Silence. Deafening, suffocating silence.
All eyes burned into me like firebrands. I couldn't move. The very ground beneath me might as well have cracked open and swallowed me whole.
No, this couldn't be real. I wasn't even pregnant.
But I couldn't breathe.
My legs staggered backward, and my hand automatically searched for Damien's. But he wasn't beside me anymore.
He was standing in front of me now. His back was turned, staring straight at the banner, fists clenched at his sides. The change in him was instant. From warmth to ice.
"Damien…" My voice was a whisper it sounded fragile and pathetic.
He didn't respond.
Selene stood just behind him, her hand covering her mouth, eyes wide in exaggerated disbelief. As if this wasn't her masterpiece.
"W-What is this?" I asked no one, voice trembling.

"Is it true?" the former Luna asked.
"I'm not pregnant," I said quickly, but the words felt hollow in my mouth. "I don't know where this came from—"
