The suddenly appearing monster was Ryuji in his Oni form. His appearance was far more terrifying than Kokushibo's six eyes.

Ryuji resembled a creature from hell, radiating dark purple demonic energy.

Ryuji's timely arrival was thanks to the Shadow Clone technique obtained from a Lower Rank demon, allowing him to swap places with his shadow within a 100-meter radius.

Rengoku didn't immediately recognize Ryuji. Ryuji's aura was not his usual one but that of a demon, hindering Rengoku's judgment.

If not for recognizing Ryuji's clothing, Rengoku wouldn't have connected the creature before him to Ryuji.

"Ryu...ji?" Rengoku's voice was barely audible.

Kokushibo, staring at this monstrous figure, even more horrifying than himself, was puzzled. "Who are you?"

He asked because Kokushibo sensed neither human nor demon energy from Ryuji in his Oni form, leading him to believe Ryuji was something beyond both.

"The one who will kill you," Ryuji replied coldly, his arm thrusting forward, his Nichirin Blade pressing down forcefully.

Kokushibo, weaker than Ryuji in Oni form, was forced backward.

Kokushibo's expression turned serious, surprised by this suddenly encountered, superior opponent.

Over the years, Kokushibo had killed many Hashira, the strongest of the Demon Slayer Corps, and had never taken them seriously.

Yet, facing Ryuji, his usual calm demeanor had turned serious.

Even during his battle with Rengoku, Kokushibo hadn't shown such seriousness, remaining calm throughout, as if fighting a Hashira were as simple as eating a meal.

Overwhelmed by Ryuji's power, Kokushibo temporarily retreated.

The moment Kokushibo disengaged, Ryuji's Nichirin Blade slammed into the ground. The demonic energy from the blade manifested as a pitch-black energy wave, carving a deep gash in the earth.

Having forced Kokushibo back, Ryuji turned to Rengoku.

Upon seeing Ryuji, Rengoku's expression was one of utter shock. The horrifying monster before him was a far cry from the refined and elegant Ryuji he knew.

Ryuji's Oni form wasn't ugly, but terrifying and ferocious.

Rengoku wanted to ask who he was, but his condition prevented him from speaking.

Ryuji wasn't surprised by Rengoku's shock; it was natural. In this form, Rengoku wouldn't recognize him.

Sensing Rengoku's rapidly fading life force, Ryuji knew he didn't have much time. Even if he retreated with Rengoku now, Kokushibo and Upper Rank Three would surely pursue them.
