Chapter 545 - Kiana-baby: Caught Cheating by Mei?

The future Honkai World. The Moon. The Cocoon of Finality.

"No problem, huh?"

"What's going on?"

"So what do we do?"

Earth's god, Miss Kiana Kaslana, currently sat cross-legged inside the Cocoon that symbolized the ultimate authority, utterly without dignity. Her gorgeous white lace nightgown traced the curves of her voluptuous figure, exposing a sensual collarbone and an expanse of dazzlingly pale skin beneath the dim light.

Her delicate face, however, was scrunched up, etched with pure frustration.

"I'd rather go back a few years and retake that imaginary-physics exam Dr. Einstein and Dr. Tesla cooked up together! Even a makeup exam would be better than this!"

A few years ago, in order to remove Honkai from Earth for good, Kiana had used her authority as the Herrscher of Finality to draw nearly all of Earth's Honkai energy back into the Cocoon of Finality, leaving behind only the faintest trace.

Her plan was to wait for human civilization to mature, to let them find their own path to mastering Honkai energy, before taking the next step.

At the same time, concentrating all that imaginary energy also helped her explore the power of Finality on a deeper level.

To help Luoxing and the Dreamseeker stabilize the newborn world, Kiana still needed to "fall asleep" regularly, letting her consciousness sink into a particular dream realm.

As it happened, she'd drifted off with a plate of rice cakes, snacking and humming a tune, when suddenly another version of herself hijacked the dream!

Calling it a hijacking might not be quite fair.

After all, half the blame for this mess probably belonged to her too... didn't it?

Kiana honestly couldn't say.

The first time it happened out of nowhere, drawing on her extensive experience of being backstabbed by her own Finality authority during past training and experiments, she'd instinctively assumed she'd bungled her power again.

The moment her consciousness returned to her own world, Kiana immediately activated one of the fruits of years of painstaking research: a full diagnostic on the Cocoon of Finality and her own authority.

Result: everything normal.

Conclusion: that was exactly the biggest problem!

If her power was fine and the Cocoon was stable, then why had she crossed into a parallel world without warning?

And why had the Cocoon of Finality shown no reaction whatsoever?

Kiana finally arrived at one conclusion:

"The Cocoon of Finality is probably fine. But 'fine' doesn't seem right either."

She clutched her head in agony, feeling like her left and right brains were locked in fierce combat, letting out a miserable wail:

"There's nothing I can do about it, aaaaargh!"

"What in the world is going on here?!"

She couldn't imagine anything capable of bypassing the Cocoon of Finality's awareness to meddle directly with her mind.

The only explanation left was that some anomaly in her own Finality authority was slipping past her detection.

But repeated, exhaustive checks kept showing everything was normal.

It was maddening beyond words!

She even suspected the diagnostic program itself had a bug, so she personally dove in, transforming herself into a human debugger, tracing everything from the Cocoon's surface structure all the way down to its deep interface with the Imaginary Tree, checking every last corner.

Then, right as she was fully absorbed in her inspection—she crossed over again.

Same familiar scene. Same familiar people. Same... familiar activity.

Kiana wanted to cry but had no tears left, forced into the role of a VIP audience member strapped into the best seat in the house, experiencing a first-person, fully immersive live broadcast of "the Emperor-Tier Honkai Beast Collision."

What could she do?

She could hardly tell the little lovebirds to stop being intimate, could she?

Especially when one of the leads was a parallel version of herself...

As the saying goes: awkward the first time, familiar the second. Friends by the third or fourth. Holding hands by the fifth or sixth. An embrace by the seventh or eighth. And by the ninth or tenth—straight to the bed.

Kiana was about to lose her mind!

"Why is it that every single time I show up, you two are doing THIS?!"

"Can't you go shopping, go on a date, watch a movie or something?!"

Sure, that particular activity felt very good, but there had to be moderation in all things!

"...Or is this... this sort of thing actually the trigger condition for crossing over?"

No—!

Not that! Not that kind of thing!

Worse still, Kiana realized in horror that she seemed to have... unlocked a whole new world!

Come to think of it, as Earth's god, she was—by Earth-years reckoning—an auntie nearly pushing forty, and yet she'd never once experienced anything like this.

In the past, her dreaming mind had either been a quiet void, or warm little vignettes spent with family and close friends.

But now.

Scenes of some other world's clouds and rain kept surfacing in her mind, utterly beyond her control.

Watching helplessly as she herself did...

That kind of shame, comparable to a public execution, was simply too terrifying.

The most maddening part was that she got the full experience as if she were the one in it, vivid, real, and...

Completely impossible to stop!

Just thinking about that strange sensation made Kiana's curled-up, voluptuous legs rub together involuntarily, and her hand moved as if possessed by some devil...

Wait!

Stop it right now!!

Kiana jolted awake, yanking her hand back as if scalded, her mind trembling wildly in shame, and rolled around inside the Cocoon of Finality in a fit of mortified fury.

Watching her current voluptuous, married-woman-esque figure throw such a childish tantrum created an explosive gap-moe effect.

Kiana even considered using her Finality authority to wipe those unbearable memory fragments clean.

