"Mommy!" Adam jumped up with joy. Mommy was here finally. He spread his arms wide and ran toward Claire.
"Adam!"
"Mommy!"
Mother and son fell into a tight embrace.
"Adam, what happened? How did you end up here?" Claire wiped the sweat from his face. His little cheeks were flushed purple from fear, and her heart clenched painfully.
Adam quickly explained everything that had happened.
Claire's eyes burned with fury.
"Adam, don't be afraid. There are no ghosts in this world, only bad people. Mommy will make them pay. Come on, let's get out of here." She picked him up and started to leave.
"Mommy, put me down. Let's walk together. It's too hard for you to carry me." Adam insisted, wriggling to get out of her arms.
Unable to refuse him, Claire set him down.
They headed toward the Watson estate.
"Mommy, wait, there's a sound over there." As they walked, Adam's ears twitched.
His hearing had always been exceptionally sharp. He immediately caught a sound from not far away.
