Chapter 111 - Chapter 110: The Beast Riot—Beginning!

The sudden attack might have disrupted Kitakari town, but the duty must go on. After that one episode of a sudden attack on the first day, the next few days were rather peaceful.

There were occasional clashes and capture operations against the rogue ninjas. But none of the fights escalated to a scale big enough to disrupt the town or the patrolling missions of the Konoha ninjas and ANBU operatives stationed here.

Sure, the days were a bit mundane. But it was orderly and peaceful.

For a ninja, mundane days were good days.

At least, on those mundane days, they could relax and wouldn't have to risk their lives fighting against outrageous enemies and chakra beasts.

And so, four days passed.

According to the assigned mission, today should be the fifth and final day Seimei and his team would patrol Kitakari town before they could return to the village.

As for their current patrolling duties…

Of course, they would hand it over to the newly deployed team, who were about to arrive the next day.

Everything was going well without any issues.

However, Seimei couldn't help but feel a bit uneasy.

To him, the current situation of the city seemed too calm. Eerily calm.

It was like the calm and serene atmosphere before the descent of a terrifying storm.

Although Seimei repeatedly told himself that he was overthinking, he couldn't calm his nerves.

His sixth sense was ringing alarm bells.

Fortunately, he wasn't the only one who had this feeling.

His teammates and other powerful Konoha ninjas stationed in the Kitakari town also felt a strange, ominous vibe. It was as if their body's survival instincts were screaming at them to be ready to fight or flee.

As ninjas who had honed their skills and instincts for decades, most ninjas obviously didn't dismiss the uneasy feeling as something trivial.

Instead, they were searching the town and trying to capture the rogue ninjas, samurai, and individuals more intensely.

However, Seimei could sense it. The dark, foreboding vibe didn't fade away. Instead, it grew stronger over time.

Something bad was going to happen. But he had no clue about it.

It was unsettling.

He exchanged glances with his teammates.

Whether it was Senju Haku, Uchiha Sorata, Aburame Shoji, or Hyuga Ginjo, all of them had a stern expression on their faces.

Senju Haku asked Hyuga Ginjo, "Did you see anything abnormal within the town today?"

The Hyuga clan member, who had been scanning his surroundings with his Byakugan activated, looked around a few more times before deactivating the Byakugan. The veins that popped out around his eyes and cheeks slowly receded.

Activating Byakugan for a long time could put a lot of pressure on their eyes, spirit, ocular power reserves, and optic nerves. So, most Hyuga ninjas wouldn't keep it active all the time unless it was necessary.

Hyuga Ginjo thought for a while before speaking, "No, Captain. Apart from a few rampart ninjas and unidentified individuals with chakra, I don't see anything unusual at all."

"At least, not within my search radius."

Hearing this, Senju Haku pinched the bridge of his nose between his eyes silently and said nothing.

Seimei also searched his surroundings with his Tenseigan.

With his current mastery, he could detect everything within a seven-kilometer radius in detail. However, if he sacrificed the detailed inspection, he could sense and vaguely see the chakra fluctuations, living beings, and notable objects that were stationed as far as fifteen to twenty kilometers away.

It was important to consider that Seimei's Tenseigan was still going through different phases to unlock more of its power. To do it, Seimei would need to grow up, have a strong body, a vast amount of chakra, and more control over his Dojutsu.

And he was still learning the ropes.

Still, even with his locked powers, Tenseigan's visual range far surpassed Byakugan, which had an average visual range of one or two kilometers.

Even if the purity of the Byakugan and Hyuga bloodline were extremely high, the maximum visual range of Byakugan wouldn't exceed ten kilometers.

And those who achieved such control over their Byakugan would be considered a prodigy that only appeared once in every century.

But for Tenseigan, the ten kilometers of maximum visual range was just a starting point. As Seimei grew up and became stronger, the visual range of his Tenseigan would continue to extend.

Of course, that also meant finally unlocking powerful ocular techniques.

In fact, Seimei's Tenseigan had already evolved to level 3 a few months ago. And at that time, he also unlocked his first ocular technique.

But his control over the ocular technique…let's say it wasn't great yet.

However, even with such a powerful eye, Seimei couldn't detect any anomaly that could give him and his teammates such a dreadful feeling.

Uchiha Sorata also activated his Sharingan and looked around to find even the smallest of the clues.

Meanwhile, Aburame Shoji stayed silent and followed his team's lead.

If anyone could feel the terrifying sense of danger most intensely in Seimei's team, then it could only be him and his insects.

Individually, each insect was very weak, and they were nothing but prey or nuisance in the eyes of most predators in the natural food chain.

To survive in this vast world and keep their species alive, insects have developed a heightened sense of danger.

Whether the danger came from a natural disaster or a powerful predator, insects could sense it from far away, giving them plenty of time to escape. Or at least, allowing a part of their colony to escape so they could survive and prevent the extinction of their species.

Aburame Shoji's insects, although powerful and nourished by chakra, still retained the basic danger sense, allowing them to sense danger from far away.

This inexplicable sense of dread and crisis made the insects under Aburame Shoji's control restless.

And he had already conveyed this message to his teammates.

However, they could pinpoint what was causing them to feel such a thing.

So, they and other Konoha ninjas continue to patrol the town.

And in the blink of an eye, one hour passed.

The sun was slowly rising on the horizon. Soon, the sunlight would illuminate the darkness from the surrounding area.

However, Seimei suddenly halted. His pupils constricted as he looked toward the gates of the city.

Seeing this, he could only curse, "Shit!"

"Quickly. Quickly report the gatekeepers to ring the emergency bell, block the exits, and assemble all the Konoha ninjas and affiliated samurai in this city."

His teammates could sense the urgency in his voice, but they weren't sure what made Seimei so anxious all of a sudden.

Hyuga Ginjo even scanned the surrounding areas with his Byakugan, but he couldn't find anything amiss.

Uchiha Sorata, on the other hand, stayed silent for a moment before asking, "Did you sense something?"

Seimei quickly composed himself and looked at his team, "Captain. We have to get ready to fight."

"It's a chakra beast riot."

Senju Haku suddenly went silent before asking, "You're joking, right?"

At that moment, he suddenly heard the emergency bells ringing in a specific pattern, notifying all ninjas to gather at the nearest Konoha checkpoints.

Haku's eyes widened. His expression suddenly became solemn.

Based on the sequence of the emergency bells' sounds, an attack on the town—something that could destroy it if they couldn't stop it—was about to happen.

So, he glanced at Seimei and said, "I don't know how you sensed it, but I guess you're not joking."

"Let's move to the southern checkpoint."

As soon as Senju Haku said those words, all five of them activated the Body Flicker Technique and disappeared from their current positions.
