In a way, Ariel had thought that finally seeing the footage of what had happened to her would be this quick fix. That she would just take one look and a new lead would just make itself known to her. But that was not what ended up happening.
Watching the videos, Ariel almost felt as though she were watching things happen to somebody else. She felt no connection whatsoever to the events. So she was unable to spot anything helpful. But one good thing that had come from watching the videos was that she had been able to help Tristan.
The entire time, she had been thinking that her husband was aware of how brave he had been when she had needed him. But as it turned out, Tristan had been thinking that the whole thing was his fault. Beating himself up over it, like he was the one who had taken a knife, and had tried to attack her. Idiot of a man, but he was her sweet idiot and she loved him.
