Chapter 20 - Chapter 20: Sleeping Pills

"Sorry, Silas, it was for your own good." Ivy softly said, her calm voice echoed in the air.

Power Rain gave powers, but it was equally painful for all those who were going to awaken their superpowers.

The pain was biting and severe enough to bring even a powerful man like Silas to his knees.

The bacteria of the human body resist the awakening of powers due to how new it is.

In her last life, Silas, like others, tried to keep himself awake and fight the pain, thinking something bad was happening to him.

This resistance led to a side effect. Every time Silas used his healing and thunder superpower, he felt agonizing pain in his heart. Those who had resisted also gained some other side effects.

The scariest part, however, was... even though she might have told Silas everything, he still might have resisted it knowingly or unknowingly.

Not to mention... Ivy checked the time. Within 1 hour, everyone will feel pain and start to resist, so before that, she needed to knock them all out.

She hurriedly entered Silas's room and opened the third drawer of the left-side cupboard.

Taking out the sleeping pills, she walked out of the room, crushed the sleeping pills in water, and fed them to Silas.

Maybe Silas still trusted Ivy, or his body unconsciously relaxed its guard around Ivy, and he drank the water without resistance.

With difficulty, Ivy helped Silas to his bed and covered him properly. Her body trembled a bit due to strenuous activity; however, she forced herself to stand up and messaged Henry to come to the apartment.

Henry, who was checking the news, suddenly received a message and stood up,

"Captain wants my help? What could it be? I should go and find out."

Soon, he arrived at the apartment, and to his surprise, the door was open. He walked inside and called out,

"Cap..."

Before he could finish his words, he felt a force on his neck and suddenly felt the world spinning.

"You..." Henry pointed Ivy in exasperation and fainted.

Ivy pursed her lips, brought Henry to Silas's guest bedroom, and laid him on the mattress on the floor.

'I have no personal grudge with him. The bed is for girls.' She justified herself as she covered Henry with a blanket.

One by one, Ivy knocked out all the members of Silas's team and laid them in the room. She didn't forget to feed them sleeping pills.

Seeing that only 10 minutes were left, Ivy posted a message from her second account in the community group,

"Don't resist the pain, take sleeping pills, and sleep. Otherwise, side effects may arise."

'Now... only Silas's parents are remaining...' Ivy thought. Biting her lips, she called them using Silas's number.

The call picked up within a few seconds, and an unfamiliar but familiar cold female voice echoed,

"Hello? Silas? You finally called. Where are you? Why haven't you returned home yet?"

"I am Ivy," Ivy replied, and the voice on the other end fell silent.

"Look before you start to scold me, please hear me out. The phenomenon that is happening now is called Power Rain.

Uncle and Aunt should already know that the wave of sleepiness you all might be feeling now is unusual.

Please tell uncle and aunt not to resist and fall asleep after taking the sleeping pills. Also, cover yourself with a blanket and keep the environment around you as warm as you can.

Silas had asked me to convey this information, and you can reconfirm it from him tomorrow. You only have 10 minutes left, so do it fast."

With a pounding heart, Ivy hung up the call and placed a hand on her heart.

Even after a lifetime, the voice of her sister-in-law still scares her.

'Sh*t!' Ivy tapped her phone. In her hurry to save Silas and his team, she forgot to notify his team members about the preventative measure.

Luckily, all of them had brought their phone with them. Without hesitation, Ivy sent them the message.

Ivy pressed last send and moved to take the sleeping pills when a dull ache spread through her fingers, and she almost collapsed to her knees.

"No..." She muttered in despair as she looked at the sleeping pills on the table in the living room.
