Chapter 77 - CHAPTER SEVENTY-SIX

Tashia sat quietly while looking at her phone; she was now watching over Ashley.

She gently stroked the child's cheek. Her sister Vivianne and Sharlene were not around, as they had just stepped out for a moment.

She noticed a warm hand holding hers; she frowned, thinking it might be her imagination, but she just let herself feel the warmth of the hand holding hers.

After a while, it still hadn't disappeared, so she looked at the one holding her hand. She couldn't believe what she had witnessed; she saw Ashley's body moving.

She was staring at the hospital ceiling, gasping; it seemed she didn't know what to do.

"A—Ashley." Tashia called out to the child.

Ashley weakly turned to her; she responded that she wanted to break down now, she wanted to cry, but Ashley needed to be checked by a nurse or doctor first.

"J— Just a moment, I'll call the nurse. I'll be right back." She swiftly rose from her seat and made her way to the nurse's station. Tashia immediately informed her that her niece was awake.

The nurse was surprised by what she said, so the nurse that was assigned immediately followed her. While checking Ashley's vital signs, her hand trembled as she took her phone. She needed to inform her sister Vivianne and sister Sharlene about it.

She immediately answered his call.

"Tashia, do you need me to buy something?" Sharlene asked her.

"No, sister. Please return to the hospital right away." Her voice trembled.

"W---Why?" Did something happen to Ashley?" Sharlene's voice was alarmed.

"I— It's not, but it's a miracle; Ashley is awake." She said, holding back her tears.

"I—is Ashley awake?" She asked, her voice clearly showing disbelief in what she said.

"Y—Yes, Aunt Sharlene, she's back." Her tears were flowing, no matter how hard she tried to hold them back.

"W—We'll go there right away." Sharlene said.

She only just nodded.

"We checked the child," the doctor sighed, and she, feeling nervous, suddenly smiled. "The child's body just needs to recover because of her long sleep; now, her body still lacks strength," the doctor explained to her.

"H—How's her blood clot?" Tashia asked worriedly.

The doctor tapped her shoulder. "The blood that had clotted in her brain has completely dissolved; her life is not in danger anymore, and it's a miracle also." The doctor added.

It seemed like a thorn had been removed from Tashia, so she just nodded.

"In a day or three or maybe a week, she will be back to her usual self, and she can also be discharged after it is confirmed that there are no more complications with the baby."

She could only nod in response, for if she spoke, her emotions, which were desperately trying to escape her body, might take over.

"It's a miracle. Please tell the child's mother that her child survived; that girl is really strong." The doctor is impressed with Ashley.

"Y—Yes, thank you, doc." Tashia could only say,.

The doctor just nodded, patted her, and the nurses and doctors also left. Ashley was lying down then.

"S——Sis." Ashley called out to her.

Tashia quickly approached because the child's body was not yet strong enough to climb the fence without assistance.

"W—Why? Are you looking for your mom? She'll be here soon." She said while stroking the child's cheek.

She heard hurried footsteps rushing to get into her room immediately.

"Ashley," Sharlene called out to the child.

Tashia saw Vivianne's shock; she covered her mouth.

Sharlene immediately hugged the child who had just woken up. Then, she stood up to get the groceries. She signaled Vivianne, who was still smiling.

She even heard his sister Sharlene's soft sobs of joy. She had no words, just holding her child, who had been unconscious for a long time and whose life was still in danger.

It was a big mystery to him why Ashley had returned, but she didn't want to answer that question just yet; she wanted a happy moment first, where their hearts weren't consumed by questions and sadness.

This continued until the child fell asleep again. "The doctor also said that Ashley's life is safe now, and she can be discharged after her follow-up checkup to avoid any complications. It also needs to monitor because Ashley just woke up, and they need to be sure about it." Tashia explained it to Sharlene.

Sharlene just nodded at what she's saying.

Sharlene was just watching her sleeping child; she almost didn't want to take her eyes off Ashley.

"I'm afraid she might go into a coma again." Sharlene said softly.

"Sis, don't think too much like that."

"Leah and Sharlene set her free, and someone else accepted the curse so Ashley could get out." Vivianne explained back then.

She furrowed her brow. "Did someone else accept the curse?" Tashia asked.

"I saw that it could accept and reverse that curse." Vivianne also said while stroking the child's forehead.

"Manuel Santiago accepted the curse and turned back to let Ashley escape safely; he said she would be imprisoned in darkness for eternity, along with Leah." Vivianne added.

She didn't say anything more after that. The young Ashley woke up.

"Mom, we need to save Aunt Leah; if she can't get out of the anger she caused, it will swallow her, and she will disappear along with her spirit, and no one will remember her if that happens." The child added.

Tashia was surprised by what Ashley just said. "It will disappear, and she erased also her?" she asked.

Ashley nodded weakly. "She will never see the light again and see her baby waiting for her."

They exchanged glances, Vivianne and Sharlene. "Can we just not get involved anymore, Sharlene?" Tashia simply asked.

"Please? Aunt Leah and Grandpa Manuel did everything to get me out. Can we also help them?" She saw in Ashley's eyes that she really wanted to help.

Sharlene didn't immediately respond to the request of the child in front of them; she heard her just sighing.

"Vivianne, Tashia, we can no longer escape what we've started; we can't just ignore it because Ashley is safe now. We know what we've been through." She even said.

"If that's what you want, Sharlene, we'll continue until the end." Vivianne could only say.

She just sighed; there was nothing she could do because the elder had made the decision. They could no longer remain silent like that.

The door to the room suddenly opened, and Martin's face immediately appeared; he must have heard the good news.

"Ashley." It couldn't help but say.

"Dad," Ashley called out with a smile.

Martin quickly embraced Ashley without saying a word. They just let Martin be because he had the right, being Ashley's father, and he was secretly helping with Ashley's bills while Ashley was bedridden in the hospital.

She saw Leah, dressed in white; she barely smiled at them, and then she disappeared suddenly. Vivianne just tapped her, clearly having seen Leah.

"I can't let Leah down right now, Tashia." She could only say that to her.

Tashia understood that, so she just nodded.
