Shadow Ball!"

Since Charizard had a double resistance to Fairy-type moves, Julia didn't choose to have Sylveon use a Fairy-type attack. She could only have it use the Ghost-type move Shadow Ball instead.

Ghost-type energy began gathering in front of Sylveon. The Shadow Ball formed instantly—a dark sphere of energy that shot toward Charizard hovering in the air.

"Charizard, use Flamethrower!"

Jacob's voice rang out, commanding Charizard to counter directly with Flamethrower.

The scales of victory had now completely tipped in his favor.

No matter how the battle unfolded, Mega Charizard Y couldn't possibly be defeated by Sylveon in such a short time—not to mention that Charizard still held both type advantage and weather advantage.

With the right timing, terrain, and momentum all on my side, Mega Charizard Y cannot lose.

"Roar!"

Charizard took a deep breath, then suddenly opened its mouth wide. Flames churned within before the built-up fire burst forth like a fire dragon, colliding with the Shadow Ball and causing a massive explosion.

"Sylveon, keep using Shadow Ball!"

Julia was extremely anxious now. Even though she couldn't clearly see through the smoke, she still chose to have Sylveon continue attacking.

She couldn't afford to waste even a single second.

The Shadow Ball pulsed through the air, disappearing into the thick smoke.

Suddenly, a powerful gust of wind swept through as Charizard flapped its black wings, soaring out of the smoke and into the sky, easily dodging Sylveon's attack.

At the same time, the Curse afflicting Sylveon continued to take effect, constantly draining its stamina.

In just the past minute, Sylveon had already lost a considerable amount of health.

"Sylveon, keep using Shadow Ball!" Julia's voice rang out again.

"Charizard, use Blast Burn!" Jacob's voice called out, a confident smile spreading across his face.

He could already see victory before him, and fierce flames seemed to burn in his eyes.

"Roar!"

Hearing Jacob's command, Charizard didn't hesitate for even a moment. Fire-type energy surged and churned as its black scales glowed bright red.

Flames ignited, seemingly setting the entire arena ablaze, casting a crimson glow across the sky! The intense flames swept across the entire battlefield, spreading outward and engulfing the Dragon's Den stadium.

Blast Burn collided with Shadow Ball, completely overwhelming it. Endless waves of fire spread outward, engulfing and consuming Sylveon!

"Boom!"

Thick smoke billowed as flames raged.

Every time Charizard used Blast Burn, it was absolutely spectacular. In terms of Fire-type special attacks alone, Charizard was an absolute powerhouse.

The fierce flames directly swallowed the Shadow Ball whole, scorching Sylveon's body.

When the flames finally receded, Sylveon's singed form was revealed, standing unsteadily in place.

"Sylveon is still standing! It can still fight!"

"But Sylveon is already severely injured and afflicted with the Curse effect, while Charizard has taken almost no damage!"

"I can hardly imagine what kind of strategy Sylveon could possibly use to defeat Charizard now!"

...

"Sylveon!" Julia's expression fell. Sylveon simply couldn't match Mega Charizard Y when it came to special attacks.

Originally, she'd planned to have Sylveon use a combination of moves like Toxic, Protect, and Wish to wear down Mega Charizard Y.

However, Drakloak's final Curse had directly shut down her stalling strategy, forcing her into a direct special attack battle with Charizard.

But it was obvious that Sylveon couldn't compete with Charizard in that regard.

Just then, the Ghost-type energy surrounding Sylveon flickered as the Curse activated again, draining away Sylveon's last bit of stamina.

"Sylve..."

Sylveon stumbled, lost its ability to battle, and collapsed to the ground.

...

"Sylveon is unable to battle. Jacob wins the match!"

When the referee raised the flag symbolizing victory, the venue instantly erupted with overwhelming cheers and passionate shouts!

"Jacob!"

"Jacob!"

"Jacob!"

The audience members from Starlight City and Frosthollow Province were especially excited, waving Jacob's posters enthusiastically and celebrating wildly, their expressions thrilled and their faces flushed with excitement.

This was the first time in so many years that Starlight City had produced a Champion!

...

"Let us congratulate Jacob for winning this year's High School Cup Championship!"

"Congratulations to Starlight City! Congratulations to Frosthollow Province for claiming this year's High School Cup Championship!"

"Who would have thought that Jacob, who has been a Trainer for less than a year, would be able to win the Championship in this competition?"

"Throughout his journey, many people questioned Jacob's strength, but today, with Drakloak's brilliant performance, Jacob has silenced all those who doubted him."

"Without a doubt, Jacob is the strongest Trainer of this year!"

...

"Come back, Sylveon."

As she recalled Sylveon, Julia's face showed a hint of disappointment. Despite using all her strategies, she'd still lost to Jacob, and she couldn't help feeling somewhat regretful.

Taking a deep breath, Julia composed herself. A bright smile returned to her face as she looked toward Jacob.

Actually, she wasn't too disappointed—because the person who had defeated her was Jacob.

...

The two left the battle arena and walked together toward the awards platform.

"Jacob, congratulations!" Julia approached Jacob, graciously offering her congratulations.

"Thank you." Jacob looked at Julia with a brilliant smile on his face. After winning the Championship, he was in an excellent mood. "You're too kind, Julia."

"Jacob, you lied to me!" Hearing Jacob's playful words, Julia pouted slightly. Her gaze held a hint of complaint mixed with charm as she looked at him. "I told you about all my main Pokémon, but you still kept Drakloak hidden from me."

"Ahem." Jacob couldn't help but feel a bit embarrassed.

"Tell me honestly—besides these Pokémon, are there any other main Pokémon you haven't told me about?" Julia continued. "You know all my main Pokémon, but I don't know all of yours. That's not fair."

Listening to Julia's words, cold sweat broke out on Jacob's forehead. He nervously rubbed his nose, saying, "No, I promise Drakloak is my strongest Pokémon."

Iron Valiant is my partner, not a Pokémon.

Jacob silently added in his mind.

"Really?" Julia looked skeptical.

"It's definitely true! And you actually do know about Drakloak," Jacob defended himself. "I told you I got a Dreepy egg."

"Alright." Julia thought about it and realized that was indeed the case. She had known Jacob had a Dreepy—she just hadn't expected it to grow so quickly. In just half a year, it had evolved into a Gym Leader-level Drakloak.

Thinking of this, Julia couldn't help but remind him with genuine concern. "Jacob, you need to be careful. Your Drakloak's growth rate is abnormally fast. It'll definitely attract attention from others."

"Mm, I know." Jacob nodded in acknowledgment. He'd already considered this. Since he'd decided to use Drakloak in the finals, he'd naturally prepared himself mentally for the consequences.

"Let's go. We need to accept the award."

"Okay."