But... what if she erased them, only to cross over again next time?

Would she be stuck in an endless nightmare loop of erase-watch-shame-erase?

Right as Kiana-baby sank into ultimate contemplation about her future divine existence—

Without warning—

The instant she became aware of it, the entire world had already changed completely.

What filled her vision was that face that had recently been appearing so frequently in her spr— ahem, dreams.

A young man with gray hair and golden eyes.

The lingering wetness and stickiness between her legs was unusually vivid, but inside, Kiana-baby felt not a ripple—if anything, she almost wanted to sigh in relief.

Here we go again...

She glanced down at herself—yep, her clothes weren't fully off yet.

So... foreplay hadn't even started before I interrupted it?

This seemingly transcendent calm was actually just the hard-won resilience of someone who'd been parachuted into this situation over and over again.

As a certain gilded fellow once put it: you think I don't know how many times I've been dropped into a mess like this?

At this point, was there really anything left to panic about?

It was already happening either way, and she couldn't exactly resist it, so what else could she do?

"Wait! It's me! It's me!"

Kiana-baby was delighted to discover that this time she could actually control the body. She hurriedly threw out both hands in a textbook "stop" gesture, halting the young man who looked like he was about to embrace her the next instant.

"...Kiana from another parallel world?"

Caelus's motion froze, a perfectly calibrated flicker of surprise crossing his face.

It was mixed with understanding and a helpless "you again?" look, as if this sort of surprise event had already become routine for him.

The micro-expressions were pitch-perfect, every detail dialed in.

Peak acting performance, unrivaled under heaven—where Caelus goes, drama follows!

As it happened, apart from White Seele—who, taking advantage of already having multiple personalities, had let Seele's existence slip—neither Little Duck nor Haxxor Bunny had told their other selves about the little secret the two sides regularly swapped.

Kiana-baby was, in a sense, the second person to poke a hole through that particular window paper.

White Comet had tried to feel her out, hoping to trick Kiana-baby into impersonating her to get away with it, but Kiana-baby had refused—she felt it was better to just be upfront about it.

"Ha, haha, um... so-sorry about that?"

Like a big white cat who'd just knocked something over, Kiana-baby pressed her palms together and tried to smooth things over with an awkward, if polite, sheepish grin.

Without fully understanding the mechanics of the crossing, some part of her subconscious insisted she bore half the responsibility for this.

Interrupting someone's intimate moment with their partner... an apology was only proper, right?

"It's fine."

Caelus reined in that impassioned posture, let out a long breath, his cheeks slightly flushed from forcibly suppressing some emotion.

This, right here, was what you called acting.

"Did you find the cause of the problem this time, when you went back?"

He asked with concern, smoothly steering the conversation back onto safer ground.

Seeing Caelus act so understanding only made Kiana-baby's guilt shoot through the roof.

"I'm so sorry..."

Kiana-baby hung her head, dejected, like a frost-bitten eggplant. "I still haven't found the cause..."

"It's fine."

Caelus's voice was gentle but firm, full of encouragement. "Keep at it. I'm sure you'll figure out what's wrong, and solve it for good!"

"Mmm."

Kiana-baby's eyes instantly welled up with tears.

Her body had taken over his girlfriend's, and instead of blaming her, he was comforting and encouraging her instead... how, how incredibly sweet of him!

Moved, Kiana-baby thumped her chest and swore a heartfelt, solemn oath:

"Caelus, if you ever get the chance to visit my world, I'll treat you to instant noodles—ones that haven't expired, even!"

That was her precious strategic food reserve, painstakingly saved up penny by penny and secretly hidden away from Mei.

Caelus: "..."

Please, I beg you, never go around telling other people you're Earth's god...

If intelligent life from other planets heard that the highest hospitality Earth's own god could offer was a pack of instant noodles that hadn't even expired yet, what kind of unbelievably impoverished backwater would they imagine Earth's civilization to be in the eyes of the galaxy?

"So, um, where exactly is this place?"

To dodge the awkward atmosphere, Kiana-baby searched for a new topic while quickly straightening out her disheveled clothes, covering up the exposed curves.

Even though this was a parallel version of her own body—with the real owner right there inside it, utterly unbothered by putting her spring scenery on display—Kiana-baby still wasn't in the habit of chatting with her chest bared.

"The Reverie Hotel."

Caelus answered.

"Reverie? What a... unique name?"

Kiana-baby muttered under her breath.

"Once you understand what this place actually is, it won't seem unique at all—you'll think it's the most fitting name there could be."

Caelus smiled and began explaining, in detail, all about Penacony and the Land of the Dreams.

"The Planet of Festivities... a world of beautiful dreams... an interstellar resort destination..."

One title after another, each more baffling than the last, left Kiana-baby slightly dazed. She hopped off the bed, her flawless jade-white feet touching down on the dark brown floor, and walked to the massive floor-to-ceiling window, peering out curiously.

"Whoa!!"

A gasp of astonishment slipped from her lips before she could help it.

Outside the window lay a sight far beyond anything an Earthling could imagine.

