too kindly. As if kindness could erase pain. As if pretending was the same as peace.

But I knew better.

Even in a world like this, darkness always hides somewhere. All I had to do… was find it.

The next day, I stood in front of the school gates.

A human school. Loud. Crowded. Full of voices, laughter, and fake friendships.

It felt like a zoo.

I walked in wearing the uniform they gave me — black pants, white shirt, red tie. I kept my head low, but my aura still turned heads. I could hear whispers already.

"Who's the new kid?"

"He looks creepy."

"Cool hair though."

"His eyes are red… are those contacts?"

I ignored them. Humans loved to talk.

A teacher led me to the front of the classroom.

Everyone stared. Eyes full of curiosity, not fear. Not yet.

"This is Kelvin," the teacher said. "He's new. Please treat him well."

I stood there in silence. I didn't need to say anything. I didn't want to.

"Um… Kelvin, would you like to introduce yourself?"

I looked at the class.

"No."

Gasps. Awkward laughs. The teacher blinked.

"I—Okay, uh… you may take the empty seat near the window."

I walked without a word and sat down.

The girl sitting beside me glanced at me for a second… but said nothing.

Classes were boring. They talked about things I already knew. History, math, science — child's play. I could learn this in minutes. I didn't come here to study.

I came here to regain my strength… and find a way home.

At lunch, I didn't eat. Human food tasted like air. I sat alone on the rooftop, watching the city. My mind was busy.

I needed negative emotions. Sadness, anger, fear — anything. But these people hid their pain behind jokes and fake smiles.

I would have to dig deeper. Observe. Push.

A loud noise interrupted my thoughts — a crash below. A crowd had gathered.

I narrowed my eyes and leapt down the stairs two steps at a time. As I reached the hallway, I saw it:

A fight. Two boys. One was tall and strong. The other, smaller and shaking. A typical bully scene.

Humans and their stupid games.

I moved closer. The tall one pushed the smaller boy against the lockers. He was yelling. The small one looked terrified. Tears were forming in his eyes.

And then I felt it.

Fear.

The air thickened around me. My skin tingled. My blood warmed.

It was weak, but real.

I stepped forward.

"Enough."

The tall boy turned. "Huh? Who the hell are you?"

I didn't answer. I just stared into his eyes.

For a second, he froze.

Something in him — his instincts — screamed.

"Step away," I said quietly. "Before I make you regret it."

"Or what?" he barked.

He swung at me.

Mistake.

I caught his fist mid-air. My grip tightened. Bones cracked slightly.

He screamed.

Everyone around us gasped. Phones came out. Cameras rolled.

"You're lucky," I said, my voice calm, "that my powers are sealed."

I pushed him back. He fell to the floor, holding his hand and groaning.

Silence.

No one spoke. The smaller boy looked at me with wide, grateful eyes.

I turned away. I didn't do it for him.

I did it to feel.

That short moment — that flash of fear, pain, weakness — gave me just enough energy to spark something inside.

Later that day, back in my room, I sat on the floor and focused.

My palm glowed faintly. A small line of black smoke curled around my fingers. Not much — but it was a start.

I needed more. I needed stronger emotions. Deeper ones.

This world may be calm on the surface… but darkness is always waiting underneath.

And I'll be the one to pull it out.

I am Kelvin — Vampire Prince.

And I'm just getting started.

My shadow… twitched for the first time.

Good.

Good. I preferred it that way.
