Jay didn't laugh. Something inside him had changed.
Before, he believed he loved his work and Ember equally.
Now, he realized that without Ember, everything else was meaningless. In every scene where he lost her, his research, his ambitions, his achievements all turned hollow.
'If Ember isn't with me… I want nothing.'
So he made his decision.
If only one thing truly mattered, then that would be his priority.
Ember.
He pulled back slightly, then leaned down and kissed her, fiercely, as if there truly was no tomorrow. The urgency in his kiss startled her, but after a heartbeat of surprise, she responded, wrapping her arms around him.
For a moment, Ember wondered, 'Did he eat some kind of stimulant? Why is he acting like a cat in heat?'
Despite the complaint forming in her mind, her heart swelled with secret joy. This was rare. Jay rarely initiated like this.
Soon, however, she felt his intensity grow overwhelming and lightly tapped his hand. "Jay…"
