Lucy had no idea how long the two of them sat huddled behind the couch. When they finally did move, it was Peter who started it. Her boyfriend moving his head away from her shoulder and straightening, turning to look over at her.
He stared for a few seconds. before he reached into his pocket and pulled out a sachet. As Ariel watched he carefully opened it. Then he held it out to her.
"Here, a wet wipe for your face," It was so completely unexpected that Lucy found herself laughing. What he said was not particularly funny. She really did need a wet wipe. Especially since tears had been silently running down her face in the time that she'd been sitting next to him.
No doubt she was even more of a mess than she had been when she'd sat down. But her sweet Peter, taking time out of his own sadness to make sure that Lucy's face was dealt with, was just so funny that she laughed for a few long seconds.
