The wind blew in through the window that had never been closed, casting a quiet stillness over the entire room.
Bonnie pulled her cap lower, her eyes shadowed with unreadable emotion.
After a long silence, she finally looked up, her clear eyes meeting his directly. "Charlie, don't tell him about this."
"Why not?"
Bonnie bit her lip.
Charlie studied her for a moment. "I've contacted a doctor. You're coming with me to the hospital for a check-up tomorrow."
"I'm fine now," she said hastily, grabbing his sleeve. "Really."
Charlie brushed her hand away, his tone firm. "This isn't up for discussion."
"I'm mad at you!"
The tall, poised man dropped his sleeve and reached for the jacket draped over the chair. As he slipped it on, his voice remained calm and detached. "Suit yourself."
Grabbing the car keys, Charlie stood still for two seconds before striding over to her.
"Colton said you've been having hallucinations," he said.
"...That was a long time ago."
"How long exactly?"
