Chapter 31 - Memories!

Upon seeing Su Mo's excitement. Yang Qingxi and Zhang Xulin were genuinely happy for him. Although they were curious about his increase in strength, they didn't plan to probe into his secrets unless he was willing.

At least that's what Zhang Xulin had in mind…

As for Yang Qingxi? She had already heard everything through his inner voice. Hence, there was no need to ask.

'Repel and Corpse Puppet?! When can I get such awesome abilities!'

While feeling envious, Yang Qingxi was already thinking of various ways to utilize these abilities.

'Leaving aside the Repel's ability to protect from abnormal effects. It's still very effective in mental cultivation.'

'As for Corpse Puppet, what a disgusting yet lovely ability!'

'Just find some powerful deceased cultivators and raise an undead army!'

'Read their memories and learn their martial art secrets!'

'Then…'

'What Protagonist? What destiny?'

'Everyone! On your knees!'

---

'Hehehe~'

Just imagining that wonderful scene made Yang Qingxi grin silly. Fortunately, she restrained herself before making a fool of herself. She can't be blamed for this. For her, any ability that can give her a sense of security is wonderful.

Who cares if it's immoral or not? At least she didn't have the leisure to choose.

Those protagonists won't reason with her before finding enmity with her and killing her.

Can she escape? No!

If she doesn't become stronger, she and her family will all die together, becoming stepping stones for someone's path of glory.

She glanced at Su Mo.

'With him here… I have the confidence to face everything.'

At this moment, Yang Qingxi was unaware that this little dependence and sense of security she received from Su Mo's presence were the nourishment for the emotional seeds that would sprout later. She would be unable to break free. Sinking deeper and deeper until…

Meanwhile, with the perfect test subjects before him, Su Mo activated his Corpse Puppet ability, intent on glimpsing the memories of these skeletons.

It took a few seconds before some pictures flashed in his mind.

---

Picture 1:It's the scene inside the same chamber. The erosion of time was much less significant compared to now. A young man with bloodshot eyes and dark circles was drawing some patterns on the floor with blood. A middle-aged man was tied up, and there were cuts on his limbs as he was bleeding. It was his blood that was being used to draw patterns.

{"Li Wei, you are desecrating our heroes! There's still time, repent!" The kidnapped villager with a pale face advised.

"It's because of your so-called heroes I lost my sister!" Li Wei became enraged and retorted. Even his hands, drawing the pattern, paused because of the emotional outburst.

"They died defending us…" The villager replied weakly.

"Who is to blame for this?" Li Wei sneered and continued with what he was doing.

"… Still! What you are doing is wrong!"

"Doesn't matter. As long as I can revive her." Li Wei was nonchalant.

"You are being tempted by the devil!" The villager screamed.

"It's an equivalent exchange!" Li Wei didn't take it to heart. Before completely ending the villager's life.}

---

Picture 2:Li Wei brought another man covered in bruises. At this time, there was already a corpse hanging on the wall.

{"Li Wei! You bastard! Was it you who killed Uncle Han?"

"…" Li Wei was silent.

"Why would you do this?"

"… To fulfil my wish." Li Wei replied in a low voice.

"Y-you are a monster!"

"I'm not." Li Wei clarified with a numb look. "The reason why people are human is that they are full of desires, and I'm not quite there yet."

"You're crazy!"

"Did you just realize?"

"Puff!" Li Wei smiled and stabbed the harpoon into the guy's neck, ending his life. Before the picture disappeared, Li Wei's faint voice was heard.

"It won't be long… Li Mei."}

---

The memories of the other skeletons were all about Li Wei bringing more men and sacrificing them by doing a strange blood ceremony, slowly filling the blood pond.

The number of corpses was many times larger than the number present. From the pictures, it seemed as if Li Wei was getting closer to his goal as the number of sacrifices increased, and so did his madness.

Su Mo woke up in a cold sweat. The memory of those cruel killings made him feel uncomfortable. Being born in a relatively peaceful society governed by law, it is no wonder he would feel that way. After all, regardless of the powerful strength that he had now. He was just an ordinary person more than a week ago. Even if he adapts, it may take some time.

[So cruel! That Li Wei guy single-handedly killed almost the entire male population in the village.]

[Could this be tied to the so-called rumoured curse of the Tianzai Village?]

The thought darkened Su Mo's expression. He had a feeling that finding the answers to these questions might lead him into something troublesome. Now he was contemplating whether to get involved or not.

[Shit! Now, I'm curious. If I don't find the answers, I won't be able to have a good night's sleep.]

While Su Mo was scratching the back of his head in irritation, in another part of the chamber, Yang Qingxi was digesting the information contained in Su Mo's inner voice. She didn't see those memories, but Su Mo's comments regarding them helped her grasp the general situation.

Just then, Zhang Xulin, observing the unfolding scene, asked with a confused look on her face, "What are you doing, Su Mo?"

She was oblivious to Su Mo's new abilities. From what she observed, Su Mo stood up in excitement and then started touching the skeletons one after another in a daze.

'What's with that obsessed look on his face? Is he into skeletons?'

For some reason, she felt creeped out by the thought that occurred to her.
