Chapter 10 - The game of pretend.

"Walk easier now," Yeonjun said softly as he knelt in front of Kang Hye-jin, adjusting the slippers on her feet.

He stood up and gently guided her, taking her arm over his shoulder to support her weight. Hye-jin leaned into him without hesitation, still half-lost in her drunken world, humming some random tune as they walked toward the elevator.

Once they reached their floor, Yeonjun carefully led her down the hallway to her apartment door. He straightened up, gently letting her go.

"Here you go," he said, stepping back toward his own apartment door just a few steps away.

But he didn't leave.

Instead, he stood there casually, leaning on his doorframe, waiting — making sure she got inside safely.

Hye-jin, however, was staring at her door like it was some kind of unsolvable mystery.

She poked the keypad with her finger dramatically, then frowned.

"Hmph... I entered it right," she mumbled, her brows furrowing adorably.

"Why's it not opening? I dialed it…"

Yeonjun watched, amused and concerned at the same time.

With sharp eyes, he noticed the problem immediately — she was saying the password correctly out loud but her drunken fingers were pressing the wrong buttons.

Suppressing a laugh, "Haha!"

 he walked over to her.

Without a word, he gently brushed her hand aside and typed in the correct code himself.

With a soft beep, the door unlocked.

Hye-jin's jaw dropped dramatically.

She turned to him, pointing an accusing (and very wobbly) finger.

"How do you know my password, huh? Hmmmm? Bad boyyyyy! Are you spying on meeee?" she said, pouting her lips out and dragging out her words in a slurred, adorable mess.

Yeonjun chuckled, his laughter low

"What! I can't believe this" and amused, finding her too ridiculous and too cute to even defend himself properly.

Without waiting for an answer, Hye-jin stumbled inside her apartment and closed the door — but not without giving him one last suspicious squint.

Yeonjun stood there for a moment, shaking his head with a wide grin, before finally heading to his own apartment.

Yeonjun shook his head with a small laugh as he watched her door close.

"Trouble... she's still a troublemaker,"

he thought, smiling to himself before finally turning toward his own apartment.

He turned away and entered his own apartment. The door clicked shut behind him, and he walked over to the couch.

With a sigh, he sank into the cushions, staring up at the ceiling for a moment before his gaze shifted to the window.

"It's difficult huhhh..." he muttered to himself, the words drifting through his mind.

"it's Difficult to pretend to be strangers to the people we know with our soul… But also we can't do anything about it. It's our helplessness for their sake."

He lay there quietly, the weight of his thoughts settling in. The truth of his words hung in the air, and for a moment, he wondered just how long he could keep up the game of pretend.

Authors thought :

Why? Why continue this game of pretend?

What truth are they hiding—what mystery lies beneath those quiet smiles and unspoken words?

Stay tuned for this mysterious to be disclose .....
