Chapter 31 - Chapter 31: Bored and Restless

"I am currently researching plants," the man on the other end replied calmly. "If there is a way to accelerate plant growth quickly, then you will no longer have to risk your life."

Hearing this, Su raised an intrigued eyebrow. "So you have changed your mind—you no longer want to find a plant power user?"

"We still need to find one, but we must also prepare an alternative plan," the gentle voice responded with a trace of helplessness. What was originally a pleasant voice sounded unbearably sharp in Su's ears.

"Enough with the nonsense. Who decided this new rule?" Su's eyes darkened as he asked coldly.

"It was a joint decision made by all the top military school officials," the man sighed lightly. "By the way, I have already found what you asked me to investigate last time."

"Speak," Su's voice turned even colder.

"It was the Empire's King," the man revealed, pausing briefly before continuing. "He bribed the administrator who controls the virtual creatures and placed that tiger at your location."

The Empire's King?

Su furrowed his brows in confusion. Why would the King send virtual creatures to their position? Bear in mind, Xiong Ruoyou's family runs a security company, and several of the King's bodyguards come from her family. Mu Qingyun, from a backwater planet, was the least likely to be on the King's radar. And Su himself? No one except those close to him knew he had even come here.

Could it be… Fan Xuanye?

"Is it because of Fan Xuanye?" Su asked cautiously, but before he could finish, the other side denied it.

"No, I checked Fan Xuanye's background. His family is powerful and influential, and he has a good relationship with the King. I heard he left to avoid riding on his family's fame."

"Then who could it be?" Su's confusion deepened. None of the four were likely suspects. Could it be that the King was simply bored and targeting them for no reason?

"My suspicion is Mu Qingyun," the man said.

"Him?" Su instinctively shook his head. Yet several fragments of memories suddenly flashed in his mind, leaving him silent. He almost forgot how arrogant Mu Qingyun was, having openly challenged Mu Xueyao multiple times. Could it be that the King wanted to avenge his daughter?

"Do not worry. I have already sent people to investigate thoroughly. This kind of thing will not happen again," the man's voice returned.

"Fine. If nothing else, I will hang up now."

"Wait, I have one more thing to say." The man hurriedly spoke, fearing that if he spoke any slower, Su would hang up.

"Is Mu Qingyun teaching you close combat?"

"Since you asked that, I suppose you have been watching my livestream. But if you have watched it, why ask such a question?" Su frowned impatiently.

He disliked people who spoke with such forced politeness—slow and overly courteous. To him, such questions were meaningless, a waste of time when every second counted.

Hearing the impatience in his tone, the man dared not waste any more words and quickly said, "Eventually, you must show your true identity to others. After all, you represent the face of our military school. Being taught like this is inappropriate."

"I never care about appearances. If all you can do is waste time with nonsense, I am hanging up." Without waiting for a reply, Su decisively ended the call.

The doctor was fine in many ways, but his endless, smooth-talking nonsense was frustrating.

As Su walked into the cave, a sharp, glaring gaze fixed on him intensely.

He took a deep breath and curled his lips slightly, turning to meet Mu Qingyun's straightforward stare. "What is it?"

"Nothing important. It is better not to go out," Mu Qingyun said, a hint of helplessness flashing in her eyes.

Su was too weak. If danger arose, he would not be able to handle it. "If you must go out, bring Fan Xuanye along."

"Hm?" Fan Xuanye, suddenly mentioned, looked up in confusion.

Under Fan Xuanye's burning gaze, Mu Qingyun remained calm and turned her head slightly, speaking softly, "For example, when using the restroom."

Using the restroom?

Su and Fan Xuanye both furrowed their brows simultaneously.

Going to the restroom is normal. But why insist on bringing Fan Xuanye? And if he is male, why not just go alone?

Su raised an eyebrow in puzzlement but thought better of asking. His sixth sense warned him it was better not to.

"These past few livestreams are so boring, no highlights at all."

"What highlights do you want? Watching Mu beat virtual creatures is pretty exciting."

"The first few were indeed exciting, but no matter what enemy Mu faces, he always has a blank expression. It is so dull."

"I agree. I want dramatic plot twists. The more drama, the better."

"Disagree. The livestream is intense, but constant intensity gets boring."

"No, the person above must be poisoned. This is not a variety show; it's about selecting strong fighters to protect our planet."

Whether by divine intervention or not, the drama the viewers craved soon arrived.

Bai Feifei dragged her injured arm, and seeing the familiar cave entrance, she ran inside without hesitation.

She knew this was Mu Qingyun's cave. She had just been chased by a virtual creature she could not defeat. Surprisingly, Mu Xueyao and the others had abandoned her, so she had barely escaped.

Glancing back, she saw no virtual creatures chasing her.

Relieved, she exhaled deeply. Luckily, she had not pressed the distress button earlier—otherwise, she would have lost any chance of returning to the military school.

Stopping at the cave entrance, she turned off her livestream device.

After hesitating briefly, she fixed her messy hair, wiped the dust from her face, and ripped the corner of her torn clothing to reveal her pale, flawless skin. Satisfied, she nodded slightly.

"Help! Somebody help!" she suddenly cried out in panic and hurried inside.

The three people inside immediately turned to look at her.

Huh? Why were there three?

Bai Feifei frowned, glancing at the three. Seeing no sign of Mu Qingyun, she quickly dropped the weak, delicate act. "Where is Mu Qingyun?"

"Why do you want to see Mu Ge?" Xiong Ruoyou eyed Bai Feifei warily. She did not like this woman.

Though Bai Feifei was the princess's attendant, her words were unpleasant. From the start, she had been the one to insult Mu Ge several times.

"I was chased by a virtual creature and came here to take refuge," Bai Feifei said disdainfully, casting a glance at Xiong Ruoyou and fixing her gaze on the glowing number above Xiong's head.