Gleaming, gold-trimmed towering structures rose in layered splendor beneath dreamlike light, gleaming tracks weaving between them, strange flying vessels cutting across a night sky strewn with stars.

Even though she herself, as Earth's god and Herrscher of Finality, could plunge all of humanity into dreams and build entire illusory worlds, the Reverie Hotel standing before her—rooted in reality—radiated the grandeur and extravagance of an interstellar civilization.

A wonder unmatched by any structure on Earth!

"Is this... is this really the interstellar age?"

Kiana-baby murmured to herself, her azure eyes reflecting the brilliant galaxy and the dazzling lights.

She'd heard scattered bits of information about this world from White Comet before, but every previous crossing had been confined strictly to the bed—either mid-act, on the way to it, or in foreplay... and she'd been pulled back not long after it was over.

There'd never been a chance to see anything beyond Caelus's room.

This was the very first time Kiana-baby had truly touched this vast stage called the Galaxy.

"What's that over there?"

Kiana-baby pointed at something outside the window, trying to shift the subtly charged atmosphere.

"Oh, that's..."

Caelus patiently began explaining. The two of them kept chatting like this, with Caelus doing most of the talking, introducing Kiana-baby to the sights and customs of Penacony.

The earlier awkwardness gradually faded, the mood settling into something as easy as old friends catching up.

Knock, knock, knock—!

A sudden knock at the door interrupted their conversation.

Kiana-baby instinctively glanced at Caelus, blinking, an inexplicable pang of guilt rising in her chest.

Why did she suddenly feel like she'd been caught in bed, like they were having an affair?

Caelus's expression stayed composed, though something stirred in his mind.

Seele and Bronie immediately checked—everyone else was confirmed in their own rooms. So who could this be?

Caelus used his room card—his Dreamscape Pass—to remotely unlock the door.

"Hey, friend..."

A slightly glib voice drifted in as Aventurine tossed the chip in his hand, strolling in with a leisurely gait.

But the moment he spotted Caelus and a strikingly beautiful, uniquely composed white-haired girl standing by the floor-to-ceiling window—with a hint of some indescribable atmosphere still lingering in the air—he paused.

"Did I pick a bad time to show up?"

"You did."

Caelus nodded, unbothered. "What are you doing here?"

"Hey, come on, don't be so cold. Didn't you say we're practically brothers from different parents?" Aventurine said with a smile.

"Honestly, if we really were brothers, and you still chose this exact moment to barge in, I'd have to think about whether to bury you in Jarilo-VI's ice sheets or leave you in the Ambrosial Arbor of the Xianzhou to be drained of your life force."

Caelus rested his chin on his hand, his eyes flicking toward Kiana-baby, who was doing her best to look inconspicuous nearby.

"..."

Aventurine fell silent for a beat, the golden chip stopping mid-spin between his fingers.

Maybe he really should thank Caelus for going easy on him, he thought to himself, even as his gaze kept sliding back toward the unfamiliar white-haired girl.

She wasn't a member of the Express...

How long had she even been staying at the hotel?

And already moving this fast?

Weren't you the husband of that Genius, Miss Ruan Mei? Bold move.

Or... was this an old acquaintance?

"Well, since that's how it is, I'll keep this short."

As a man well-versed in the ways of the world, Aventurine knew better than to overstay his welcome right now.

"Simply put, friend, I need your help. You may not realize it, but Penacony is far from as simple as it looks. The Family's eyes are everywhere here. I won't spell it out, but you understand what I mean."

"My goal is simple—help the IPC reclaim something that rightfully belongs to it. If you're willing to help me, once it's done, you'll receive a generous reward, plus the protection of Preservation."

"I've got a wife. Don't need the IPC."

"A Genius really is no less than the IPC, but a bit too proud for their own good."

Facing Caelus, who made zero effort to hide his kept-man attitude, Aventurine just smiled:

"The IPC is a terribly vulgar organization—the only protection it can really offer is credits."

"But then again, relying on your wife forever isn't a great look. A real man's got to stand on his own two feet."

This lightspeed shift in principle left Kiana-baby staring in blank astonishment.

Wait, was the "wife" Caelus mentioned... herself?

A Genius?

Was her other self somehow a genius?

"Hahaha, when the time's right, I'll come find you again, friend."

Aventurine picked up on the unspoken "I'll consider it" in Caelus's tone and knew when to quit while ahead.

He pocketed his chip and turned to leave this increasingly awkward scene.

Just then, a voice sounded from the doorway.

"Hey, you two—what are you doing in my room?"

A tall woman with purple hair falling to her waist, a great sword slung across her back, spoke in a cold voice as she stepped inside.

"M-Mei!?"

That familiar silhouette, that familiar presence, made Kiana-baby blurt it out on reflex, like an involuntary reaction.

Oh no!

Caught in the act!

Kiana-baby panicked.

"?...!!!"

Her real name, called out of nowhere, cracked through the air like a thunderclap.

Acheron's head snapped toward the sound.

The moment that face—99% identical to one burned deep into her memory—came into view, she froze on the spot as if struck by lightning, the cold detachment on her face instantly replaced by shock.
