Chapter 24 - Game Coins

Leonard took a deep breath and prepared for battle.

Fortunately, there were no other zombie minions around the Leaping Zombie. Leonard's favorite kind of one-on-one scenario.

No big deal!

He stepped forward quickly, raising the Blood Sigil Shield in his right hand, ready to strike.

As he closed the distance, the Leaping Zombie sensed the presence of the living. Its bloodshot eyes locked onto Leonard's moving figure.

"Roar!"

The zombie hunched over in a sprinter's pose. After a brief buildup of energy, it shot forward like an arrow.

Whoosh!

It leapt eight meters in a single bound and still midair, not yet touching the ground.

In the blink of an eye, it was right in front of Leonard, the two colliding head-on.

So fast!

Leonard hurriedly raised his shield to block. The exorcism talisman on the shield glowed red, illuminating the zombie's body but the momentum was too strong to stop.

BAM!!!

The zombie slammed straight into the Exorcism Shield. The impact sent Leonard flying backward, and the Leaping Zombie landed hard.

The blow was heavy and powerful, instantly reducing the shield's durability by 10 points.

One more hit like that, and the shield would shatter!

Leonard's fierce instincts kicked in. Regaining his footing, he launched a counterattack, charging straight at the zombie.

If he kept his distance, the zombie could leap over in an instant and cause massive damage. Close combat was the safer bet.

He rushed in and unleashed a triple strike, hammering the zombie three times in quick succession.

Luckily, all three blows landed solidly.

The final hit made the zombie stumble, leaving a large dent in its head.

But it wasn't dead yet. It suddenly lashed out with a sweeping kick. No warning, no wind-up, just a lightning-fast strike.

Caught off guard, Leonard took the full brunt of the kick to his waist.

-50!

A damage number popped up.

He felt like his bones were shattered, but he gritted his teeth and launched a sweeping kick of his own.

His leg connected with the zombie's but it didn't work.

He'd miscalculated.

The Leaping Zombie's legs were too strong. The sweep had no effect and failed to knock it down.

The failed attack opened Leonard up to a counterstrike.

He quickly retreated and triggered a mechanism. His Spring Iron Fist launched out, striking the zombie in the chest.

The blow forced the zombie back, putting some space between them again.

It crouched down once more, ready to leap.

Leonard quickly sidestepped and pulled out his flashlight, shining it directly in the zombie's face.

The flashlight was a godsend, it worked again.

The UV beam interrupted the zombie's attack. Like a shy maiden, it covered its face with its hands.

Leonard seized the opportunity and charged in from the side, swinging the spring-loaded iron fist with all his might.

The zombie's head exploded into a mess, flesh torn, brain matter flying.

"Die!"

He landed one final blow, smashing the zombie to the ground.

Its body twitched slightly, and two beams of light appeared.

It dropped loot!

Two items, a gold coin and a map.

Leonard reached out to collect his spoils.

Suddenly, a door on the side burst open, and a blood-soaked zombie lunged at him, tackling him to the ground.

Its fangs went straight for his neck.

If it bit him, it would be game over.

Leonard reacted fast, pushing against its chest with his elbow, maintaining a safe distance.

Crunch! Crunch!

The zombie stretched its neck, jaws snapping just centimeters from Leonard's throat.

With a burst of strength, Leonard shoved it away and counterattacked with his weapon.

This was just a regular zombie, not a match for him.

He finished it off in a few quick strikes.

Another corpse hit the floor.

"Huff... huff…"

Leonard panted heavily, shaken. He'd almost died in a ditch.

In this survival game, you can never let your guard down.

Finally free, Leonard picked up the floating coin and map.

[Obtained Game Coin ×1.]

[Description: Game Coins are rare currency in the Dormitory Survival Game. After clearing a round, they can be used to receive powerful assistance.]

Leonard examined the so-called Game Coin closely.

It wasn't fully gold.

The front had a golden sun emblem, the back a silver moon, two-toned in gold and silver.

It looked beautifully crafted.

As for whether it was real gold and silver, who knew?

"Looks like you can't use these during gameplay. Only after clearing a round. I'll hang onto it."

He put the coin away and unfolded the map.

[Obtained full map of the "Night of Terror" game area.]

Players had a built-in mapping function that auto-drew visited areas.

This map, however, filled in all the unvisited zones.

It even marked dorm info who lived where was now clear.

Max (ranked second), Purple Shadow (ranked third), and others like Fire and Fattyboy could all be located.

Leonard's eyes lit up as he scrolled downward.

At the bottom of the map was B3. A large room marked "Danger Zone."

"That must be where the final boss is," Leonard muttered.

There were two ways to clear the game.

Survive until the fourth day or kill the boss.

Clearly, the second method was riskier but more rewarding.

Leonard preferred that option.

Of the three mutated zombies released tonight, he'd already killed two. One remained.

Meanwhile, the player chat group was buzzing.

Max had posted several photos of their group posing with the Iron Claw Zombie's corpse.

It lay on the ground, dead, surrounded by other human bodies.

[See that? That's what real strength looks like! Want to survive? Join me!]

Max was smug.

He likely attracted many followers, he gave them hope.

Then dawn arrived.

Zombies fled, searching for places to sleep. Smoke rose from their bodies as they retreated in disarray.

It was humanity's turn to fight back. Players burst from their rooms to hunt the fleeing zombies.

For ordinary players, daytime was the only chance to fight back. No one dared leave their rooms at night.

Leonard glanced at the player count.

Only 66 left out of 100!

More than a dozen died last night.

He had no time to mourn strangers.

Today, he had one mission.

Go upstairs and find that secret room!

Yesterday was all about exploring downstairs. Today, it was time to go up. That room had to be hiding something crucial. He had to figure it out.

Leonard messaged Rebecca, asking her to keep watch for him again. Then he ascended the stairs.

12th floor.

13th floor.

The hidden room was on this level!
