Chapter 10 - Chapter 10: The Weight of Guilt

Yandi tried to sincerely apologize, feeling that everything that had happened was partly his fault.

"I'm sorry, Felix." Yandi said with a tone full of regret. "Indirectly, all of this happened because of me. At first, Angga was targeting me, not you. And I'm also sorry for arriving late. I should've come sooner, or maybe I shouldn't have left you alone here in the first place."

Felix looked at Yandi with genuine eyes. He slowly shook his head.

"No, Yandi! I don't blame you at all for what happened. It's also my fault for being careless. I opened the door for Angga without thinking, and that's why all of this happened." Felix said, trying to reassure Yandi.

For a moment, silence fell between them, broken only by the soft sound of the night breeze.

"Actually, I want to thank you." Felix continued, turning his face away to hide the blush creeping up his cheeks. "If it weren't for you, I might not have survived."

Yandi paused, feeling slightly relieved, and then said, "I see... Then, what can I do to repay all—"

Before Yandi could finish his sentence, he suddenly hiccupped.

"Ehhmm! I mean, to make up for some of my mistakes." he said shyly.

Felix gave a small smile and replied simply, "There's no need."

"Ehhh?" Yandi looked at Felix with a confused expression.

Felix let out a soft sigh, then looked back at Yandi with gentle eyes. "Didn't I tell you? You don't need to repay anything. Besides, maybe this is karma for me... because I once said bad things about you back in college. Maybe this is a way for me to atone for my sins."

Hearing those words, Yandi felt touched. He nodded slightly and said very politely, "I think the past should remain in the past. I know, no matter how hard you try to forget, its shadow will always linger in your memory. But remember, every human being has made mistakes. Even those who think of themselves as the strongest have their flaws and weaknesses."

Yandi reached out his hand toward Felix, as if trying to emphasize something.

"The only thing that sets us apart is right here." Yandi continued, pointing to Felix's chest, where the heart resides. "The heart."

Felix looked at Yandi's hand with a soft gaze.

"From what I see, you have a very kind heart. You can't bear to see others suffer, and that's something rare." Yandi added softly.

Felix shook his head slowly. "But... isn't Angga a very good person? Compared to him, I feel like I'm the bad one."

Felix then rested his head on Yandi's shoulder, as if seeking comfort.

Yandi fell silent for a moment, then gently replied, "However, in Angga's case... it's different. From the start, he already had hidden intentions. You just didn't realize it."

Felix lifted his head and looked at Yandi with a curious gaze. "What do you mean?"

Yandi, who was almost unconsciously about to touch Felix's long hair, suddenly felt embarrassed. His face turned red.

"W-what I mean..." Yandi stammered, "I already sensed his true nature even before I got to know him better."

Felix furrowed his brow, looking doubtful. "That's a lie, right? You're just joking, aren't you?"

Yandi took a deep breath. "I'm not joking, Felix. You've been used by him all this time, and you just didn't realize it. I was afraid that if I told you earlier, you wouldn't believe me and might even think I was jealous or lying."

Felix fell silent. Slowly, all the memories and oddities he had experienced with Angga replayed in his mind. He began to understand.

Yandi smiled softly, feeling relieved. He knew that when someone finds the truth through their own efforts, it becomes far more valuable than simply being told.

Felix slowly wiped away his tears. There was a sense of relief in his heart, mixed with pain and disappointment. But more than that, he felt grateful that he now had someone like Yandi by his side.

"Thank you, Yandi. Thank you for everything you've said to me. I feel much better now." Felix said sincerely.

"I'm glad to hear that, Felix." Yandi replied with a wide smile.

Felix smiled back, even though tears were still streaming down his cheeks. But this time, they were tears of relief.

"By the way, what should we do now?" Felix asked, feeling his body much fresher and stronger than before.

"Hmm..." Yandi thought for a moment, closing his eyes and furrowing his brows. "I'm not sure yet. We need to think about our next step."

"Are we going to stay here?" Felix asked, looking around anxiously.

Before Yandi could answer, thick black mist suddenly rose from the ground, slowly covering the area where they stood. The mist formed strange patterns, like letters spelling out a message.

Yandi watched closely. He felt it was some kind of order or clue to continue their search.

Suddenly, Yandi caught a glimpse of a large creature, the one he had seen in the forest before, hiding within the mist. His heart raced.

'Is this a sign?' Yandi thought.

He tried to connect this message with all the clues he had found earlier. After careful thought, Yandi felt it was indeed time to continue their search. However, he also realized that nighttime was not the right time to explore a dark and dangerous forest.

With a heavy heart, Yandi decided, "We'll continue the search tomorrow."

Felix nodded in agreement. He also felt relieved, as he wasn't fully recovered enough to trek through the dark night.

For now, the most important thing was to find a safe place to spend the night.

Yandi decided to use his ability his newfound indigo sensitivity to locate a safe place, protected from both visible and invisible dangers. It would be his first time consciously using his ability continuously.

After scanning the surrounding area with his spiritual sensitivity, Yandi found a spot near some small trees, about two meters tall, that seemed safe and well-hidden.

"Felix, come on! Bring all your things. We need to leave here." Yandi called.

"Where are we going?" Felix asked curiously, lifting his gear.

"We're going to set up a tent," Yandi said, pointing toward a wide stretch of grassland in the distance, surrounded by small trees.

Felix looked in the direction Yandi pointed. "Hmm, it's a bit far, isn't it?"

"Yeah. But I'm sure it's a safe place." Yandi replied confidently.

Felix gave a small smile. "Alright! If that's what you want, I'll follow you."

Without wasting any more time, they hurried toward the spot, carrying all their belongings. Although their exhaustion hadn't completely gone away, the spirit and conviction in their hearts made their steps feel lighter.
