Raya had lost all interest in watching the remainder of the battle. Though Zion hadn't answered her yet, she'd already figured out the truth on her own. Now she stared at Jacob with ice-cold eyes.
Her chest rose and fell rapidly from the surge of emotions. The look she gave Jacob carried a distinct chill, her face frozen like winter frost as she ground her teeth together.
Her feelings right now were incredibly conflicted. On one hand, she'd finally managed to establish a connection with Jacob and start working closely with him, so turning against him now would clearly be a bad move. On the other hand, the thought of Jacob stealing away the treasure she'd schemed for so long—and just accepting it without a fight—left her feeling genuinely bitter.
It was like finally going on a date with someone you'd been interested in for ages. You have dinner together, watch a movie, visit an amusement park—only for them to tell you at the end of the night that they're heading home to their boyfriend. Could anyone really be okay with that?
To obtain the broken Prison Bottle, Raya had invested enormous effort, spending massive amounts of manpower, money, and resources. She'd even entered into a deep partnership with the Dawn Society. And in the end, it had all been for nothing—Jacob had swooped in and claimed the prize.
She couldn't accept it!
Jacob needed to pay for this!
...
Out on the battlefield, Jacob felt countless eyes fixed on him, and a faint chill ran down his spine.
Hmph!
Just as I expected. The moment I revealed my Drakloak, everyone here would be jealous and start coveting my Shiny Pseudo-Legendary Pokémon. Let them be envious all they want.
Only those without talent avoid drawing envy.
...
"Drakloak, Dragon Pulse!" Jacob's voice rang out clearly.
Dragon-type energy wrapped around Drakloak's body. In an instant, the energy condensed into a powerful shockwave that shot toward Dragonite.
"Dragonite, dodge it, then counter with Dragon Claw!"
Even though Julia was surprised that Jacob had secretly trained a Shiny Drakloak, this was the critical moment of the finals—she didn't have time to dwell on it. She immediately ordered Dragonite to attack.
A Shiny Drakloak might be rare, but her Dragonite was also a Pseudo-Legendary Pokémon, and it had already reached its final evolution. Its strength wouldn't be any weaker than Drakloak's.
Dragonite's orange body danced gracefully through the air, moving at incredible speed. After dodging Drakloak's Dragon Pulse, it swooped toward its opponent with frightening velocity.
Dragon Claw swung forward, slicing through the air with a sharp whistle as it aimed straight for Drakloak's body.
"Night Shade!"
Just as Dragonite closed in, Jacob's voice cut through the tension.
The Ghost-type energy surrounding Drakloak erupted like a volcano, instantly forming a massive Night Shade illusion in front of it. A terrifying pressure radiated outward, making Dragonite hesitate.
Night Shade didn't just interrupt Dragonite's attack—it also dealt damage!
"That Ghost-type energy is so concentrated!"
"The Ghost-type energy around Drakloak's body is absolutely terrifying. I'm getting goosebumps just watching."
"It looks like Jacob's Drakloak specializes in Ghost-type energy. I'm really curious how he trained it. I feel like even a typical Quasi-Heavenly King-level Ghost-type Pokémon couldn't match this Drakloak when it comes to Ghost-type energy intensity."
...
Just as the audience was discussing, the Ghost-type energy surrounding Jacob's Drakloak was extraordinarily dense—so much so that it completely overshadowed the Dragon-type energy in its body.
There wasn't much he could do about it.
Even though Jacob had consistently made sure Drakloak consumed Dragon-type supplements, trained extensively in the Dragon-type Secret Realm, and equipped it with an A-grade Dragon Scale, none of that could compare to the core Ghost-type energy provided by the Prison Bottle.
A Legendary Pokémon was a Legendary Pokémon, after all. With Hoopa's core Ghost-type energy fueling it, the Ghost-type energy in Drakloak's body had already surpassed its Dragon-type energy. Now it truly deserved the titles "Ghost Dragon" and "Ghost-type Dragon."
The entire audience gasped in amazement, but only Raya's expression grew darker. This concentrated Ghost-type energy only confirmed her suspicions further.
...
"Drakloak, Phantom Force!"
In just a moment, Ghost-type energy surged from Drakloak's body once more, wrapping around its form before it vanished completely from the battlefield.
"Keep your guard up, Dragonite. Watch your surroundings."
Julia's brow furrowed deeply as she warned her Pokémon.
Phantom Force was a Ghost-type physical attack move, and like moves such as Fly, Bounce, Dive, and Dig, it required a charging period before it could be executed.
But Phantom Force was significantly stronger than those other moves because it had a very special property—it could bypass Protect and still land an attack.
That was what made Phantom Force superior to similar moves.
As Julia's words faded, Drakloak had already materialized behind Dragonite. Ghost-type energy enveloped its body as it launched a surprise attack instantly!
"That was so fast!"
"Drakloak seems to have attacked directly without any charging time at all."
"It's like it opened some kind of dimensional portal and struck immediately. The attack speed is incredible—there's no time to react."
...
Such incredible speed! That was everyone's immediate thought.
Normally, when using Phantom Force, a Pokémon first dives into another dimension, then charges up, and finally launches its attack—there's a charging process involved.
But when Jacob's Drakloak used Phantom Force, there was virtually no charging time. The moment it dove into the other dimension, it opened a gateway from the other side and attacked within an instant.
It completely skipped the intermediate charging phase, which clearly indicated something unusual was going on.
It was as if Drakloak had opened a spatial teleportation gate, launching surprise attacks regardless of distance. Such an ability was simply overpowered.
Watching this scene unfold, Jacob's eyebrows drew together slightly.
Others might not understand what was happening, but he did. The Phantom Force that Drakloak was using right now bore a striking resemblance to Hoopa's two signature moves.
Hyperspace Hole and Hyperspace Fury.
The effects of both moves were quite similar—they both relied on creating a Hyperspace Hole to suddenly appear beside an opponent and launch an attack, and both could ignore Protect and Detect.
The only real difference was that one was a special attack while the other was a physical attack.
The move Drakloak was using couldn't just be described as similar to these Hyperspace moves—it was practically identical.
Perhaps the Phantom Force that Drakloak was using should be renamed. "Hyperspace Ambush" would be far more fitting!
With that thought, Jacob suddenly made a new connection.
His Indeedee had learned Cresselia's signature moves, Lunar Dance and Lunar Blessing, through Cresselia's Lunar Wing.
Now Drakloak had learned a variation of Hyperspace Hole and Hyperspace Fury—this Hyperspace Ambush—through Hoopa's Prison Bottle.
Did that mean his other Pokémon could also learn Legendary Pokémon moves through items connected to Legendary Pokémon?
If that theory held true, then moves like Groudon's Precipice Blades, Kyogre's Origin Pulse, Rayquaza's Dragon Ascent, and even Arceus's Judgment could all potentially be learned.
Of course, this was just Jacob's speculation. After all, he'd only conducted two experiments so far, and the sample size was too small to verify his hypothesis properly.
...
Facing Drakloak's Hyperspace Ambush, Dragonite had no time to react and was struck directly by Drakloak's Ghost-type energy-covered claws.
"Dragonite!" Julia gritted her teeth. "Fight back! Use Dragon Claw—don't give Drakloak another chance to use Phantom Force!"
Julia's instincts were sharp. She knew that rather than trying to figure out how to block Drakloak's attacks, it was better to seize the moment and counterattack.
Dragonite pushed through the pain, swinging its Dragon Claw with fierce determination. It launched a powerful counterattack, slashing directly at Drakloak.
