Wearing the cape of justice, the rank insignia on his shoulders had already changed from Commodore to Rear Admiral.
The Navy acted swiftly. The day after Kai had completely wiped out all the pirates on Sabaody Archipelago, Garp came to Sabaody to conduct the promotion ceremony for Kai. However, he didn't stay too long before heading off to the New World.
He directly dumped all the affairs of the Navy branch onto Johnson and Vigona, leaving Kai free and unencumbered—though he was someone who couldn't sit still.
And on Sabaody Archipelago, he naturally thought of one person!
Silvers Rayleigh!!
The man known as the "Dark King" and "Right Hand of the Pirate King"! Vice-captain of the Oro Jackson, who after the dissolution of the Roger Pirates, remained on Sabaody Archipelago and became a coating craftsman.
Islands fifty through fifty-nine of Sabaody Archipelago were all shipyards and coating craftsmen. Finding Rayleigh among them would be quite troublesome.
However, Kai knew there was one person who definitely knew Rayleigh's whereabouts.
Sabaody Archipelago, Grove Thirteen.
Kai seemed to discover he had some directional challenges. After walking for quite a while without finding his destination, he finally had no choice but to stop a passerby and ask:
"Um... excuse me, do you know where Shakky's Rip-off Bar is?"
The passerby that Kai stopped initially looked impatient, but upon seeing Kai's attire, immediately became respectful.
However, when he heard Kai's inquiry, his expression became strange again as he spoke:
"Rear Admiral, sir, what business do you have there? That's not a good place. Even Vice Admiral Strawberry was once thrown out of there."
Kai smiled and said: "I have some business. Just tell me where it is."
The passerby was stunned. He'd made it so clear, yet this Navy Rear Admiral still didn't understand. Whatever—he'd already given his warning, so if something happened, it wouldn't be his fault.
"Go straight ahead, then turn right at the intersection and you'll be there." After speaking, the passerby left as if fleeing, afraid of being associated with that place in any way.
"Thanks."
Kai thanked the passerby's retreating figure and walked in the direction indicated.
Shakky's Rip-off Bar—whether because Kai had killed all the pirates clean or it was normally like this—seemed exceptionally quiet.
Without knocking, Kai walked straight in. The bar tables inside were covered with dust, clearly showing the bar owner had reached a level of laziness comparable to Kai's.
Looking around, he didn't see a single customer.
Kai walked directly to the bar counter and casually sat on a chair in front of it.
Behind the counter, Shakky—with short black hair, wearing a black and white vest with a red spider pattern—was lazily lying on a reclining chair.
"Bartender, one beer," Kai said.
Suddenly hearing a voice, Shakky finally reacted. Looking at Kai, a flash of shock passed through her eyes: he had walked right up to her before she even noticed!
Taking a deep look at Kai, Shakky got up and poured a glass of beer from the barrel behind her.
Bang!Shakky slammed the beer glass on the counter, causing foam to splash out. Shakky spoke: "Navy man, drink up quickly and get the hell out of here when you're done."
Though she couldn't gauge Kai's depth, Shakky showed no fear of him whatsoever.
Kai didn't seem angry either and began drinking his beer on his own. After a while, seeing Kai nearly finished, Shakky suddenly spoke: "Pay up. Ten million berries."
Kai was stunned. Ten million berries for one glass of beer?
A rip-off bar indeed!?
Ah... right, Kai then remembered that this bar was literally called "Rip-off Bar."
Seeing Kai hadn't moved for a while, Shakky spoke with disdain: "What? Can't even a Navy Rear Admiral come up with ten million berries?"
Kai's face showed some embarrassment—he really couldn't produce ten million berries. But thinking of something, he smiled instead and said: "Of course I can. But bartender, I haven't had enough to drink yet. Please give me forty-two more beers!"
"Hm?" Shakky was somewhat puzzled and confirmed again: "Ten million per glass! Forty-two glasses!?"
"Of course." Kai shrugged, confirming.
Shakky said nothing more, turned around, and began pouring beers for Kai.
Glass after glass, drinking forty-three beers consecutively, Kai's expression didn't change in the slightest. The moment the beer entered his stomach, Kai relied on his powerful bodily functions to forcibly convert all the beer into water vapor, dispersing it into the air—naturally, there would be no change.
"Alright, you've had your fill. Pay up quickly and get lost," Shakky said somewhat impatiently.
"Sorry, I didn't bring any money." Kai spread his hands with an innocent expression.
Shakky was stunned, then her expression became somewhat unfriendly as she spoke: "So you're planning to skip out on the bill? Navy man!"
Kai shook his head and smiled: "Of course not. But I have a good solution. Want to hear it?"
"What solution?" Shakky asked puzzledly.
Kai looked at Shakky and spoke calmly: "'Monster Woman' Shakky, a great pirate from twenty years ago with a bounty of four hundred thirty million berries—exactly covering the drink bill just now. How about it?"
"Mitarashi Kai! Just who are you!? How do you know my identity!?" Shakky's pupils contracted as she glared at Kai and demanded.
"Didn't you already say? Mitarashi Kai, Navy Rear Admiral," Kai replied.
"It can't be that simple. Before Windmill Village, there was no intelligence about you anywhere on the seas. Moreover, if you were just a Navy Rear Admiral, you wouldn't have the power to contend with Akainu!!!" Shakky stared intently at Kai as she spoke.
Kai looked at Shakky with some surprise. The first part of Shakky's intelligence might be easy to gather, but his battle with Akainu had taken place in Sengoku's office. Apart from the Navy's high command, no one else knew about it. How did Shakky learn of it?
