Chapter 82 - EPILOGUE

When Sharlene finally came to after losing consciousness for several days, worried faces greeted her, and Ashley gave her a tight hug. Lawrence just sighed and smiled.

She heard that Sheila surrendered to the police. Rumor has it that Sheila is part of the syndicate Raymundo joined as retaliation for what her sister Angely did. She also heard someone traveling through the endless darkness asking for help, but Vivianne just ignored it.

The heir to her clan received all of the property that Raymundo Santiago had stolen.

"Sister, Justine wants to talk." Tashia called her.

"Is he here now?" Sharlene asked while fixing Ashley's hair.

She just nodded. "In the living room, I'll take care of Ashley for now. I missed this kid," she said. She just sighed. Let out a sigh. Now, she will decide on her own. She sighed deeply. Sharlene immediately went to Justine, where he was waiting for her.

He was just sitting quietly, fiddling with his phone.

"They said you wanted to talk to me." She immediately said, Toward its direction.

It stopped what it was doing and looked at her. "Oh, you are here now, Ellena." Justine could only say to her,.

She sat down facing her cousin.

"I've already taken care of your birth certificate and the properties you inherited from your parents, so you can visit anytime about it, Ellena." Justine said it to her directly.

"Thank you, but I don't know how to use what my parents left me." She sighed and just scratched her head.

"You can start if you need a refresher, Ellena. I know you're going through a tough time, but you need to accept these properties. My dad will come back at me for neglecting my cousin." Justine just sighed.

She just chuckled softly at what he was saying.

"Maybe when I no longer have classes, then I also need to go back to work." She could only confide in her cousin.

"Well, it's your choice. You have my phone number; you can call me anytime, Ellena." He just said it to her.

Sharlene simply nodded in agreement. "Thank you, Justine." She just said it.

The man standing before her simply smiled.

"Are you ready to sign that divorce paper?" This question from him was different.

This is what her mind is saying: she will lose her husband, and Martin will be free from her.

Sharlene weakly nodded. Although her mind was resisting, she had no choice but to comply.

"Justine, he has a right to the child, doesn't he?" Sharlene asked Justine.

He stared at her, even sighed at her. "Of course, that man agreed to your arrangement that he can still see and be with Ashley if he'd like to; he is still the child's father, even if you are no longer married." He explained his reasoning to her.

She only nodded. "That's good; we've already talked to Ashley. It's a difficult decision because I feel sorry for the child, but we told her that she will still see her dad. Justine, could you please let me know if I'm making the right decision?" She suddenly found herself asking him.

"Ellena, your decision to maintain independence in a relationship is neither right nor wrong; trust your intuition." Justine advises Sharlene.

She only simply nodded; she immediately signed the divorce paper. She was no longer Martin Francisco's wife; she believed it was better for both of them. Then, Lawrence also returned to another country to take care of the work he left behind.

"Justine, I know I have many questions, but how's Sheila?" Sharlene asked, worried.

"As I told you, she was implicated in all the cases of Angely and Raymundo because she was also involved in the syndicate back then." He said.

"Does he know any of Grandpa's business partners?" Sharlene asked the person she was talking to.

Justine thought for a moment.

"Yeah, he mentioned a mayor in the town of Regondo." Justine reflected on the past.

"Mayor of Regondo? Who?" She asked, surprised.

"Have you previously heard about the fate of the mayor's children? It was considered a major scandal at the time."

She rummaged through her mind to find out where she had heard that news. "He showered his two children with bullets, and two of them went missing, right?" she inquired. She asked and confirmed with Justine.

Justine nodded at him. "But there isn't much evidence yet if the mayor who was there was really involved."

"Isn't Bernard Fuego the mayor there?" she inquired. She asked her companion.

It only nodded. Suddenly, it crossed her mind that there were young women who were running away— that something connected to the name she mentioned earlier would happen.

"Many women go missing there. The town of Regondo is not safe right now." Justine just sighed.

The deaths of the two young women crossed her mind again. She closed her eyes to make the things she was seeing go away.

"Ellena, are you okay?" Justine asked her.

She just nodded. "Sorry if I worried you." She only shook her head.

Justine just tapped her.

"If you have time, you can visit Sheila." Justine just said it. "I need to go, Ellena." Saying goodbye to her.

Sharlene just nodded. "Be careful," she said to her cousin.

He smiled at her and nodded. She escorted Justine to the exit and waved only after he got into the car.

She could only frown in confusion at why she was witnessing the event.

"Sister," Tashia called.

"Mom, are you really never going to get back together with Dad?" The child asked her sadly.

"I have to do this, Ashley; we need to break up, but you can call your dad anytime." She explained to the child.

Sharlene just sighed. "Don't worry, when you grow up, my child, you'll gradually understand that too." She kissed her on the cheek.

Her child just hugged her. Her life returned to normal; she went back to teaching, and her child, Ashley, energetically went back to school after the incident. The children still cannot go on field trips.

One day, teachers from the town of Regondo came to visit them. There, he met a fellow teacher.

"Jake Roman." He introduced himself to the other teachers because they had an event to get to know each other.

Suddenly, what will happen in front of him crosses her mind; she just suppresses her wandering thoughts. There will be an encounter and a massacre.

Sharlene, it seems that is no longer a concern for you. She could only say it in her mind.

She just calmed herself down and let out a sigh.

She sees that Leah is pleased now and has finally become quiet. Sharlene sometimes struggles to control her ability. She is trying not to get involved in the troubles of the neighboring town. The trouble she is facing is over.

She is also unaware of the connection between what she sees and what is happening. For her, everything would be peaceful.

She also visits Justine's so-called properties, and he gives her the freedom to do whatever she wants with them.

Sometimes, Martin visits the child, and they talk occasionally, but that's as far as it goes for them.

And for her, she is giving the young Ashley the proper guidance that she did not experience from her parents before, because she was separated from them at an early age.

Whatever they face in the present, she will just prepare herself and confront it.

Occasionally her mind wonders why the two young women who were murdered in the town of Regondo keep appearing.

Don't mind them, don't mind them. She sighed as the reminder entered her mind.

She had found the answer to the question she had about Leah's life.
